Honda and others could have tapped this market like the himalayan and 450MT have done. But their bean counters are still not interested or listening apparently. The masses have waited over a decade for a bike with better seat height choices, 6 speed (but even wider ratio) from single track to highway, fuel injection liquid cooled, long oil changes and reliability, lower centre mass handling, under 500cc etc. Honda rested on their laurels with bikes like the CRF450L that was way too tall for the average rider who didn’t need 12” of travel when a better quality 8” is fine, and they didn’t want those 600 mile oil change hassles either. Unfortunately these Indian and Chinese 196kg bikes are 20 - 40 kg heavier than the 400 - 650cc dual sport bikes we had 25 years ago.
@MCCJustMotos11 күн бұрын
You bring up some interesting points for sure. Honda (and some of the Chinese brands) adefinitely chasing Royal Enfield in a few categories. The CFMotos of the world seem to be quicker to catch up though. IMHO honda went for a little bit bigger with their Translap, but they just don’t have something really in this category. Again, very insightful thoughts!

What about the poor quality chasis design? there is some that have broken down, yes I know it was handled by RE saying the owner installed a not original crash bars and that was the main fault, BUT, anyhow, it still speaks loudly about a bad chasis design
@RipsawEV_23 ай бұрын
It was an aftermarket crash guard issue. As the guy got an aftermarket crash guard and forgot to mount the front mounting screws, which caused all the weight to fall on the rear mounting screws causing the fracture. Same for the other guys, the crash guards were not fastened using the right torque and etc.

Of the tens of thousands of bikes made (maybe more?) I guess you’d have to see what percentage of bikes have issues. My guess is a very small percentage well under one percent.
@MCCJustMotos3 ай бұрын
Interesting insight!
@slakk50933 ай бұрын
There are 2 bikes that failed both with aftermarket crash bars. Apparently both fitted without torque wrench and because the crash bars require removing an engine mount bolt to fit, it is important to refit the engine mount bolt with correct torque. It’s amazing that a few people can fit aftermarket crash bars incorrectly and then morons will repeat it in every KZbin comment section as if everyone bike it failing.
@JoseAlvarez-dl3hm2 ай бұрын
@@slakk5093 a moron is to believe that a good chasis design would break after installing after market crash bars. Plenty of ppl install after market equipment and we do not see them falling apart after that, have you seen honda, kawasaki, yamaha or other reliable bikes outher falling to pieces after installing after market crash bars? Never. And same issue have happend with the previous re himalayan 411, that is a bad engineering error no matter what angle you use to excuse them
