Before the world knew Israel Adesanya as the MMA fighter, he was a rising kickboxer that few people knew of internationally. But in the striking world, people definitely knew who he was. He was supremely talented and known for beatings 9 men in 3 nights. In a total of 24 men bracket over 3 tournaments, he beat them all, and in a spectacular fashion. See it for yourself. @@andrewgiegerich523 That would be really good to see! But as long as top rated boxers get paid more than any other top rated combat athletes than I don't think there is a good likelihood of seeing that. Golden age boxers (like Jack Dempsey) cross-trained with wrestling to help improve their overall physical condition and to help with inside fighting. Today, not too many boxers follow that tradition, but some still do--Lomachenko comes to mind in terms of being familiar with wrestling and grappling. I would like to see a top rated boxer-puncher like a Joe Louis, dabble in MMA.

For me the biggest game-changer is the internet. When I was a kid, the most I could hope for was reading about a big fight in the newspapers or watching on the evening news. These days you've got an event every weekend and have a chance to step into the fighters' lives and training camps through youtube and such. It's really unprecedented. PS. Speaking of which, the UFC have been on fire this summer. Fights every weeked and every single card has had at least a couple of interesting bouts. I feel spoiled!

Andrew Chilvers So Costa is the best fighter in the division because Izzy beat Rob? I’m guessing Costa is all of a sudden your favorite fighter now and your “hype job” ending hope. Alex was also knocked out by a kick boxer a weight class below him. Would you say that 2 and half years later, Alex isn’t better then the guy that knocked him out after learning and growing? By your logic, Alex isn’t better then Artur. Lastly, go tell 5 people that cares.

You🤡newbs know NOTHING about boxing/striking/fighting You have no idea what you're taking about You dont have a pass from me to ever talk about striking Its the Eugene school of "feint just to fient with no purpose, do nothing, & if they do nothing back, kick the legs for points" AWFUL style & Izzy is the full embodiment of it Adesanya=1 of the worst strikers He fients just to fient(no rhyme purpose or reason) I always say, establish threats off your feint Get into position with rhythm/leans,&shoot off your fienting(suprise/establish threat) Where was Izzy's "fight IQ" against Romero Didnt know how to gain respect, establish a threat & feint with that threat to open up/or get reactions without feinting Low IQ All he can do is counter karate fighters who lunge in like Whittaker Costa is more skilled & cleaner, I can help Costa win the rematch. I did a ton of breakdowns on it. There are unranked bantamweights who are far far more skilled then the likes of Izzy. My breakdowns are the best on the internet. Nobody is on my level, nobody!
