It is weird to think "Hobo" and cell phone at the same time. No insult, just a observation❤

@@katbow5922 In South Korea almost all homeless own cell phones. A way to find work. Lot's of US homeless got free Obama phones and many use them for finding work. I didn't have a cell phone until I turned 66 and started drawing Social security. I had to have a steady way to stay in touch with my case workers for all the other benefits I was getting signed up for. Hadn't had my own phone ( or really needed one ) since I left home at 15.

If you put a tent up under a tree research it to see if it sheeds limbs you don't want a big branch falling on you

baloney. I've been homeless 3x and never had to cook a meal. The SA mission and some church offer free food and you can get non-cook staples via the Food bank and food stamps. You dont need a power station. Join a $20 per month, 24-7 gym or go to the library to charge your devices. All you need is a hammock and a tarp over it. I used this setup on the roofs of many abandoned buildings. The hammock only has to not touch the ground, with you in it. so a chimney and a satellite dish or TV antennae suffice for a "hang" MOVE north/south twice a year to avoid heat/cold. Amazon sells a full body bugnet "suit' for $30. You can get somebody to let you use their home address for mail and Fed Ex. Offer them half a $20 bill and they will want the other half of it. Banks will accept such a torn- in-hall bill.

you need a BICYCLE when you're homeless, so you can get around quickly and easily, with a load of stuff. Most city busses have bike racks on their front. Keep your valuables in a pack and keep the pack ON you, or at least, within your reach/secured. Put your spare thrift store clothing, toilet tissue, plastic bags, kitting litter, etc either in a heavy duty drum-liner or TWO of the lighter duty bags, one inside of the other. Keep some quality duct tape for repairs.

Bicycle ( and a massive chain and giant lock ) is very useful. Easier to haul stuff on a bike than you back or a shopping cart.

😮Never drink water from rivers.

If you are an old country boy or vet etc you learn how to safely do so. Like a sink hole for starters. A hole in a river bank a few feet or so from the water dug just deep enough for water to come up. Draw the water in a container of some sort. Then strain thru a coffee filter into a another container. Like a large pop bottle. Next a tiny bit of bleach and let it sit. OR a improvised solar distiller made from two pop bottles and duct tape. Half fill one bottle and connect to the spout of the other pop bottle. Set in the sun with a rise under the duct tape part. Sooner or later the heat of the sun's rays will cause the dirty water to condense as " pure " water in the second pop bottle. Also remember that swiftly running water purifies itself ( to a degree anyway ) downstream.

Some folks grow up in a gated community. Or a high class neighborhood. I have meet folks that couldn't start a fire without lighter fluid and a long torch type lighter.
