I just watched 2 of your 6x6 paper pad tuts. You have a new subscriber. I prefer the voiceover, more info is better than none and I won't watch music videos, they go fast and I can't learn anything from them. I appreciate you tackling the difficult papers and coming up with fast, good looking solutions. Using box store supplies instead of online kits only was another plus for me, tells me you are looking out for all your subscribers. I didn't know Michael's had 110 lb cardstock. I'll have to look again. Thank you, I'll be back.

Jess, thanks for walking us through your thought process when it comes to making cards with a 6x6 paper pad. It made it easy to choose how to use those pages with the larger one idea for that sheet of paper. Plus I like how you use the card layout sheets to speed up your card making procedure.

This is another pad I have as a 12x12 pad. So far, I have given out a bit over 50 cards from it. You are right, its an intimidating TON of paper! It sat in my stash for almost a year. I normally make my own backgrounds but last year I bought a bunch of 12x12 pads. Maybe 6? I am now using them up. I still have a lot of cards to make from this pad. I am not as good about using every scrap as you. I tend to cut my sheets into 6 4x5.25 pieces. I use part of the left over 1.5x12 strips, but I toss a lot of them. I appreciate how careful you are with your supplies, and I admire that. For my space, and sanity, I need to throw away my scraps most of the time. If I can't use them during a multi card project, most of them need to go.

I love, love, love seeing a designer plan out construction of cards to use one 6X6 pad. I really appreciate your sharing your sketches and ideas for donating cards. I like designs that use mats. I definitely prefer this over mainly just pasting pieces of designer paper together. I like the thought of using leftovers from one card to design the next, You have wonderful ideas both on design and best practices for card making. I like videos with music or with voice over. I think the subject and the intracacies of the patterns make the difference. If you are introducing new sketches, voice over might be best. I am subscribed to your channel and want to make a practice of watching more of your videos.

I love the fact that you take on the challenge of using those difficult pages, like the circles, and show us how to do it too. Also that you use (and make) sketches that use up all the paper. I have the 12x12 and 6x6 of this paper. I have used the cut parts on the 12x12 to just make 5x7 cards and let the paper do the work. But I love your videos that show the exact process and use the tricky papers such as the ones with circles in the center. I will definitely be trying that one. I don't, never thought about it honestly. I guess I just figured paper cutter was faster. But I suppose I could make svg files to go with my templates. But I would have to use the same template a lot to get the time return I think.

I know this is an older video but just wanted to respond to something you said about the Advent calendar square pages, or really any paper you don't like. Sometimes you can cut out the squares and use them as the bottom layer in an embellishment cluster, covering up the number but leaving the border showing. Or punch out a circle or square and use the rest as a frame over something else (buckle on Santa's belt?) And I've also used ugly pages from pads to make fun and funky painty papers, scraping on paint with an old gift card, using stencils and sprays and just layering them up to hide the pattern under, maybe just a hint of shapes and patterns showing through. Great for card backgrounds, or to frame patterned papers you like better, if you get your colour choices right.
@meredithslater3701 Жыл бұрын
SO my really late question for you is...How do you decide which papers to use together? I have so much trouble deciding!!!
@JessCrafts Жыл бұрын
Honestly if the papers are the from the same collection there is a good chance they will match. You can decide if you want a card with more contrast and choose two papers with different colors or pick two with the same overall color for a more subdued look. You might want to pair a large bold pattern with a simpler more tone on tone pattern. But I mostly rely on the knowledge that the designer intended them to compliment each other and not get too caught up.

i switched my roll on my atg and it doesn’t seem to lock so when i release the button it doesn’t lock and when i pull away it keeps pulling glue out wasting a lot of my tape. did i maybe load it incorrectly or have you ever had this issue. it was working fine. this is the first time i switch the roll.
@JessCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for leaving this feedback. I plan to address all the ATG questions/concerns in an upcoming video. That sounds very frustrating. A quick suggestion would be to make sure the tape roll is completely locked in. When you loaded the roll it had to be pushed down and fitted around two posts. It should sort of click in place.

Some feedback for you: Love the card donation ideas; I have so much patterned paper, including a LOT of 6x6 pads, and tons of cardstock, and this will inspire me to make more cards for donation. Also, I LOVE card sketches, and have been enjoying the 6x6 templates you've been sharing, and will print those out over the holidays for reference. I also have an ATG, but I struggle getting it to lay down tape as smoothly as you and others do, and it's so heavy and bulky, it hurts my hand. Is there a trick to using it so that it works as well as it does for you? Appreciate all you do, and hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!
