First I must say thank you dave for all that you do, it must absorb alot of your time to make videos and such to spead the "village knowledge" of bushcraft and survival. I am a long time fan and subscriber and I am so pleased to see that the 20 gauge is getting more attention and also wish that you could convince shortlane to make more longer rifled adapters for the 20 gauge. Thx Dave Nate Hill U.S.M.C iraq veteran.

20ga a little more difficult , but i turn the adapter notch bottom turned a little left or right a few degrees ; ejector misses ledge so stays put and still can EASILY pull primer out of my 12ga . GREAT shoosting stuff

i noticed in the height of the ammo crisis, 20 gauge was always available. literally every other round and shot was sold out. but, 20 gauge was always, always, on the shelf.

WARNING! in the 70's H&R made a single shot muzzleloader with a push in breech plug (my father has one). It is very similar too your adapter, and can be deadly in the case of a hang fire (delay fire). If you open the breach on a hang fire the adapter will fire back at you because it has less resistance than the shot!!! People have died from this!!! Please take care when using your adapter. Love your videos.

Hey Dave new sub here. Thank you guys for all the work you guys put into these videos! Quick question, using a black powder set up like this could you ram a replacement slug for reloading shells down the barrel and fire that safely? Just curious since they are reasonably cheap and easy to carry. I apologize if this has already been asked.

I ended up buying one of the 12 gauge adapters and I absolutely love it. Tried it with my own home made gunpowder and it works amazingly. I was so glad to see something like this. Keep Up the good work and I am definitely hoping to travel to take a few of the survival courses that are offered by you guys. Thanks again.

Considering that was black powder, not as much smoke as I expected out the barrel. Great option for a shotgun, and as said, very versatile

Hi Dave, big fan! I bought a H&R single shot and a 209 adapter after having watched the series. My shotgun is a 20 gauge like the one in this video. I am currently shopping for a .60 round ball mold. Preferable the old style scissor molds. Do you have any recommendations and would you consider doing a round ball video?

Ok this might sound a bit silly. I have a 12 gauge H&R single shot I like. I use a 20 gauge adapter in it for small game hunting. Would this 20 gauge black powder adapter work in the 20 gauge adapter in a 12 gauge?

The older I get, the more I'm in favor of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principal. I might get one of these adapters for fun, but there are too many futzy little extras for my satisfaction. If I'm making do, I'll make do with something like a .22 with lots of ammo. Simple, convenient, lightweight, effective, and no futzing around. Still, though, I made get one of these for fun. Many thanks.

During the ammo crunch shotgun ammo was the only thing available. Walmart never ran out of 12, 20 or .410. Slugs, birdshot, buckshot, turkey loads, etc. Why buy this when you can get a lee load all for the same price. Make your ammo ahead of time instead. make and sell an affordable small bore muzzeloader that I can use in place of .22lr and I'll buy that all day long.

Just got this great set up. Your site (via short lane) had this adapter at my door step in less than a week. Unfortunately, I ordered a 7" 22 adapter from another company in early April ( before I realized short lane has a superior 8" adapter, that I would probably already have if I' d researched more) and as of today's date I have not received it yet and probably won't get it until June. Do your research folks- shortlane's the way to go IMHO. I just got some lead from old wheel weights today Dave. I'd like to get the round ball mold for my 12 gauge , do you think 69 caliber is ideal? I understand the manufacturer does not recommend round ball as you mentioned but 12 gauge is approximately 72 caliber correct? 69 caliber should be a good safety factor I would think. Would you use "Bore Butter", or Tallow with the wool for a lubricant? Thanks, appreciate all you do.

@David Canterbury, First of all thanks for the video, and I also watched your other video on the 12 gauge. Just 3 ?s. I did buy a muzzle loader many years back and I tried it on muzzle loading hunting and I do not like it and the thing misfires on me is why I quit muzzle load hunting.. So this adapter may be the answer for me. (1). To deer hunt out of this 20 gauge adapter what double load OO buckshot load will you use for deer ? (2).And how far distance will it be affected for deer when using this 20 gauge muzzle loading adapter with double OO buckshot ? (3). Then on the 12 gauge or the 20 gauge adapters, would it be ok to use these adapters in the H&R single shot Rifled Twisted barrel's for the 12 or 20 gauge barrels and use the 12 or 20 gauge slugs for the shot ?

Check your state regulations. I think where I live that to qualify as a muzzleloader, for counties with such a season, that the breach must not open.

For all the single shot haters. If your'e hunting, you should only need one shot! If you are hunting and you need more than one shot to take one animal you should practice more often because you may wound an animal.
