Just the wind and the 'feels like' temperatures.. Rest is great.

As someone who was born and raised in the south and can’t leave my house because of how hot it is for months, Chicago winter is nothing! I really enjoy it 😅

It would be very cool if you did a Pedway for dummies! It’s a bit intimidating to go down there.

One of my favorite visits was at Christmas. The temperature was in the 40's which was nice for walking around. I was out this past spring and it was warm then a few days later, snow.

During the furnace-running cold months, increasing the indoor humidity somewhat makes things more comfortable. Evaporative humidifiers are less hassle than ultrasonic humidifiers.

I concur. Spring is my least favorite, the damp cold & potential muddiness, depending on where you're walking. Yucky.🌫🌧☔️ Fall is my absolute fav, look forward to it every year & you're right, it is too short. Great video.💌

Yesss the Uniqlo winter coat is everything! I also have the Doc Marten faux fur lined Chelsea boot, which I think you recommended in another video about Chicago winter. They’ve kept me going through a few winters now!! Thank you!

I used to work in the Illinois Center and took the Red Line to and from work for well over a decade. The Red Line State/Lake stop and my office building were connected via the Pedway. Honestly, I only used the Pedway when there was very bad inclement weather, such as, a polar vortex or a blizzard. Otherwise, I walked outside. I'm stuck in an office all day. I enjoyed the walk outside in all types of weather. The Pedway had mall vibes. I liked being out amongst the people and buildings. I will say that what was convenient about the Pedway was having access to the stores and restaurants without having to put on your coat. You could quickly pop into one of the places to buy a coffee or snack without anyone knowing it. I agree with you about Spring. It's my least favorite season.. I don't mind winter because you expect and are prepared for the cold and snow in December, January, and February.. (Plus,, we've had some really mild winters these past few years.) Come mid-March, I'm over it. The rainy, dreary, damp, cool Spring days for months on end get to me. I know this is an unpopular opinion but every November I'm reminded how much I enjoy that month. It's the light. The gloomy days. There's a coziness factor that somehow matches my disposition.

I think you love the Midwest winter because you're new to it. I live in southern California, and I drive Uber on the side, and I've picked up tourists riders from anywhere where it's very cold. And they just love it out here during the winter. And riders that are transplants from the very cold. They didn't want to plow the snow anymore, wear heavy winter clothes, clear out the snow on their cars. And just able to go outside normally.

The pedway is great and a wonderful piece of infrastructure to get around. However, I only go downtown on weekends, and I find that on weekends a lot of sections of the pedway are closed, making it virtually useless. From what I understand it's only really fully open on weekdays, which means I never get to use it. It's a shame and I wish there was some sort of effort to keep it open(and safe) on weekends/later hours. Maybe reaching out to the alder would help revitalize it, it seems to have really fallen off after covid.

When it’s gets in the 60’s here people think it’s cold they will say a cold front coming on the news. We have cold days but nothing like other places but brutal hot summers where I want to go somewhere else to get away from the heat. I actually prefer cold over the heat just without the snow if I had a choice.

Well from your time here we haven’t really had much snow. This winter we’ve been getting nice 40+ days, then the next day will be cold, then the next day it’ll snow, then it’ll rain

Unpopular opinion but as a lifelong northern Illinois resident, 10 yr Chicago resident I absolutely HATE layers in the winter. But wool socks are a must. Unless you do not invest in a warm insulated coat, anytime you walk more than 10 min anywhere you will be sweating and uncomfortable. It doesn't have to $1000 but Columbia, North Face, Eddie Bauer all make great winter coats often times for less than $300, even better if it goes past your knees. This is coming from a girl who is easily cold.

I left Chicago after living a year there and went back to Northern California where I'm from. Chicago's a great city, don't get me wrong. But the winters are so awful that I just don't think it's worth it for the dinky little 3 month summers.

Completely agree. I lived in Illinois for 8 years and moved to norcal a few years ago too. My vitamin D levels went up and I'm so much happier here!
