24 Hours in Yogyakarta Indonesia (first Impressions)

After spending two weeks in Jakarta Indonesia, we took a luxury sleeper bus to spend 24 hours in Yogyakarta. We started the morning early by visiting the legendary Mbah Santinem to taste her Netflix featured Jajan Pasar! We then traveled north into the mountains to take a jeep tour of the most active volcano in Indonesia, Mount Merapi.

Oh Yogyakarta. My favorite city to chill out ever since my junior high school. The place where my two best friends lived until their passing. Miss them so much. I still visit Yogyakarta from time to time, just to stroll around Malioboro, watching people, listening to Bamboo music, to eat my fav street food, in the morning and evening. I was in Yogya when Mt Merapi erupted. I remember it was at 9 PM i drove my motorbike going to my boarding house. And i felt my eyes felt pain like some tiny debris struck to my eyes. After arrived at my room then i knew Merapi was erupted. I was going bed straight away, woke up in the morning and felt like fogy day when i came out everything is white covered by sand. My first experience with volcano eruption. Hope the last.

It's very unique undescribable special vibe I only get in Yogya 😄😄 Love this city lol I still remember visiting this museum in 2013 and what I saw was shocking 😳 When you get a chance to visit Yogya again, I suggest explore different parts of the city such as Borobudur, Prambanan and Keraton etc.. Wow, it's wonderful journey! Maybe on your next adventure in Jogja, you can try visiting the Mangunan Fruit Garden or Pindul Cave to see the incredible sceneries, Parangtritis Beach for the best sunset spot, Sadranan Beach for the best diving spot, and of course Prambanan or Borobudur Temple for the relic of human civilization. Keep exploring, man!

The train from Jakarta to Yogya is a better option. Same price but only 7.5 hours. Take the day train and see amazing scenery. Lots to see and do in Yogya, you could easily spend 10 days there. Unfortunately now is not the time to travel in Java or Bali.

Actually there are many places that you much visit when you are in Yogyakarta : 1. Prambanan Temple 2. Taman Sari Water Castell 3. Keraton Yogyakarta 4. Parangtritis Beach 5. For the night street food you can go to Alun-Alun Kidul or Malioboro Street (but expensive) 👍 And don't forget to eat the traditional food "Gudeg". And you must try "wedang ronde". In jogja you guys can have a breakfast with soto pak dalbe in sudirman street near gramedia or nasi brongkos (the name is warung brongkos handayani), Playing a sandboard in gumuk pasir parangkusumo also take a picture in landasan pacu because both of them are really close. Then you can watching a beautifull view of that city from bukit bintang on the night with enjoying some roasted corn with a cup of coffee. I'm a local person from jogja and thank you for visiting. Jogja is magnificent! We call it jogja itu istimewa 👍

Here's a suggestionfor restaurant: Bale Raos. It's an old restaurant in keraton area. Cook dishes that were used to be the previous Sultan's food. It was really interesting and different from normal street food. Experience the luxury, bro!

You walked on the small alley but surprisingly arrived on the huge fancy hotel. Enjoy the uniqeness, scenery and hospitality of Javanese peoples. There are also some beautiful beaches with white sand such as Pantai Kukup, Drini, etc and cave in the Gunung Kidul area (2 hours by motorcycle) .

Finally! A foreign channel has reviewed the bus services here in Indonesia! I hope you enjoyed that Sinar Jaya Sleeper Suite bus, Alex! Yes here in Indonesia long bus routes usually has at least one meal service included in the price of the ticket, so don't miss it! 😂 There are some more Indonesian bus companies that offers sleeper class, for example Rosalia Indah and Harapan Jaya, I recommend to try them too! I just from yogyakarta at may, I reccomend you to go to Nglambor beach, you can snorkeling and eat fish at there. And dont forget to going to Prambanan temple or Borobudur temple and Tebing Breksi that's amazing place.
