I've read with Thoth for twenty years or so. I love it. It's by far my favorite deck to work with. Getting into it does require a certain amount of Astrological, Planetary, Kabballah study. You'll also find alot of Alchemic and Thelema imagery. Especially when looking at the Lovers and Art cards. Beautiful allusions to the Gnostic Mass coupled with sacred blood and gluten imagery. lol I could go on about this deck for hours.You'll adore it, just give it some time and familiarize yourself with it. :)

yes the Thoth deck certainly is the most "updated" taro deck. It is richer in qabalistic symbolism and therefore more useful to a practicing magical student. One example is the six of swords, which the thoth deck attributes Science to, or mercury in aquarius.

I started with the Thoth deck in high school (I had NO IDEA what level of deck I was shuffling). After a few years, I finally picked up a Rider Waite and learned to read cards with method and craft. Now, after 15 years and more knowledge of Kabbalah, Tarot, and astrology...my very first deck continues to reveal new mysteries. I use the Thoth deck for the big questions mostly. I have also found it is not an 'easy' deck, meaning lends itself more to shadow work or moments when you are facing extreme changes. I rarely use it in reading for others.

Shadows capes Tarot is my favorite among my 60-some decks. The best thing about collecting is gaining a new appreciation for the broad interpretation of individual cards. I enjoy seeing the collections of others. It is exciting to see images among decks I do not own. Thank you for sharing.

My first deck was also the original Mythic Tarot as a teen. I kinda fell out of it and when I was ready to read again I purchased a Rider-Waite deck. For some reason my original deck of Mythic Tarot and my other decks for that matter all disappeared. I'm hoping that they turn up at my parents house...I went ahead and purchased the new version of Mythic Tarot but it's not the same. Hopefully, my old deck will return to me.

I totally agree with what you said about the Thoth deck. I LOVE it precisely BECAUSE I was so much into Astrology before becoming proficient with Tarot and it just gave me a much more comfortable "way in" into Tarot. I don't use Thoth deck for readings so often though, only for like studying. I find the rider waite much more welcoming in its imagery, but whenever I get a card out and look at it, my minds eye sees the thoth version. I find the fact that the peeps have a word ascribed to them very limiting when reading, but it is quite helpful as a mnemonic system. So, that's where I place the Thoth Deck in my life so far - It is a study deck. And happy birthday, for I am typing it on the 14th. Blessed be!

So late to the party here, but my heart fluttered when you presented the Earth Magic deck. It was my first oracle deck at age 11, and I still own it today. It has such a gorgeous, earthy genuine feel to it. When I use it, it feels like sinking my feet in the dirt and it reconnects me to the rhythms of nature in such a way that I can see those cycles in myself without even realizing it. It's such a nurturing deck and I almost never see people talk about it, so it was very cool knowing you work with it as well. Much love! 💕

Hello Kelly-Ann Maddox, I normally don't post, but I've been watching your channel for a couple days now so what the heck. I've had the Thoth deck for about a year now. It was gifted to me by my husband, but I've only started using it for about 4 months now. My previous Tarot experience and only was with the Rider Waite. I gifted it to my sister because I love her and I was really really excited to get into the Thoth deck. I have had some pretty remarkable revelations with it. If your an avid reader you can skim through the book and get quite a bit. Just the images alone have made my heart skip a beat. Powerful strong emotions, but I am putting it down for now because there really is SO much going on. I'd like to learn more, plus Aleister Crowley really interests me. I just bought the Shadowscapes Tarot in this lovely little shop in town. These cards are right up my alley and am super excited to use them. Lots of good reviews. On another note to the Thoth deck, the book I have is The Crowley Tarot the Handbook to the Cards by Akron, Hajo Banzhaf. It's kind of a thin book but it has a whole lot of information in it. References to old literature and poems, analysis and description, so so much more. I noticed you have a much larger book than I have in your chit chat video with your bf. I 'd love to hear about what you think of it. Sorry for the rant, but that's payback your rants. haha Just joking, you're great. Thanks!

I love the Thoth deck. It was my first deck, and so far the only one I know how to read. I absolutely love the imagery, and I feel that you're right to want a basic knowledge of at least astrology.

Oh, I love that Revelations deck! That is one I have never seen before in local shops. The Thoth was the second deck I ever owned and had it nearly as long as my Rider-Waite and never used it. I just couldn't bond with it, perhaps because it was more along the Kabbalah lines and that's not a path that has really "spoken" to me. Which was sad for me, because the illustrations are beautiful. I adore Thoth not only for the imagery but the syncretism and correspondences. When you feel you have a handle on it you should look up the Mutational Alchemy tarot. This deck adds to the Thoth tarot with the I Ching. You can tell the creators of this deck put a ton of blood, sweat, and tears into its creation. Truly remarkable in my opinion. Crystal Visions tarot is one of my absolute favorite deck, has bonded and has been right on from day one! Love it so much!! Also the the Divine Legacy deck is wonderful!!!

Great display of many interesting decks. I own the Osho Zen, the Revelations, the Thoth and Goddess Oracle. I liked the John Holland Oracle Cards. I have many other decks and recently checked them out on the Internet and was pleasantly surprised that many of the decks have appreciated in value, since I have bought them, especially my Dali Universal Deck, which I bought many years ago and which I love. Each Card is an original painting by Dali and signed differently on each Card. It is so precious now, that I only use it for myself. It has incredible energy. I also got the Leonardo da Vinci Universal deck, which I also treasure, though careworn.

