My background is anthropology. I love seeing your expositions on the deep and ancient bond between culture and food. A reason your videos are so popular is you are able to partake of foreign (to you) powerfully cultural foods and truly enjoy them, while bringing the joy of those tastes to us. Many of us could not cross those cultural lines. I recall your description of eating grasshoppers on village mole in Mexico. Though I will not be able to partake of roasted grasshoppers myself, I got to enjoy them through you. I would call you a food anthropologist!

Southern Thai is MY favourite food of all. I just LOVE Thai food and the way the Thai live to eat. The food is out of this world. I would have left the UK and lived in Thailand had it not been sooooo hard to do so. It’s harder to be a resident there than anywhere else in the world let alone buying a home.
