In regards to clogged arteries, the regression can take a long time, years even, so you will need patience and determination and not lose ''faith'' if you don't see short-term results, but keep eating healthy and you will get there eventually.

This works! Keep going! I’ve been doing this for 5 years. I was 230 and now I’ve been 150lbs for 2 years. Look into the book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. The best thing I learned is that it’s not all or nothing, instead it’s what you do over the long haul. If you oops, just continue with what you were doing before!

I buy frozen veggies of all kinds. Put them on a sheet pan or a regular baking pan. Bake for about 40 minutes. Put garlic powder, a tad of salt and a tad of pepper. PUT THEM INTO AN ORDINARY BLENDER AND MAKE A SAUCE! Store in small containers and put into the freezer. Can be poured over each and every dish that you make to get the servings of veggies needed. Don't forget the kale, broccoli, tomato, collards. Put a little prepared mustard in. I pour this over riced cauliflower combined with lentils. Great for breakfast. Have a Happy New Year! Dr. Barnard has changed my life.

@@kittykat717 Yes, add water and get the consistency that you like as a sauce. Don't forget the asparagus. If you don't like it too green, add more tomatoes! Dairy cheese was the last holdout I had when I went vegan. It took me several months to totally give it up. Soon after letting it go I lost my cravings for it. Plus I did eat vegan store bought cheeses for a while, but rarely eat them either anymore. For me nutritional yeast does not substitute for cheese taste, though I love it on popcorn. Great show guys!!!, I’m 9 yrs vegan now and feeling pretty good at 68.

Being a little bit vegan is like being a little bit pregnant lol. Not really just kidding. Kudos to you for changing your diet. It's a really interesting journey. I've been doing this for 30 years and I love it. It's so much fun to go to the natural food store and look at all the food. You just have to avoid all the junk food traps, but it's a learning experience and there's so many really cool things to cook. Get some really good cookbooks it's just fun. Just too much fun! Today on the menu I'm making vegetarian cabbage rolls with lentils, rice and mushrooms and spices and broth. I got the recipe off KZbin. I'm so excited! Happy New Year to you!

@@paulamoors me too! I actually just started down that road about 2 weeks ago and I really do feel different. It's sugar. That was my nemesis. One thing I have found is that when you get that sugar out of your diet, everything else starts tasting sweet, even beans. It's kind of weird. I think your taste buds get more sensitive or something and also I feel so much more grounded. I've been eating a lot of millet and kasha and things like that things that are completely unprocessed and of course vegetables and all that, but it really has made a difference in how I feel. Some of the things that have been helpful are carob powder which has its own sweetness without sugar. I use that in a smoothie with a banana and almond milk and a green powder and it actually tastes kind of like a milkshake. Also roasted brussel sprouts and broccoli and cauliflower are the bomb! Anything roasted so good...

According to the plant based GI Dr Will Bulsiewicz, having fiber during constipation makes it worse because the constipation blocks fiber, which ends up creating methane in your guts. Methane further reduces motility. He cures constipation with magnesium citrate, then he recommends fiber.
@AmiNorml2
@AmiNorml2 Жыл бұрын
For coffee, I grind coffee beans and use stevia to sweeten it and I'm a mocha lover, so I add a splash of dark chocolate almond milk. I used to make my own chocolate syrup but I cut out a lot of sugar by using the dark chocolate almond milk. I use TVP crumbles for ground beef and use it for tacos, burritos, spaghetti meat sauce and I put it on my flatbread pizzas instead of ground beef or sausage. Btw, eating a plant based diet has improved managing liver cirrhosis, which I got from NAFLD. Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease due to obesity, lack of exercise, drinking vodka cocktails and beer and eating fast foods and processed foods. Since my cirrhosis diagnosis in 2020, I avoid a lot of food products that come in a bag, box, or a can. I'm a big-time label reader checking out the ingredients and the amounts of salt, sugars, and fat. 😊

@@silverwater211 You're right; beans, especially kidney beans need to be cooked before eating because of the lectins. Cooking inactivates them though. @@Gardengirlie04 I'll go look for it. The chickpea salad seems a little bit more like you know tuna salad to me, but I'll experiment with it. Quiche you should be able to make with tofu and vegetables.

I’m going to switch from brown rice to eating quinoa because in quinoa I just realized on the nutritional panel one serving has 22% of your daily calcium and 10% of your daily iron. Rice has zero on both. Cooking it in the rice cooker on brown rice setting

It also contains phytic acid and oxalic acid, so you won't be able to absorb most of that calcium or iron.

I would like Dr. Bernard to do a show or cover the topic of Testosterone replacement for individuals on a plant based diet who are engaged in weight training to stay fit and maintain lean muscle mass as we age. I would like to hear his opinion on the pros and cons of this therapy and his recommendations for the aging adult male population.

Hi I'm new to this and I am searching how to get better health through better nutrition and have found so many videos about vegans who have converted to a carnivore diet and had amazing health benefits but very few videos going the other way so this must be saying something?

Yes, pizza without cheese is delicious. Though I'm on the fence about tofu, I don't like the look. I want to try to incorporate soy, but I don't think I cud do tofu. I wish I cud try a sample like grocery stores make samples for customers or a sample taste @ a restaurant. (a restaurant won't do it, though, not that is an option.)

Do we still have to count 5 fruits and/or vegetables per day, as well as having some legumes and wholegrain/starch? Or does a vegan diet mean that because we are constantly eating healthy fruit and veg as part of our meals and snacks that we don't have to be strict with the counting? Thanks for any help and advice. I've started new this year and don't want to look back! :)

Chuck or Carleigh: is there a brand of hummus you guys like? Or do you do homemade? I’ve tried several recipes but haven’t found one that beats some of the store brands. Just curious.

I agree. I for some reason cannot make hummus as good as they make it in the store brands. I just bought some that was smoked. Oh my goodness it was like heaven! It was so good!!
