Part of that is because its California but part is just that "value meals" have gotten absurdly expensive in the last decade. I was thinking the same initially then remembered that lots of places value meals are around $10 now... it should just be incentive for more people to learn to cook at home, enjoy the experience of doing something yourself, the pleasure of the meal, AND save a bunch doing so (also maybe just don't eat as much garbage when you have to cook it yourself).
