When I was beginning to get strong, I loved benching in a shirt because it makes you feel like a monster handling the heavier weight. I converted to raw Bench when I started getting real strength because I began to feel as if took away from the legitimacy of the lift. I know for a fact and from experience that Bench shirts can deliver several hundred lbs. all that being said, it’s a personal choice and I applaud the 700 lbs lift. The shirt does NOTHING the total pressure a[plied on the wrists, forearms, and shoulders. Good for you brother.

Lol...this vid is a PERFECT example of why I never use a spotter. Even when doing my max of 315 with a suicide grip....I wont even bother if i'm not 100% sure i can at least get it up to the safety pegs, which is the easy part. Spotters jump in way too early, are often off balance, then try to lift way more than they need to while sometimes pushing it forward. In 20 years of bench pressing, i've never had a problem with it and consider it ultimately safer, since i have control over all aspects of what's going on.

The bar is 44lbs + 4 weights. 225-44=181. 181/4=45.25, which is stupid. So I'm assuming they counted 45lbs for the bar and all 4 plates, which would bring us to 225lbs (although factually it should be 220lbs, but ok). If I am being completely honest, these really do not look like 44lbs plates... but whatever.

How big role can technique play? I look bigger than quite a few of the guys. I probably can only do 3-4 reps. I'm about to start a strength training program though, wendler 5/3/1. My technique is pretty shitty, I go to the middle of my chest and I don't think I tuck my elbows in as you should do. Could I lift more if I get the proper technique? Or will I just prevent snapcity?

I wouldn't worry. It's a meaningless exercise people do to one up each other and show off. Give me a soccer player and I will show you someone in shape

Matt T Why? Just cause your a fat fuck at 25%? unless he is genuinely skinny and weak i guess it isn't, but if he works out and has a great diet, is around 180 pounds and looks great, thats definitely something to be proud of lmao

I stand at 5'9 in height weigh 167lbs at 8% body fat pretty much year round, I'm healthy as fuck there's nothing wrong with having low body fat so long as it's maintained in a healthy way. I compete in professional calisthenics so lower body fat gives me an overall lower body weight making my overall strength to weight ratio better.
