Thank you. I am glad the tutorials are helpful. Your family heritage is interesting. I am sure if my dad and grandparents did not know your family, they definitely knew somebody aware of your family. But, they are all gone so we will never know. My grandfather operated a Bar-B-Q restaurant on the Eastside of Paducah and it seemed everybody knew him. Heck, in the early 70s we all went to Disneyland in Anaheim, and somebody there yells out my grandfather's name. 🤣 The world was small even then but much smaller now.

@@patriotsix5880 My maternal grandfather's family was named Sparks. My grandmother, who was from Whitesville, Ky., and was also a Sparks, married her cousin Charles, from Paducah. I did some genealogical work on my family, and it took me awhile to untangle that one.

It is easy for me but I have been building scenery in MSFS for over a year so yes, it would be easy for me. If this is your first time it will be awkward but the more you build the easier it gets. Used the tips I gleaned from your video this weekend to build rooftop heliports at UK's two Lexington hospitals, (93KY - UK Patient Care, and 37KY - UK Children's Hospital). Learned alot about building airports in the process; one tip I would pass on is to check first to see if MS/Asobo has previously misnumbered other airports with the ICAO you are targeting in the sim. If so, you can invest a bunch of time trying to fix the issue. For example, Asobo has 93KY assigned to a small grass strip near Sacramento, KY, probably because there were no helos in the sim when it came out, I guess. My workaround is to designate my UK heliport 93KYH; not pretty, but it works. Thanks for the insights.

Off the bat, it makes me think at one time the FAA assigned that number to a private Farm Airfield long since decommissioned. I am not sure if you know this but I am originally from West KY, Paducah, and I see old farm fields in the area I lived that are no longer active but still in MSFS. Even though I live in Nashville, a KY boy is a KY boy no matter where he lives. So I started trying to find the history of 93KY and it is a wormhole. But, I was able to find the code also used for 93KY - Baggett Farms Airport ... Sacramento, KY, US. I looked at an areal map and could not see any signs now. Since I can find it, I assume at one time it was used and is now decommissioned. See what you did to me? I have to go on a search because I always have a need to know. LOL I see what you are doing though. You are accurately using the ICAO as in real life. I am aware of clashes and possibly old data. With my builds, I typically go fictional to not have a conflict. I will make up an ICAO. Great to hear you are getting things done. That makes me happy. Keep creating. It is good for the brain.

@@ronstuveling You are right. I had forgotten about that. I built a single package and placed a helipad and I keep the package in my community folder at all times. Now I have the objects in the scenery library and can access the helipads as often as I want and put in other scenery packages. All it takes is to be in one package to have access at as many locations as you want.

Niiice video. No PHOTOGRAMMETRY buildings in my town though. I wonder if this would actually work without PHOTOGRAMMETRY, if you tick the "On ground" OFF??

I don't think so. You end up with a 2D mesh (picture of the ground) that the AI interprets to add buildings, trees, and such. What is the city and I will check it myself?

I can help. All you do is unzip the file and drop the unzipped folder named "gbzh35-helipads" into your community folder. You will be good to go then.

. Great video, I fly choppers a lot and ran into a small issue wanted to add taxi/edge lighting. Tried to use light rows but to no avail (lights would not light). Could you possible expand this video to give choice of edge lighting. Love your channel. Thanks in advance.

i dont know why, but used the same prozedure as in your video, but my helipads seems to be pink textures after "build packages" :( if i had the community folder clear and only the new build helipad scenery inside, all seems fine - bt with other sceneries in the vommunity folder, the helipad looks pink textures :-/ any idea there is a compatible problem with other sceneries?

Thanks for watching. There is one of the pads that the texture is not attached. It is the octagon pad, but I might be wrong. There is a way to fix it, but it is too complicated to explain in KZbin chat. Which pad is it? I have used my own textures for these helipads successfully.

Followed your earlier tutorial and managed to add some helipads on roofs! But do you also know how to convert it to a runway so you can choose it as a start point perhaps?

I actually was going to do a second video on making a start point. But, I was not able to do it because of limits in SDK. Apparently the SDK limits the runways and start points to snap-to-ground. I could do it but I could not get the start point elevated. I am still looking though to see if I can figure out a way.

@@martinlukas3945 Yea I haven't been able to make a start point that is not at ground level. I suspect it is limitations in this version of SDK. Time will tell if that function becomes available later. Good luck, Bro.

You can create helipads that can be used for takeoffs. I did this with the heliports I created this weekend. I accomplished it by placing one of the Asobo stock helipads below each rooftop helipad. Not sure there is a workaround to avoid having to do this, but it works. By chance, I forgot to add one of these to one of the heliports I created, and when I restarted the sim I found the new airport was not found in the main menu search. I went back and added one, and on restart the sim immediately found the missing listing. These Asobo pads are locked to the ground, but by placing one below the rooftop pads (in my case they were almost two hundred feet below - it was a twelve-story hospital) you get the option of using the rooftop pad as a start point. During the build you can even set the direction the helo will be pointing when you spawn in. Worked great!
