1. ATG split squats 2. Vertical Row 3. Slant squats 4. Pull up, neutral grip 5. Shoulder press 6. nordic curl 7. Back extension 8. romanian deadlift for hamstring stretch 9. Stretch stretch stretch.... 10. tibialis raise& calf raise 11. Leg raise/ hip raise for hip flexor I love ur stuff ben, but these exercises took a billion years to complete and are completely fatiguing to do for nervous system. Some stuff are really difficult to get the tools to do the exercise. But i still pick some stuff and try to do some of them.

You don’t have to do all of these in 1 training session, just an example of how I train. These are all the tools I use and you can spread it out throughout the week. Can also checkout the Structural Balance Program my training partner Fernando Lopez has on the ATG app which spreads many of these movements out throughout the week. I'm glad I'm not the only one, if he could modify them for an at home approach with no equipment and spread throughout the week instead of hitting all of these in one go that would be great. I myself have leg/hip/back injuries and found this channel inspiring. I just don't have the tools (or space!) to do quite a few of these exercises.

@@tehfryguy - Same thing with me Fryguy, so many exercises to do and it can get overwhelming trying to follow on YT. I recommend buying Ben's book "Knee Ability Zero" it starts with a simple program and Ben lays it out in a recap of Steps at the end of the book. It was very difficult for me a first, I couldn't even do 1 split squat w/o pain. 6 months later now and up to about 25 per leg 2 times a week ...Don't give up it's a long slow, sometimes painful journey but well worth it. ...

I've been following you for several years and am consistently impressed by your honesty and sharing. I used your program as a prehab and rehab before and after TKR (injury that made the TKR necessary). As I was watching this, I thought, what a shame your program wasn't in schools and what great benefits this would give our children. Then you announce your plans for a school that incorporates your training. What a concept, teach our children how to live healthy lives as well as add and subtract. The stats I've seen say around 700,000 kids are injured every year in PE, intramural or varsity sports. The most common injuries are ligament strains, sprains, and stress fractures. I'm in my 70's and still have issues due to separated shoulders from high school football injuries. IMHO your programs would help eliminate or reduce this. Good job Ben!

It seems so dynamic Ben. A responsible blend of the traditional progression chart with a real focus on form and technique. I wonder if we got the progression chart wrong. I wonder if it should have been full range of motion and form together. As you just said "through a full range of motion you are comfortable with without hurting". I think there is something magical about a full range of motion on a particular exercise. Love your work Ben.

Good Stuff! Your content/data haha just started coming through my feed… I’m battling everything! Tore my Achilles at 38 playing BBall. Recovering is a long process. Right shoulder issues.. Your methods have given me more tools to work on and flex. I wish I had known what I know now when I was younger. Back then it was all about strength training and lacked the flexing and full range of motion training… I love running backwards up hills… I play over 30 baseball and can’t fix the shoulder pain I have from throwing the baseball. I believe it’s impingement. Think the remedy is strengthening the lat and improving shoulder range of motion. And I could never touch the rim playing ball. I’m going to work your regimen to increase my speed and jumping. I’ll keep you posted… From the MA NH area.. Thanks!

Love your content! Definitely has been a game changer for what I thought would be an eventual knee surgery. Do you have any recommendations for how a martial artist should train your exercises? By that, I'm specifically meaning that I think it was years of kicking that messed my knees up in the first place. Is there a way to strengthen the ligaments to resist that kind of snap/shock?

From watching your videos this last few months since I discovered you, I have not seen a lot of commentary on exercises that aren't flexion/extension based. One that comes to mind is the quadratus lumborum work you do, but other than that I am curious if you incorporate anything in the transverse and frontal planes? Do you do anything like hip and shoulder adductor and abductor work, like shoulder external rotations? If not, why and do you worry about weaknesses/imbalances long-term? Love your channel and philosophy by the way! I'm learning a lot from you as a future physical therapist assistant.
@TheKneesovertoesguy
@TheKneesovertoesguy 9 күн бұрын
Really appreciate the comment and question! Yes, we do address extension and flexion, but there are other movements across our programs that train rotational strength. Think of QL Raise like you mentioned, but also incline pigeon pose or internal hip rotation for the hip, and Copenhagen Planks for the groin/adductors, and Seated Good Mornings for hip rotation/adductors. These are great options as well and have a video here that covers a handful of those: How to Unlock Lateral Mobility and Explosiveness kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5SUp2afqtSZi8k When it comes to the shoulders, external rotations work great which are in our protocols, but here can be another source for you covering lateral shoulder mobility: Lateral Shoulder Mobility kzbin.info/www/bejne/eojLeYKImNZ-a5I Hopefully this helps, and you can learn more about these programs on our coaching app: atgonlinecoaching.com 🫡

Great video! What is your opinion on strongmen that are so tight they can’t touch their toes. If you were coaching them would you recommend strength through length for worlds strongest man?
@TheKneesovertoesguy

Good question! Definitely couldn’t hurt! The stronger you are through a greater range of motion, naturally the more potential you have here. You can have both! Dmitry Klokov is an inspiration for this. Checkout this article: kneesovertoesguy.medium.com/strength-or-flexibility-f42fbe003262

what do you think of applying HIT and SuperSlow principles to atg workouts? ie slow reps, ~8 reps, true failure, 1 or 2 sets, low volume for every exercise. I ask because you usually advocate high and explosive reps, which might reflect the way sports are played but I'm unsure if it's optimal for phyisiologic adaptations.
@TheKneesovertoesguy

There are definitely benefits to all types of rep ranges. I think it’s awesome if you can apply this in a way you like and works for you! There isn’t a right or wrong approach🫡🙏

Totally understand! Depending on how frequently you run, the intensity and volume you use could vary. We have an ATG For Distance Runners program. 3x strength sessions and 2x mobility sessions. Very similar strength sessions to this here! You can feel it out and see how that goes and we have online coaching which could help guide you through this process. @@TheKneesovertoesguy I was watching Shoalin Shi Heng Yi and his philosophy is very much similiar to yours. One of his profound statements: the first thing you normally learn in the martial arts is standing. The proper way of aligning your body on the earth, because we say if you can not stand firmly no matter what type of techniques and applications you are trying they can only be as good as your foundation is. This foundation is stability of the body and stability of the legs thus translating it into a better way of living a modern way of life. I have a question, I do a lower body upper body split where for lower body I prioritize increasing my vertical. What I was thinking about doing is on rest days doing some of the mobility exercises from this video and from other videos but I'm already greatly fatiguing my muscles and nervous system on lower body days, do you think with decent progression that would work and not be too much volume?

2:08 - is that butt wink? My back hurts from ATG Squats and my toes hurt from ATG Split Squats :D
@TheKneesovertoesguy
@TheKneesovertoesguy 9 күн бұрын
Butt wink would have more rounding of the lower back, to address your back hurting when squatting, I would definitely checkout this video covering everything I know about the lower back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naW7k2Wrpcmgaassi=1ncKAewvkZeHt1VP Movements like the seated good morning can be critical here and make sure you have a strong brace when squatting. Also to address the foot pain with split squats, you can try elevating your front foot, which will take pressure off your toes of the back foot. I would also watch this video covering a ground up approach: ATG Foot, Ankle, Achilles & Shin Guide kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWO1i56crJuMZ8k Always hope here!
