And how would Dr Kahn ever be able to get to know all those young exvegans? They dont even know each other except for youtube presences. Everyone else is making many grand pronouncements about why this exvegan or that exvegan failed by diagnosing their failure through analyses of their youtube videos. I dont think any of them have figured out anything.. whether they apply chro nometer analyses to the said youtubers reported food intake or whether they just spout off about how harmful raw food diets or juice fasting is for the body and that is what the exvegans were doing so that must b the reason they failed. betzi b>> I agree with some of what you said, but there is more to it than that. KZbin can tell you some things, but there are other ways to get a more in-depth reason for vegans going back to animals foods. All it takes is some research, and you can find lengthy and detailed reasons in various articles and blogs, often by the ex-vegans themselves, or people who have studied the phenomenon, including other vegans. You don't necessarily have to know someone to know what their motivations are for any given behavior, assuming they are being honest. And why would they lie if they were staunch vegans with a high "moral" or health agenda before they went astray? If you don't know the reasons, or if Dr. Williams doesn't know the reasons (though I suspect he was being untruthful,) I will tell you. And it's not a "grand pronouncement," but rather knowledge gleaned from reading in-depth interviews and essays from the vegans themselves. The vast majority of vegans who go back to animal foods do so because of failing health. Now, just like many people will jump to conclusions like you said and mention raw foods or juice fasting as the reason, many vegans also jump to conclusions, (or outright lie,) and bring up the same tired excuses. Say them along with me.......they "didn't do it right." They were "not eating enough calories." They failed to supplement with the necessary (and seemingly ever-growing list of) vital nutrients not in a vegan diet. They had no will power. They were never REALLY "in it for the animals." They were corrupted by omnivore family members or a carnivore society that frowned upon them. I know you've heard them all and probably used a few yourself, but it's hogwash. They got sick because plants are simply not enough to support good health for the majority of people. Yes, I know you can come up with some examples of those who can, but that is meaningless. It's overall tendencies that count, not the exceptions to the rule. I can point to total carnivores that are perfectly healthy, does that prove all vegetable foods are bad for you?
@betzib80215 жыл бұрын
@@banishedfromthedwarfplanet530 oh, Banished, maybe you are right about that. I sure dont know. I certainly could say all those statements along with you...heard them plenty. I dont fault people for eating meat...shoot i dont know anyone who eats like i do. I havent tried to figure out why those young people gave up veganism really. I work with young people and i dont try to figure out much that they do because in a little while they usually do something else. I figure im just not gonna know why. Anyway i do hope plants will keep sustaining me because if i have to eat meat i swear somebody would have to give it to me in a pill..it tastes so disgusting..but then i never did learn how to cook either. Thanks for your honest response. I can see your points.
@banishedfromthedwarfplanet5305 жыл бұрын
betzi b>> When you say you don't know anyone who eats like you do, what do you mean by that? Are you partaking in some kind of bizarre ritualistic way of eating that was originally practiced by the ancient tribes of Babylonia? At any rate, good for you that you can sustain yourself on a vegan diet. I tried it myself for almost a year, but my mental (insert joke here) and physical health took a terrible downturn and I had to go back to eating at least some animal products, mainly fish. That brought my health back up to where it was before the vegan diet. I agree that it is mainly young people who give up on a vegan diet, but don't forget that there are plenty of middle-aged and older vegans who give up on the diet also. Some of them were vegans for decades. The depletion of the stored nutrients in your body will usually begin to downgrade your health after months or maybe years on a vegan diet. At least in most cases. Hopefully, you are an exception. I would hate to think you were forced to eat something you find so....so.....icky. But then again, I bet if you tried some meat that was prepared my a master chef, you would find a way to choke it down. Again and again and again and..........

