Hi James, greetings from NZ. Love your vids. I was in the UK (London) for two weeks for work. My work gave me an allowance to stay in a flash hotel for this time, and instead I just parked my van in the underground car park and slept there for two weeks. (Undetected) Used the on-site gym, and changed towels daily, showers, toilets, sauna etc etc etc Total cost for two weeks in the under ground car park and using the flash gym for all this time… £99. Local tesco and other shops nearby to purchase the “reduced” items. A bargain, compared to £399 a night- for every night. Hope this helps, if you want to visit a big city… 👍👍👍

@@bythecurb great idea… it does 100% work as I’ve shown. However, and as you probably know, you have to pick the right one. As I found out, it’s better to pay for a hotel “park and stay” package and then you get to use all the facilities- if you maintain a “low profile”. Another great place are big airport hotels. They all do park and stay packages. Usually it’s- park up for 14 nights, and they give you a night in the hotel for one of the nights (night 1 or night 14). I did this at a multi story hotel car park and complex in OZ and save thousands of $$$. So long as you keep a low profile you’ll be all ok, and you can use the bar etc etc. Enjoy 👍👍👍 (avoid the inner city shopping centre car parks- as they fill up with drunks and weirdos at night)

I can't stop thinking about the lady living in the small car with her dog you mentioned, I don't know the circumstances that led to her living as such, but they can't be good. I truly hope that things pick up for her going forward, especially before winter arrives. On a lighter note, when you and Helen were having your meal, before you mentioned the Haloumi Fries, I honestly thought you'd ordered a couple of random fish fingers! I am from Doncaster, but live here in Durham; I have been here in excess of 16 years and I regard it as the best thing I have ever done, both me and the wife, Lorraine, Love it! Hi James - and Helen…Great channel - some lovely scenic locations. Great banter from you both, heartfelt honesty and reality with a very healthy dash of good humour. It’s good to see so many interesting characterful pubs too . I noted your comments about the unreliability of typical weather forecasts… You might already have it, but could I suggest Wundermap? It’s not a forecast as such but it shows the weather how it is now - rainfall radar, temperature and wind direction being the main layers you can turn on and off… You can look at where the rain was a couple of hours ago and play forward to see which way it’s going, how patchy it looks etc - helping you to predict things - like when you got back to the van and it stopped raining. You’ve probably sold it several times over by now, but if not, how much were you asking for that Jacobean set of drawers? Very much looking forward to your next video. Cheers!

Nice to hear a bit of discussion about the ale too. I like a good pint myself 🍺 As to other places you good go for your next trip, not too far from Barnsley. Have you been up the North Pennines AONB? I.e. west County Durham, south west corner of Northumberland eg Weardale, Nenthead, Alston, Allenheads, Allendale, Hexham type area. You could maybe take in a bit of Hadrian’s Wall. Open countryside, varied scenery - some nice hills for Helen to race up, some nice pubs. You would really need to a couple of trips, but places like Low Force and High Force waterfalls in Teesdale, Middleham, and Barnard Castle would also make a great vlog trip. Hope you have a great excursion 👍

@@bythecurb PS just realised Wundermap will probably be listed as Wunderground (weather underground) if you look for the app. Forgot to mention that the map is also zoomable, you can look at other parts of the world, you can put on a layer of weather fronts too so you can see where the next wet stuff is likely to be coming from… and maybe the main thing about it id that it takes data from lots of private weather stations (so you can see variations even at a local level if you zoom in)… I now tend to use it and make my own assessment rather than use any forecasting app. Cheers.

The BBC dropped the Met Office for weather forecasting; they now have paid agents in various points in the UK fully trained with the latest techniques of weather checking; they place the forefinger into a cup of water and stick it in the air. They text the results to Alan Titchmarch, who collates all the findings and sends them to BBC Weathermen... There is only one part of this comment that is real???

My wife has also given up on the BBC weather app, one morning it said dry all day but looking out the window it was stair rods. To be fair though, Britain has a series of micro climates, so dry as a bone but 3 or so miles up the road torrential rain and then a few miles later dry and sunny. I have seen an actual line on the road where on on one side it was dry but on the other side there was flooding. Getting rid of your stock is heart breaking, especially your daughters cuddly toys, hopefully she will want them but it is a closing chapter. What a sweet talker. Helen is lovely and sensible.

2.26. We camped along that road on the way back from the Outer Hebrides. There were 35 vans spread out along the road. It appears to an acceptable place the park up. Great looking breakfast.

Stayed in Edale a few weeks back - walked up to Mam Tor from Edale for sunris, then across to Lose Hill, and back down again. Headed into Castleton for breakfast, and nowhere did breakfast until 9:30. The Nag's Head were rather rude to us in relaying this to us - for them it was only residents before 9:30, despite no-one being around and them just turning away money. Headed across to Hope, and Hope Tearooms were more than happy to take provide breakfast before we headed up towards Kinder...

Great spot up there ,I park up regularly on mam Tor road in motorhome , sometimes find the odd flat spot 😅 and a nice little walk in many pubs in the village , there's a great parking spot at Holmsfield farm in the village too , well done James 👍

I don't know anything about antiques, but I do know that stuff, in general, is not shifting. We are in hard times, and I feel they will only worsen, the devasting cost of inflation is really hitting home now, and I don't see it getting any better, and as a consequence, people have a very tight hold on their purse strings, and who can blame them. I know so many people like yourself dealing in similar items that have hit extremely hard times, all the very best in your future endeavors, your videos are very enjoyable, when I get time to view them.

Helen wants to do Tryfan? Do your homework on this mountain, it cannot be reached without scrambling from any side. The popular North side accent has some very exposed scrambling. The south side is easier. Paths are unclear in lots of places, if the clag comes down it can become extremely dangerous. This mountain accounts for a 3rd of all Ogwen valley mountain rescue callouts! Consider a guide if you have any doubts.

I think they stick there head out the window and change it as they go along! Its the same with Swedish weather apps. And everyone has the best app somehow. I never look what they predict i look at the sky. To many times to get let down. It gone so far that i dont want to hear it from people anymore. I can get four different weather prediction in one day from different people. You are right they are just guessing
