Depends on the area you're moving to. I lived in Chinatown most of my life and had a car, but the apartment complex in which I lived offered free parking. Also, the CTA red and green lines, as well as various bus routes (1, 3, 4, 24, 29 and 62) are very much in walking distance. My car is my primary mode of transportation. I typically take the red line to go downtown and sometimes up north, but it depends on how close I'd be to a red line station.
