A great review. This car matters to us in the UK because it is built here. I think the generator electric concept really works and you see it elsewhere in the Nissan models. Like many “affordable” semi EVs this gives us a lesson in what you need and what is unnecessary in premium cars. I really would not feel too deprived inside one of these while driving. The 0-60 figure of around 8 seconds is about the same as my old Alfa Romeo GTV6s which felt pretty good at the time in the mid 1980s. I would hope this thing would be a bit more reliable than the then Alfas.

Great review Thomas. Thank you. I like the car and e-power system very much, but we have to admit it is good in some areas, not everywhere. I will try to detail. This is a fantastic car for medium sized trips, with moderate speed and good occasions for recuperation, like urban driving, uphill - downhill driving etc. In other situations it will consume more than hybrid cars from Toyota, for example. Where does not perform well e-power system? In very small towns, where your trips are very short. In these situations no car is performing well, even if it is hybrid or petrol only. Because the gas engine needs to warm up and it will consume more initial, and when it will be warm, you will end your trip, and the consumption will remain big. So in this case is the gas engine's fault for big consumption. Other situation: on the highway, because the electric motor, used for traction, "suffer" at high speeds and consumes a lot of energy, this will be provided by the gas engine. That one is warmed up and efficient in this case, but it's for nothing, because it's the electric motor's fault for big consumption. That's why Honda's hybrid system allows gas engine to connect directly to the wheels in some situations. That is a more efficient setup, but it's more complex. The e-power system has no gearbox, but Honda's system has a sort of (even not a traditional one). Conclusion: if you live in a big city and make medium-sized trips at moderate speeds, e-power is excellent. If you use it only for short trips or only for highway trips, you must look elsewere. You can use this system even in these situations, of course, but it will not be at it's optimum working regime.

Big plus for the really nice redesign and genuine animal leather seats! Finally looks like a proper evolution of the J11 Qashqai. The previous J12 design looked like a step down.
@autogefuehl3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2nKf4uih6yhnaM

@@brownhairydog6472 its not about top speed, its about being able to accelerate. That 10 seconds to 100 number is measured in perfect conditions with one person inside, you put three more people, some luggage, turn on air conditioner and 10 seconds becomes 20 or even more, this is EXTREMELY dangerous when overtaking on any intercity road, car just becomes unpredictable.

@AlexeyProgramming3 ай бұрын
@@brownhairydog6472 it actually turns, the less power car has the more struggle it gets when accelerating at high speeds. 7 seconds to 100 car is much more performant at high speeds during overtake and less affected by extra weight. You also dont seem to be aware of power curves of diesel/petrol engines comparing to pure electric. Electric cars have struggles at high speeds, low power electric cars are much much worse at speeds beyond 70-90, and you have no way to downshift to bring in more torque and power at higher rpms like in combustion engine cars. And this particular nissan doesnt even have combustion engine drivetrain support like lexuses have when you need extra power. I’d say low powered combustion engine cars are dangerous when overtaking, but this one is just barely usable on a highway.

@@autogefuehl So we should just throw away the leather resulted from the meat industry? We should all be vegans? We should all riding bicycles? Then how you will generate your income? I think everything is connected, we can't just change things overnight, jobs, people will be affected. And I see you travel all over the world for reviewing cars, I see you driving 200 km/h plus on Autobahn, where is the sustainability in that? Why not limiting cars to 90-100 km/h like some countries do, the consumption will be almost half. 🙂

I love cars and I love animals. I dont want to hurt animals, thats my motivation. Just because you want to improve something doesnt mean u have to live a perfect life. Its like „hey dont help this granny cross the street because what about the children in africa!“ thats why this is called „whataboutism“. In that case you can always say „but what about…“ so you buy organic cotton, but what about buying plastic straws? You see that this is nonsense. Humans and animals in the leather industry are victims and we should try our best to end this suffering.

@@autogefuehl I get your point, I will stop using leather when you'll stop flying for reviews and when the Autobahn will have a 120 km/h limit. 🙂 Unfortunately I don't see a good leather substitute. I don't have a problem with the Ikea style, meaning only the parts that normally come in contact with a human are leather, the rest is vinilin. So for me vinilin is ok on the doors or the dashboard but not on the steering wheel and seats that come in contact with the user. And you elegantly avoided my point, the leather can come from the meat industry. Like the wood in Volvo cars, driftwood.

Check the links to the videos in the first answer comment, the new modern materials are very, very good and superior, so there is plenty of alternative already

isn't this microfiber? It's a cheap car, it can't have Alcantara