Finally broke down and bought The Wild Unknown Tarot..my birthday is Monday (woohoo 44😉) so I bought it. I kept coming back to it and like you said if you buy this instead of something else..lol..i wanted Oracle Of Echoes but it sold out a few days ago..no more till first of the year...ive almost bought The Wild Unknown many times...yay! I have quite a few decks...I also have been drawn to Thoth and my study has been on hold because like you I want to explore more the relation between Tarot and astrology and the tree of life-more first...because I want to do this deck justice...I also have the two John Holland decks and love them very much...but now I have done the reverse of you...after being drawn to so many decks...I have returned to the Rider Waite with a fresh eye. And now using it as my main deck for the past few months and wish to continue to do so through this winter..I think to deepen my understanding of Tarot...but my other decks will patiently wait for me to return in the spring...enjoy seeing your decks and enjoy your videos. I absolutely love the Thoth tarot deck! It is my very first deck. I wanted to know more about numerology, Hebrew letters, astrology, color interpretations, and symbology. There is a wealth of knowledge in this deck. When I study a card I learn so much that can be used outside of tarot reading. The most important thing to me is the diversity of the characters. There are not many black/white characters. You have red, green, purple, and blue people. I love it but you need to study it to get a full/complete understanding. I feel like if you understand the Thoth than you can work with other decks easily. I use this deck for more precise answers and I find many men gravitate more towards this deck due to the precision and logic. My next purchase will be the Dame Darcy❤️❤️

The first deck ever given to me was the Mythic Deck by a publican who was over hearing my sister and me chatting at the bar about me learning Tarot. It comes with te black book and a bag and I have not used it in years. You re welcome to it should still need a deck.

Apparently this is a 'continental style' deck, and the astro-alpha-numeric associations are not those set by the Golden Dawn. Something to do with Papus, Etteilla, and the Masonic houses of Europe in the 1800s.... Below is the website of the deck's creator(s). Have fun! Hi Kelly, I've recently been drawn to tarot again, and while my first deck is based in the Rider-Waite Smith style, I have been reading Crowley's Book of Thoth. I would love for you to share the 16-video series you mentioned in the video. My second deck was Thoth. I bought it after being completely mesmerised by Mr Crowley (you can thank Ozzy for that one!) and after reading 2 of his books. Reading but not understanding. I completely understand where you are coming from with your comments on this deck. To be honest it has laid dormant for a while now because we just don't click. I feel a presence from these cards that is very intelligent, almost scientific in its need to be interpreted and that's a way my brain doesn't work, I'm more intuitive in that respect. I actually feel that it would guide me to a wrong interpretation because my misunderstanding of it is so vast so therefore it is not my choice of card to work with. It's a shame but there it is. So if you pull a card, say 7 of cups, in any of your decks, would you tell the client the same card meaning as that of the RW deck? Is it completely different?

Butterfly Magic with Hot Tea I will do this as well, but I only have three decks. I use RW, Hermetic and the Dali Tarot. I find the Hermetic has a lot of vast differences in the energy of the minor cards, and the guide for the Dali points towards his unique surrealism style adding new layers to the traditional meaning. Some cards I think depend on the person too, like the four of pentacles according to RW reads as a positive card but I always get a negative message from it.

I was given a deck during a house clearance, I tried as an advanced reader to read them. NO WAY! You need to learn Kabbalah and basic Hebrew alphabet. So again you are bang on with my feelings.

I'm curious if you've ever looked at the Mary El Tarot and what your thoughts are about it. I recently received it for my birthday and I'm totally in love with the images, but sort of like Thoth, she draws on a lot of Kabbalistic symbolism that I'm not familiar with, so it will be a while until I can read with it confidently. BTW the Revelations Tarot looks awesome!

You have enabled me with the Dame Darcy Deck as I was looking for something nautical in my collection. I have the Thoth and wierdly read it as I do other tarot decks as I am into astrology and my Tarot of Vampyres was as excellent as ever for the astrology. Kabalah doesn't interest me.

The Thoth quite frankly drives me mad... I've never had as much trouble understanding the symbology of any other deck. But I still feel drawn to it and like you I feel like there's a reason for that. I think not only is it a very very rich and "psychological" deck in itself but it also helps to understand the universal concept of tarot. It's probably the deck that encouraged me most to go psyche-diving and it really challenges my universal understanding of each card.

Thoth is a stunning deck and one of the handful that I own. I have little understanding of the Kabbalah and was more turned on by the astrological symbolism which I definitely found acted as additional keys to each image. It is a very technical deck though and I think it certainly seems that Crowley was tenacious in demanding a high level of intellectual understanding for anyone to use this device effectively. It makes it sound a little bit inflexible and rigid though when I say that, but I have found that in terms of use that it's felt like a fairly intuitive process with spontaneous arising of insight so not too mechanical :). I think already having a taste for some of the ingredients is definitely helpful though. The first tarot book I owned which was for the Rider Waite would also explicitly talk about the Kabbalah as well but for some reason I have just never been able to get any of it to stick, even after that and using Thoth and coming across references in all sorts of other places. My mind just slides right around it!

The Revelations Tarot reminds me so much of the first deck I ever got around age 12. It is the Sacred Rose Tarot. Seriously one of the most beautiful decks I've ever seen. The Artwork is very 1970's and trippy. Inspired by stained glass its A little Art Nouveau with Bright, Beautiful colors and symbolism. I just ordered a new deck as mine got wet in the sprinklers after leaving them outside :( You would adore it, I don't see much about it online or on youtube, which is strange. Before writing this comment, you might have done well to take the time to consider that many other people have watched this video and absorbed its information with no difficulty. Perhaps this could have prompted you to wonder if maybe there is nothing wrong with my delivery but rather something a little different about your ability to take it in. Secondly, there is a handy little button on EVERY SINGLE KZbin video which allows you to SLOW IT DOWN, making it more preferable to your personal pacing needs. So I suggest you DO THAT in future instead of being so fucking rude.
