Kane coming to Detroit has given me a new favorite player. As a kid I loved watching Igor Larionov after he retired I didn’t have that favorite anymore. Kane is my favorite.

I hadn't seen the third period shots, but it sure looked like the Wings were getting beat to the puck a lot in the third. It would be interesting to see how many leads we have blown this season. But right now I'm just happy for the two and continue to hope we can somehow start plugging the leaks when we get a lead. I think if anyone other than Lyon was in net, we would have lost this one too.

As much as the Wings defense has its agency and its agenda, the Kings offense has just as much of its own. The Kings had lost 7 in a row, one of which to the same Red Wings just a few short days ago, and were in serious danger of making it 8 in a row once the second intermission began. For as much as they're struggling right now, the Kings are a good, solid, playoff caliber team, and they gave it what they had in the third. I can't and won't disagree that this defense still needs work and refinement, but especially with the way the first two periods played out I don't have a very long list of defensive blame to hand out for this game. Not to mention, if the Wings stay out of the box the score is more like 5-2 or 5-1 and we're begging the coaching staff to use this game as a benchmark in video analysis lol.

Man, Jeff Petry total liability out there, 8:52 clips the goal...falls down...and does not hustle to recover leading to a goal, roughing at 9:35 led to a PP Goal, 10:30 risky gamble on the takeaway attempt in the O-zone leads to an odd man rush. You got the lead, make the safe play and don't pinch up!

Even though we never were losing at all for the entire game, it felt like we were playing from behind

We were the better team for the first two periods by and large; maybe not for all 40 minutes consecutively, but the Wings were outshooting, out chancing, and clearly outscoring the Kings while simultaneously keeping a good, albeit struggling team to only a handful of great chances and zero goals at even strength. The third period is really what skewed the final results, as the L8 loomed ever larger and the Kings started playing with desperation and sheer will.

Why cant the wings be this fired up for every game!? This looked the a totally different team compared to last couple games. Defense still needs to olug some leaks but at least they were going hard to the corners and being pricks out there. And the offense can really make something out of nothing when they get going.

Absolutely not. This game, yes, but we don't have anyone who can really be the definitive 1G, and it's been killing us. I'd trade Husso, Reimer, and Kane for a solid 1G + a future 1C or two solid D, and make Lyon 2G
