I love the comment “this is card making, not science”. So many times I love the whimsy of polar bears with penguins, or lions and tigers together, but my head has got in the way of using the stamp or paper. So, thank you - that’s what I’ll be saying to myself from now on when my literal thinking gets in the way :-)

Love hearing your process, especially with some of the trickier papers. I seem to have that problem a lot... I buy the paper because I love the look of it, but don't plan how I can use the paper before buying it. I get it home and keep asking myself what can I do with it??? Some seem impossible to use on a card. I think sometimes Michaels' papers in particular have that issue when trying to make A2 cards but the paper is designed so that you would cut off something important. I think its because they sell pre-scored cards in another size, like 4.5 x 6.25 or something like that. Those papers probably work fine with their card bases.
@JessCrafts5 жыл бұрын
I know they sell all the paper pads in 12x12 as well so I think some papers are meant for scrapbookers but then others I'm not sure how a cardmaker or a scrapbooker would use them. Maybe they just make what looks pretty to pull us in (it works!). I'm glad you found some of my ideas helpful. Enjoy crafting with your pad!

Love, Love, Love this video, Jess. There are lots of ‘use the paper pad’ videos but this one is different. Your thoughts really added to the video. Plus the care you took in adding hand colored animals really set the cards apart. I don’t think just cutting and adhering patterned paper makes a thoughtful, handcrafted card IMO. Your touches made such a difference. TFS. You ‘sparkled’ on this one! ❄️❄️❄️

Hi Jess, love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.🤩😍💖 One question, could you like the stiches rectangle die set that you use to make these cards. And are you using a die for the solid card base too. If so what one is that one. Sorry, l am new to card making. 🤔😳😁
@JessCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, Thanks! The stitched rectangle set is the Small Stitched Rectangles from Lawn Fawn. Here's a link: ldli.co/e/jk52q1 which I've also now added to the description. Sorry I forgot it the first time. The card bases are just 8.5 by 11 pieces of cardstock cut in half and then folded in half. The panels without stitching are cut with my paper trimmer not a die. I hope that answered your question. I'm always happy to help a new crafter. I should be able to get any questions you leave in the comments but feel free to email me at hello @ jesscrafts.com

Unfortunately it's probably sold out at this point as it was seasonal. I did pick up my pad at Michael's before the winter holidays. One of the downsides of working with paper from big box stores is they are often only available for a single season and may not be in all stores.

My name is Avelina and I just started doing the craft paper and making cards. My motivation and because I am a cancer survivor was to make cards especially for women and give it to them. I am also a teacher so now I am including children at St. Jude which is an institution that we support as a family. What other places could I donate cards? Now with the pandemic is so difficult to volunteer anywhere especially when you have a health issue. Please let me know.
@JessCrafts4 жыл бұрын
You can find a lot of resources for donating cards on my blog:jesscraftsblog.blogspot.com/p/card-drive-resources.html Volunteering has always been important to me and while it is certainly more challenging to find opportunities to help from home they are out there and you can hopefully find a card drive that works for you.

I realize you posted this 4 years ago now, but it's interesting that you say you always feel the 6x6 pads are geared toward scrapbookers. I'm a scrapbooker, who always feels the 6x6 pads are geared toward cardmakers, and I get frustrated with trying to figure out how I could use them in scrapbooking. 😆 Hopefully, we're all finding ways to use them for both crafts. 🩷 I'm new to card making, and your videos have been very inspiring for me. Thank you.
