just saw JORMA in Ridgefield ... senior citizen early show ... 4 pm today

Senior citizens sounds weird cause I don't feel like what I thought a 'senior citizen' would feel like. Still got a doobie in the left hand and a good amount of decent acid in the fridge😂

Fifty years ago tonight my FIRST Grateful Dead show (St Louis). A few months earlier in the same venue saw Jack and Jorma with the Airplane! Such an exciting time in the American music scene.

Similar anniversaries here as well Jim. 10/30-31/70 GD at SUNY SB, and tomorrow 11/23/70, acoustic and electric Hot Tuna. Then the sendoff for Thanksgiving break the following night: Traffic, with Cat Stevens (on his first ever tour) opening. Yes indeed. A tremendously exciting time for American music. Fwiw, I'm seeing another age of it right now with the Infamous Stringdusters, Billy Strings, Hawktail, Rawlings/Welch, et al. The best is yet to come.

I saw Carlos Montoya perform when he was 78 and was amazed that a man could do that. These gentlemen are in the same rarified air as a master player of his status !

So did I but I don't know his age at the time but probably roughly the same. It was where I went to junior college at El Camino in Torrance, Ca (L.A Co.), yet regretabily I can't remember if it was when I was a Chemistry student there, it might have been before or not very long after? In any case, he was amazing, (I used to try to study Flaminco, etc. myself). So I totally agree! I do however, remember the first time I saw Hot Tuna, the year I graduated from high school, 1977 at the Whisky A-Go Go in Hollywood. Luckily, several additional times + The Airplane 3 times on thier reunion Hollywood Greek, Berkeley Greek, and the free Bill Graham Memorial in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco! Hate to brag but despite some enormous bad luck, when it comes to concerts, I'm an extremely lucky guy! Augy, San Diego

@@rayaugustine6908 Thanks for the lengthy reply ! I used to hail from Humboldt County until 11 yrs ago, when I returned to my native State of Connecticut. Now I consider myself a “ Connectifornian” after 30+ years out there. Hot Tuna even made it up there in the late 80s at what they called the “Electric On The Eel” concert - a beautiful venue in the redwoods known for the famous “Reggae On The River” festival. We used to get a surprising number of top acts up there, being halfway between SF and Eugene or Portland, where they could make a little cash and break up the long trip. Happy music listening , and stay healthy. - Tom

Ditto! I saw Segovia when he was 84 and it was beautiful and his presence and musical ability were still very intact. IT was one of my most memorable concerts.

The best ( only good thing) about the pandemic is that I am able to enjoy your quarantine concerts most Saturdays. I have been a huge fan since I saw you guys at The Academy of Music in NYC ( early & late shows ) in 1973. It's not only the music , it's as if I get to hang out with my favorite musicians. Great to have Jack return, especially with that state of the art bass! Always looking forward to your next show, you guys are great and it's obvious how much you love playing music. Hall of Famers if there ever was one!

At 1:31:19 and that general area, what kind of guitar is he playing? If anyone knows, leave a comment. I read that he and Martin collaborated on a custom guitar bearing Jorma's name, not sure if available to the public. This guitar looks like a J-50 but it doesn't sound like one, much more robust. Sounds just like what the specs said online that he wanted the sound of 2 Martin guitars rolled into one with maybe some specialty woods, like the more expensive Rosewood mixed in with maybe some other exotic woods that give this guitar its' rich, great sound.

Is Hit Single #1 a song that can be played on an acoustic guitar? Probably not, or if it was it wouldn't sound any good. I have your DVD - Hot Tuna Electric Celestial Blues Live at The Fillmore in Frisco from your December7,1994 show. Break it out to listen to Ode for Billy Dean, Candy Man, Ice Age, I See The Light, 99 Year Blues,Water Song etc... How about an electric quarantine show??

I was lucky enough to see Jorma in Ridgefield CT last Saturday night and it was 47 degrees according to weather.com. I don’t know how he was able to move his fingers. That’s why I’m just catching up to this show. I keep getting interrupted by Medicare Advantage ads. Does You Tube have Jorma and Jack fans pegged as old???