@KruSsie-n9t3 жыл бұрын
I have been working out for a long time, I started in 2004 and I have tried all kinds of diets. I'm here now watching this vlog because I just quit doing keto diet yesterday. I've been on a keto diet for a few weeks and I noticed that I didn't lose weight at all. What really worked for me is the calorie deficit diet or fast 800 diet and that is already tried and tested by me. I noticed that on keto diet, my waistline increased. I was on OMAD with intermittent fasting, but it wasn't really effective for me which is quite disappointing. On a low-calorie diet, I could lose weight in an instant and I can easily see the improvement of my weight and waistline in just a week. But on keto diet, my abs disappeared even if I was consistently exercising every day. I just tried the keto diet because I've heard a lot of benefits about it like treating diseases, clearing up the skin, lowering blood sugar level and what I liked the most is, it would make you lose weight EASILY (that's what they claimed) and what happened to me is the opposite, I literally gained weight considering that I was on a strict keto diet with intermittent fasting. When I was on low-calorie diet, my weight was 43 kilos and then it became 49.9 kilos after 5 weeks of doing strict keto diet. I feel better when I don't eat fatty foods, I feel lighter. Adding fats on my diet really is against my will but I had to, for the sake of keto diet. Before I began doing this type of diet, my waistline was 23 inches and now it's 27 inches and this is mentally draining for me. It sucks big time! Keto Diet is not really for everyone. I also don't like the amount of restrictions on this type of diet, the keto flu, leg cramps and bad breath are outrageous! For active people like me, I really need my carbohydrates! And now that I'm back to low-calorie diet, I feel a lot better knowing that I could eat anything I want without feeling guilty. If you want to lose weight, plant-based diet is even so much better than keto diet.
@Magnulus763 жыл бұрын
@@KruSsie-n9t I didn't lose weight on a keto diet, either. I think it works for some people because some people are more physically active and it's basically a restriction diet for them that forces them to cut out alot of junk food they are used to. But that doesn't mean it's a good diet for everyone, and eating that much protein comes with some significant downsides.
@KruSsie-n9t3 жыл бұрын
@@Magnulus76 I agree with you. And this type of diet is not sustainable at all due to the extreme restrictions. If you're on a keto diet, eating a slice of cake (not the keto one) could immediately spike your blood sugar levels and could destroy your progress. Now that I'm back to calorie deficit diet and avoiding fatty foods like I used to, my abs are showing up again.

One of my kids just pointed me to someone (Ken D. Berry MD) on youtube and told me that I should watch it because I don't eat meat (never liked the taste), and trying to cut the cheese after reading tons of articles. I really hate the confusion people are getting from the medical profession, especially if they are trying to help themselves with lessening their medical problems. I am an academic and I understand that research can be done one way or the other and produce the results to fit the bias, but it is high time that hard, clinical science gives undisputed input. We are playing with people's lives by giving anecdotal evidence.

But, it's another thing to not eat cows and pigs etc because of belief while remaining blind to all the life that dies to mass plant and harvest your plants, beans, etc. Eating local, regardless of "diet", is THE most kind way to treat the environment and animals. Research, I implore you. I wish all happiness and health.

I am vegan for life and been doing vegan keto for over 8 weeks now and it is actually really healthy if you do it properly. Yes you can eat lots of greens and some fruit because you don't count any fibre in these sort of carbs. Perhaps being a woman of menopausal age the extra fat, tempeh and organic soy products really work for my body. Doing this diet means you have to cut out heavily processed foods and wheat (not wheat gluten so seitan is fine) which can only be a good thing. Basically cutting out refined sugar is much better for you. (I will admit to missing vegan doughnuts though)!

High fat plant foods. Nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut, etc. Paired with low carb vegetables like leafy greens that should put you into ketosis.
@mikapeltokorpi76715 жыл бұрын
On top of carbs you have to be very careful with Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio and getting enough vitamin, essential fatty acids. Oxylates and some other compounds inhibit protein consumption. So it is quite a hard to accomplish nutritionally healthy diet. But apparently possible. I have not tried plant based keto yet.

Important also to point out that the average person eating the standard American diet have a whole lot more nutritional deficiencies than the average person eating a vegan diet. It's not hard to get all the nutrition you need on a vegan diet. You have to pay a little more attention to B12 and calcium in particular but that's hardly a big deal. On the standard American diet you'd be likely deficient in magnesium, potassium, fiber, vitamins A, C and E.

He says that the body quickly adjusts to high complex carbs and able to maintain healthy sugar blood levels. He even says he cures close to 100% of his diabetic type 2 patients with his high carb diet regimen.

I don't think peanut or soy products are safe at the first place let alone you consume those as the major source of protein. Recently I tried eating less meat though and replaced it with high quality eggs, cheese and walnuts. I still continue eating meat since i don't believe you can have a sustainable keto diet on veggies alone.

I can confirm that. Keto with lots of animal products can / will lead to arrhythmia and further to atrial fibrillation. It will start with muscle cramps and then the destruction is on its way. When you know how reactive carbonyl compounds are then one detrimental mechanism of keto is self explanatory.
