I repurpose those inverted dish soap bottles for all kinds of things. In my car detailing supplies they hold foam gun soap, tire and wheel cleaner and leather conditioner. You should try one for your maple syrup.

0:01 As soon as I saw that yellow racquet, I immediately knew what that was, Brock! Our friend bought a two-pack and gave us the extra mosquito-zapping racquet! It’s so gratifying to hear the crackling of a frying winged insect! Mosquitos are killed on contact. Flies however, usually require two zaps as the first contact usually stuns them. My hundred-pound German Shepherd usually gets to the downed flies before I can give them the coup-de-grace; he loves sky raisins! 😂

I won't comment on the microplastics issue because that's still being actively researched, but in regards to wooden boards being inherently less sanitary, that's simply not true. Wood has natural antimicrobial properties and any bacteria that manages to seep between the grain well eventually die so long as the board is kept clean and dry overall. Plastic can go into the dishwasher though, so I think they're on equal footing when it comes to sanitation.
@BrockMcGoff2 күн бұрын
Thanks. I wish more people would take a data driven approach to stuff like this. I say that about wood boards because I’ve worked at a couple restaurants and never saw them (mostly due to all the meat being handled). They’re probably fine in the home if you have good cleaning habits, but I still prefer plastic.
@LyonTheGreat2 күн бұрын
@@BrockMcGoffyeah the reason why wooden boards aren't nearly as common in professional kitchens is specifically because they're more expensive and cannot go into the dishwasher. In my area I usually see them being used to prepare sushi, but that's about it.

Wood cutting boards are definitely better than plastic ones, it is just factually not true that they're less sanitary.
@BrockMcGoffКүн бұрын
How are they better? Wood *can* be as sanitary, if you hand wash and dry after each use and treat the surface with the right oils. Do most people do that? Probably not. But plastic boards can be machine washed, bleached, etc. (and most people take advantage of that). So in practice, plastic > wood. That’s why every commercial kitchen uses it.
@farkasambrus5741Күн бұрын
@BrockMcGoff Commercial kitchens use them because they're cheap and light, so much easier to move them around and replace them regularly. Wooden boards self heal if the board is maintained properly, the the wood fibres swell and close the small cuts. On the other hand plastic boards wear out overtime and the grooves get deeper and harder to clean. For home use wooden cutting boards are a much better choice in my opinion, but I also respect if you prefer the plastic ones, and see where you're coming from.

@@rehtea4 makes sense! Part of the problem is we have a very old neighbor whose yard is overgrown, and there are tons of wasp nests that are never removed. So those wasps make their way into our yard when they kids are outside, probably sensing the water (kiddie pool, squirt guns, etc.). If it was a reasonable number, I wouldn't mess with them. But when I have like 10-20 swarming around a 1 and 3 year old, it can be stressful (and we've all gotten stung).
