I listened to this on your podcast last week. Sadly, I do believe she was murdered by the 2 men she believed to be former Marines. Her kind nature was used to harm her. Heartbreaking for her son. I hope one day he gets answers.

Come to think of it, the case seems solvable. I am curious about this ashtray full of cigarette brands Dori didn't usually smoke, for example. Knowing how unscrupulous police can be sometimes, I hope these weren't lost. There is also the vague possibility that the two men were paid by that ex-husband, who suspiciously reacted in a deadpan way for somebody so close to the victim. Seems plausible to me, if he owns his company and then has enough money to hire low profile brutes... The quirky location of the car makes me think the two mystery suspects were indeed involved in the destruction of the house.

The former live-in boyfriend seems rather curious. He's the source of the information about her inviting two younger guys home. He knows where she lives. He's one of the last people to talk to her. I'd also note that her alleged habit of going to multiple bars in the same night but only drinking water doesn't make sense. Makes one wonder where that info came from.

I find the theory of the 2 Marines unrealistic. She seemed pretty street smart, and fiery so bringing 2 strange men home would not be a good idea. Also, the ex boyfriend is the only one that really corroborates the story, and no one has any real details about the men. I hope they can find what happened to her.

No offense but some of the families in these cases are just deplorable. Police are not magicians, they can't just solve every case, especially a case like Dori, which has essentially no clues to go forward with. Come on people, I can't be the only one that realizes that the police can't solve the case when they have basically zero leads. Seriously, what does Dori's family expect, no evidence of perps at the house, car is completely incinerated, no DNA, no fingerprints, no body, no blood evidence, there's absolutely nothing to work with.

I think dori just had a really good heart and really cared about veterans. But I don’t think they were veterans at all but using that story.

It seems she was already gone or incapacitated while thugs took over her home. Men often toss used bottles whereever. The son turning over the bottles could have given police something to go on. Its Florida. If they are still in police custody and viable. They could be checked for DNA. The family needs to hound them and write it up in the paper . It seems authorities only do something if people make a big deal out of it. I am trusting. To a point. I have allowed friends of my children to stay with us because they were put out by parents or spouses. But to just open my doors to complete strangers isn't going to happen. I may give them a few dollars and food but that's it. I was more apt to help people years ago. But now I view everyone with a skeptical eye. Its actually sad. She probably trusted their story and invited them for a drink. It is horrible not knowing what happened and whoever is responsable gets to go on their merry way and live their lives. It is an unfortunate reality that many who destroy and leave havoc in their wake often live charmed lives. Fate and the masses like corruption.

Call it victim blaming all you like, but all evidence points to her happily welcoming two strange men to stay the night with her alone in her home, and that is incredibly naive and dumb. In all likelihood they had their way with her, but were not prepared to face up to SA charges and prison sentences, so they decided to wipe all the evidence.

I agree, I think she invited those men inside and really believed they were veterans. They had I’ll intent and were nothing but trouble. I can’t fanthom what did they do which would lead to killing dori and torching her whole house and car! Sadly I don’t think it will be solved because no one knew these strangers. Best bet is to try to recover her remains and hopefully they find her. I doubt they would stay close by and would just flee.

A lot of these crime stories involve people hanging out at bars. If you need to go to a bar to find companionship, friends, etc, you should probably seek other outlets. Bars are usually a net negative... for the waste of money and unhealthy alcohol use.

This is kinda random, but I know you cover cases where people are still missing. On another channel, I heard about the discovery of the bodies of a couple in November 2000 in Hawaii's Volcano National Park. They were found about 300 ft from the Volcano and still haven't been identified. Just wondering if you have a case where a couple is missing..maybe if they had plans to travel the world or something?? It wasn't detailed in terms of ages or anything. Man and woman.

Why would she just go missing by her own free will?? She is not too far from Miami. Florida has a lot of shady people. I use to live there. This woman's disappearance is eerily similar to the unsolved 2006 Gainesville, FL murders of Heather and Kira Radcliffe. They were found deceased after a fire had been intentionally started to hide evidence of the crime. Their dog was also found to have been put in a room with the door closed.

You're confusing the words purposely and purposefully... Although not quite as badly with this particular story, I've heard them confused a couple of times in your podcasts recently, as well as past videos. I keep meaning to say something but since I usually listen as I'm falling asleep, I just haven't commented yet. Purposely- something you do ON purpose. PurposeFully-something you do WITH purpose. Purposely means "on purpose" or "not by accident," while purposefully means "indicating the existence of a purpose." Although very similar, in context "purposefully" is usually used to indicate a greater level of intent or deliberate aim, as opposed to "purposely." It doesn't sound like there's much difference between the two but there is... "The house fire was set on purpose to destroy evidence, as opposed to it being an accidental blaze." *Purposely' means "on purpose"; 'purposefully' means "indicating the existence of a purpose." As I said earlier, tonight they really are pretty much interchangeable but there have been quite a few times when they weren't and I just thought I'd put a bug in your ear 😉. Thank you so much for your hard work! My attention was caught by the recent trip to Belize and the family saying the photos from that trip were spread out in the bathroom. Could that trip be part of why she was targeted? Was her companion going to Belize for something nefarious and she got caught up in it? Were these guys there by appointment to get rid of her because she knew something or was considered a risk? Did they go through the photos of Belize after they killed her to remove pics of certain people or places? Were they not trying to burn the house down so much as burn certain items in the guise of a house fire? Did they dump the car at the ramp because they had a boat waiting there? Is that why they apparently had no car of their own?

I think Dori made herself disappear. She deliberately went to those bars beforehand, and, perhaps, getting to the first location late was actually intentional. I think she wanted people to see her. I think she was creating a story and witnesses. I'm not sure why she wanted to disappear, and I suspect she may have had help. I don't think those 2 men ever had intentions of staying with her, and their presence in the bar may have been done as a favor as part of the ruse. I seriously doubt they even went to her house. I think the argument the neighbors heard was someone else, and it was staged. Did she go into witness protection? Maybe. Or maybe she just put herself into her own version of witness protection. I think her trip to South America was part of it, but not sure if it was done to throw off the trail or if it was a scouting expedition on where she might move to.
