So many old school sedans being discontinued. Seniors love them. Sad folks 😢

What about the Nissan Altima? In the 13th year driving my 12' Altima with never an issue with it. That includes the ORIGINAL CVT transmission that has been flawless.

Lucky you. I bet you drive conservatively. I like how the Altima looks, yet, as you mentioned, the CVT from Jetco does not inspire a feeling of reliability. Depending on the price, it might be worth getting an Altima (like in your case), but that also depends on the style of driving and the number of miles driven. I wish Nissan would use a Toyota or Honda transmission, and then it would be a bulletproof car! Take care.

I know mechanics that drove theirs a little too hard, and everything is chatting and clattering

Dont see the point in sedans anymore. Low roofs so the back seat is useless. A trunk is such a waste of potential space. The the ride height and body is so physically low. If you want a sporty car get a coupe. For comfort and hauling things look into different body segments. A sedan doesn't really do anything right

Show me a crossover SUV that gets 50mpg like the Camry.

Mpg, scientifically proven to be safer than an SUV. American automakers lost billions of dollars on sedans compared to the Japanese. They lobbied to the US government about relaxing emissions for larger vehicles and it was approved during the economic crisis. So, they cancelled most sedans and promoted that no one buys sedans anymore. I believe eventually they will bounce back.
