Reminds me of the porsche 911 964 model, I haven't looked it up but search up 911 964 straight pipes and it's one drifting around a dead end area...sounds like a v8 pretty much, my buddy was saying they having a super high lift on the camshafts which give it the sound but I never looked it up
@monikhushalpuriАй бұрын
Even the 2011-2017 3.7 v6 mustangs can be made to sound deep but need an H pipe, shorty headers and 2.75 inch piping at the least all the way back, heard one in person with this type of set up and while not v8 deep, its prob one of the deepest modern v6 exhausts I've heard thus far
@ModikieАй бұрын
Its more about the firing order, plus the addition of 2 turbochargers. I4 and i6 are generally flat plane cranks but most v8's are cross plane. And also the addition of 2 turbos restrict the sound. If you take an n/a i6, it sounds really good. Take a twin turbo i6, not so much. And with a really powerful flat plane v8 like the zr1 with twin turbos, its making so much more power (over 1000) that more of the sound is transfered into the exhaust. So even though it is still restricted by the turbos, the massive power and therefore combustion power is much, much stronger leading to the sound not sounding that much more muffled. But many of these turbo 6's aren't powerful enough to really overcome the comparatively large turbos, so they sound muffled.
@justinsweeney64329 күн бұрын
It's not the number of cylinders, it's the timing. DOHC engines have a higher pitch, raspy note to them while pushrod engines have a rougher, more throaty sound to them. I have a push rod V6 in my Impala and it sounds a lot closer to an American V8 than a Japanese V6.

It's like Doug can't read electrical power ratings. All the AC outlets say "MAX 400W" which is not heavy duty and will certainly not power a blender or a toaster. What is not clear is if all 3 AC outlets are running from the same "400 watt" inverter or 3 separate ones, or even possibly a single 1200W. The user manual would likely clarify that and Doug used to read the entire manual and give these kinds of useful details.

Doug, the U2/Joshua Tree references were amazing, whether intentional or not. "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" and "where the streets have no name"

Ram put a lot of thought and innovation into this vehicle, good job designers and engineers! The interior and tech functionality is really impressive. Amazing how far we have come in the last 20 years. I climb into my 2005 Land Cruiser and it feels like Fred Flintstones car from modernity perspective.

Hiya Doug, Long-time viewer here, keep up the good work! One thing I've been wanting more of, and frankly disappointed by the lack of, is not driving these vehicles where they're meant to be driven. $200,000 sports cars through stop and go traffic? I'm gonna skip that every time. Good choice with the 60 seconds of desert driving... but we need more of this all around.

I used to drive my in-laws late 70s Ram with 3 on the tree and a v8. At best it could be described as a metal box on wheels with seats. Its big features is that it had an fm radio and those triangle windows on the doors. I'd rather have that than any pickup made today.

I love this truck and want one. It’s beautiful. I have the Explorer ST with a Borla exhaust. Sounds great, and twin turbos are super fun. Can’t imagine having a pickup that’s faster than my ST for roughly the same price too.

The people that are mad the trx is gone are people that fit in 1 of 2 categories. Group A are people that can afford to purchase and would, group B are people that cant afford one, dream of one day being able to, but most likely will never own one. Group A is a small percentage of the population and a small percentage of their sales. Group B in regards to running a business is irrelevant because they cant or wont ever actually buy one.

One big point that I'd like to see some stress tests on: the Raptor had better offroad capabilities than the TRX. While they both are definitely competitive, the raptor was smoother over Dakar style "whoops" and also jumps, and you could literally see the difference when watching both trucks from the outside. I'd like to see if the RHO improved on this.

Another quirk not mentioned is new ram trucks in certain trims comes with a nfc card that can unlock and start the truck much like a tesla. There is also a button on the side of the tailgate to raise it again. All tailgate functions can be controlled by the key.
