Love the channel and the no BS commentary. I was shocked as well seeing Car of the Year. Stellantis is currently in a tough spot with overpriced trucks on old platforms. So now they throw in a new motor but the number of recalls on these new turbo motors and transmissions is high. Their HD gas motor is weak in real world towing and the tranny needs to be built stronger. Even with big discounts it will be tough. Hopefully with the return of Tim S. that will change. I am a GM guy but switched to Ford in 2001 and got the last 7.3 diesel which made me a believer. We have more Fords in our fleet, mostly gas now and fewer problems, especially when worked hard. I agree the 5.0 is an awesome platform and our 7.3's have been flawless. My personal truck has a 7.3 w 90k and no issues and the fleet hot shot has 163k. The GM 6.2 also has been a winner for us. Something about gas guzzling V-8's with no turbo's works for longevity and our application, towing heavy loads. Unfortunately, every Ram truck I have owned has had the most issues. To me they have the best-looking interiors and the exterior is #1 with GM a close second. Ford is just Butt ugly on the exterior but has the comfiest seats and many features not offered on the other trucks. I try and keep it as fair as possible.

Thank you for the kind words and for watching! great comments, What year 6.2l you guys have? Is it an LS or LT? I like the ford 7.3l gas engine (everyone loves the Diesel 7.3) a lot as long as they have the cam shaft and lifter situation figured out! This will be interesting to see what the next steps are that Ram makes. I think they are going to push hard on this Ram Charger (range extender EV truck) to get them out of this mess in the market. I lot of people seem to have interest in that one!...hopefully they can make it reliable!
@Jassman35362 күн бұрын
@@CTECH-REVIEW LT with 130k. Love the truck. What I have done on most of the trucks is scheduled maint. every 5k miles.. oil/filter/tire-bal/rotation. I changed the mufflers to a larger 3.5" tube going out and some have dual exhaust like my personal 7.3. I add Marvel Mystery oil in gas tank every 15-20k miles and change trans and differential fluid around 75k on each truck. The 7.3's get worked the hardest hauling skid steers, trailers and boats so every 50k on those. I'm old and old school and like simple and reliable. Retiring this year and every truck is spoken for to employees. Next truck (probably last truck) will be a 2026 Ford 7.3 Tremor or if GM can get the power/TQ up in their 6.6 gas I will go with a ZR2 if available.

The only reason why the 5.0 only makes 25% of the engine choice is because they only offer it on lower trim level. If offered on all trim levels it would be higher than the other engines
@CTECH-REVIEW2 күн бұрын
I have no clue why Ford now doesn't offer 5.0 on platinum and king ranch. Dumb decision on Fords part.
@CTECH-REVIEW2 күн бұрын
They offered it in platinum in 2021, I think 2022 too. Not sure why they did this in 24-25. I like the 5.0 for highway driving non towing, smooth cruiser.

@CTECH-REVIEW it's for that reason that I would never buy a 2024 F150 or newer
@erikswensen4252 күн бұрын
@CTECH-REVIEW they're trying to force you to buy EcoBoost. Same reason why back in 11-14 F-150s when they offered the 6.2. They only offered the 6.2 on the higher trim levels and the 3.5 on all trim levels. That's why they stopped offering the 6.2 after 2014

I have been driving the Ram 1500 for more than 20yrs. I’m not interested in their twin turbo trucks. The ford eco boost not that cost efficient to a V8 from research I have read. I would head over to ford for a V8, they seem to be more reliable than the complex turbos that enthusiasts might not be able to FYI as in more basic Hemi engines, imo. A future Hemi hybrid, well that what the torque was, there were recalls on certain models, 2023 being the recent. Will they bring back the 6.4 for a 1500, more probable, they continue to use the 6.4 for the 2500’s in Mexico, I don’t think they’ll be cheap. What a messed up industry.
@CTECH-REVIEW2 күн бұрын
6.4 and 392 seem to be two different animals (same displacement) regarding reliability. It seems like the 6.4 in the 2500 is a fairly reliable engine, but I know of plenty of people that had the higher HP version 392 in challengers/chargers/Jeeps and had a lot of valve train problems. a 392 in a RHO would be an interesting option! It would be low cost too! This is wild times, going to be interesting to see what moves Tim does moving forward. Ram already had the mild hybrid Hemi available since 2020 but it didnt seem to have much impact on performance or Fuel economy. Not sure what other steps they could do to the Hemi to make it make sense again.

Great video and good points. I'm not sure if the percentage of engines sold represents what people actually want, usually most all the vehicles sold are ordered by the dealership and not special ordered. That 2.7l is a stout engine. I think I would personally choose the 5.0 for simplicity and hopefully longevity. Nice breakdown!

I'll stick with my 6.4 hemi. I don't see these turbos lasting long term like the basic push rod V8 engines. I tried the tubo v6 on the Toyota, and that was the 2nd worst truck I've owned. There simply is no replacement for displacement.
