I almost can’t believe how freaking cool and nice these two officers were I rarely see cops that are lenient and that laid back. They let him hug his family, they didn’t handcuff him, they didn’t tow the car, they didn’t try to get too much information out of him, and then they empathize with him by saying they’re sorry for what he’s going through.. we need more like them. Some people just don’t understand how fast an encounter can change and turn into a confrontational conflict that produces PTSD-like symptoms.

The worst part is these great officers go unnoticed bc there wasn’t a violent conflict. If they had tried to order him to the ground and drew their guns or tasers, no doubt in my mind, he may not be a violent person but he would have immediately started resisting. And that’s how people get shot and killed every day. These officers address the situation and knew this guy is only hurting himself at this point. He’s definitely drinking or abusing substances to forget something, either child abuse or something more recent. Either way cudos to the officers. You guys are hero’s, you handled someone that’s in whole lot of misery and you guys didn’t add to it. I truly hope that boy can turn his life around and get to treatment, until then a cell may be the safest place he can be.

This is so true. Policing takes a certain type of mindset. You have to be able to gamble and bargain for compliance in the safest way you can. It’s literally one of the only ways officers can be truly safe. This is most effective in their own neighborhoods, especially where they grew up, where everyone knows everyone, even at the very least blocks themselves in the city. Community policing, serving and protecting!

I see videos of nice cops actually quite a bit. I seen them let people smoke cigarettes and talk to their families give their phones to their families all kinds of stuff like that. And I've seen him do it with whites, blacks, and Hispanics don't really see Asians getting arrested that often to be honest. But these two guys were definitely super chill.
