Another great review Jenny, enjoyed while at Maccas drinking my morning coffee. Would look good taking the kids to school in Toorak. I have seen a lot of these around Melbourne lately. They need to go back to the drawing board on that load area floor, could possibly be difficult stuffing in big items purchased at Bunnings. My uncle had one of the first generation Prado(petrol engined) models purchased new in 1997, which clocked up over a million kms without any major issues, before he was forced to stop driving, and ended up being scrapped.

Great review thanks Jenny. I have driven both the GXL and VX and having owned a 150 VX Prado previously I do feel it’s the sweet spot in the range. I like the look of the new Prado both inside and out however agree with you that the ride is extremely soft and floaty which the adjustable dampers on the VX may help here. Unfortunately the usually more popular GXL model misses out on this feature. The boot set up is a disaster and could be a real dealbreaker . Yes I understand that the 48volt battery in the boot make the boot design a problem on all Prado models but I don’t know what the designers of the third row seating at Toyota were thinking here. The price increase of $10000 over the model range is over my budget so I will be saying no to buying one . I believe the Ford Everest although hasn’t got the Toyota pedigree still offers better value and a much more useable boot and third row seating plus the V6 engine is so much better than the Toyota offering of their old 2.8 power train. However I’m sure that rusted on Toyota buyers that have the $ won’t let anything deter them from buying the new Prado.

I've watch quite a few reviews, and I noticed something in common across all these reviews: the reviewers don't seem thrilled to be driving the new Prado. They look uniformly disappointed.
