my old dodge had a similar mod. it was a gasser and when you got water in the intake it ran on 2 cylinders. hehehe. cool video man.

Lol I think my brother had the same three cylinder idle on his 318

Thanks for posting this and explaining the process! It was just by chance that I found this on here. Can't wait to do this on my truck.

Hey thanks for the comment, sorry for the late response. It's a real easy and useful mod.

Wonder if I can put a high idle on my tdi it somewhat high idles but not nearly as much rpm as that. I did just recently install a coolant heater I have it plunged in now I'll see how it works tomorrow

What kind of switches are these. Are they a 3 position switch

Why would you want three cylinders instead of six
@alexphillips43259 жыл бұрын
It simulates a load on the engine and heats the coolant quicker
@wecatchfish95317 жыл бұрын
Rocket Haze or you could just high idle with all six cylinders.

Ask Chevy about the Hemi V8. It shuts half of the cylinders down when cruising.

Good question i wonder myself

Michael David ask Chevy about the hemi? Does anyone see anything wrong with this sentence?

Yea the truck can't do what IT wants to do, you do what YOU want the truck to do! That's how it should be lol

Where’s the wiring diagram for this?
@bfgman4229 жыл бұрын
im no diesel expert but doesn't it cause carbon build up when there are cylinders that aren't firing?
@BakuganBrawler2119 жыл бұрын
No it shouldn't they don't get fuel so they don't get exhaust gas so nope perfectly normal

How did you wire all this?

I have the wiring diagram for this, and I plan on doing a video from start to finish on how to do this.

Plug the truck in at night then drive it down the street that's how you get your heat
@martingray74397 жыл бұрын
Truck still needs to get to operating temp before being driven.
@CamaroZone38009 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what's the purpose of this explain plz
@TheViewTubeOfficial9 жыл бұрын
JKJeepJunkie These trucks take quite a while to warm up. Running on high idle and/or 3 cylinders will make it warm up to operating temperature quicker. And telling the ECM that the intake air temperature is 143 degrees causes the computer to advance timing which increases fuel efficiency.
@HelloKittyFanMan.8 жыл бұрын
+swtjames23 Why would running on less cylinders supposedly "make the engine warm up [more quickly]" than running on all 6 would?
@TheViewTubeOfficial8 жыл бұрын
+MaxxFordham Running on three cylinders puts more load on the engine. Those 3 cylinders are doing the work of 6, turning the same crankshaft, alternator, water pump, powersteering pump, etc. without the help of their other 3 friends. More load creates more heat, make sense?
@HelloKittyFanMan.8 жыл бұрын
Hmm, interesting. I was thinking that you'd get more heat from more cylinders being heated up from their combustion at the same time.
@wecatchfish95317 жыл бұрын
swtjames23 this cannot be good on the truck. Starving cylinders of fuel? There's no reason not to just have it high idle all 6. Lucky for me my dodge is new enough it came from the factory with high idle. 😁
@TheViewTubeOfficial11 жыл бұрын
Google "moparman1973" he has a how to on his website. Same one I used to build this setup.

+swtjames23 hey man, my buddy has a 96 5 9 could he put high idle on his truck? we live in PA and he leaves his rig out all the time so he does have to go threw the waiting time to start and get her warm.
@TheViewTubeOfficial9 жыл бұрын
+Jake Mele Yea it definitely can be done. Check out Cumminsforum.com, you'll find all the info you need.

Guys, There isnt gonna be carbon build up on the other 3 cylinders if the injectors aren't injecting on those cylinders.
@duttydiesel83034 жыл бұрын
Carbon from what if there's no fuel being put in? Lol It's fine, I believe they remove it because if emissions
@rc-daily4 жыл бұрын
It also doesn't run on the same 3 cylinders. It still uses all 6 cylinders.
@duttydiesel83034 жыл бұрын
@@rc-daily To the best of my knowledge it only uses 3.... Carbon builds between 190 & 290.... So if your not using 3 cylinders... It's not going to be hot enough to build...
@duttydiesel83034 жыл бұрын
@@rc-daily - It wouldn't be a balanced engine if you were bouncing between cylinders.
@rc-daily4 жыл бұрын
@@duttydiesel8303 I'm not exactly how it works but a few years ago I read that it alternates between the cylinders so that all 6 are used. Maybe it uses say 1, 3, 5 then switches over to 2, 4, 6.

Yes it does, it idles at about 1200 rpm
@Texasbroski5126 жыл бұрын
6 and 3 cyl wtf
@duttydiesel83034 жыл бұрын
Yes fuel to all six cylinders, or just to three. Since it's an inline engine it's got balance running 3 of 6. The point is 3 cyl you want to warm it up real quick. 6 cyl is more of a maintenance position although it will warm ya up, just not as quick. The reason it creates more heat is because it's burning more fuel in those three cylinders to maintain the 1200 rpm. Basically creates fake load to the engine.
@duttydiesel83034 жыл бұрын
Kinda sounds like a little 3 cylinder perkins or kabota lol
