I used to load Sierra 60 grain hollowpoint for varmint hunting and 100 grain hornady for deer hunting. After a couple hunting seasons, I abandoned the .243 in favor of 7mm rem. Mag. With 140 grain psp for deer. I like your videos a lot. Very good content, and information with no nonsense.

Great video! Love the 243! I haven't bought into this ballistic tip marketing stuff for 243 bullets. I have never shot any of the tipped bullets in my 243, So I can't say for sure on them. My Marlin X7 243 loves the 85gr Sierra pro Hunter HPBT. It almost looks like a match bullet. 40gr of IMR 4350 2.260 COL. Straight out of the box. Checked the torque on the action screws and cleaned the barrel. Very first load I ever shot out of this gun. .375" 3 shot cloverleafs at 100 yards! The most accurate centerfire gun I own. The Speer 85gr BTSP has had similar results in my X7. Your mileage may vary.

Good Stuff,Strohmeyer! The hunting camps on the king ranch in Texas use these bullets in .30 cal on whitetail and Nilgai and they swear by them! 6mm Rocks!

1st rockchuck: "uh-oh, here comes Strohmeyer in his truck" 2nd rockchuck: "I hope he ran out of those yellow tip gamechangers". 1st rockchuck: "me too. They were nasty. Hey, have you seen cousin Frank lately?" 2nd rockchuck: "There's part of him over there and....over there. He's around." 😊 Thanks, Dave!

I still use the Sierra 85 grain Game King HPBT. It works for everything that I hunt with a .243.

Thanks for your input here. The 85's shoot accurately in my three 243's as well.

Well, your 243, although many consider 90 grainers "too much", has a rock chuck/prairie dog load that can double as a deer/antelope load. Nice shooting. All these videos are definitely making me want to get my reloading gear out of the mothballs.
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80097 ай бұрын
The 90 grainers are good for small to medium thin skinned critters and can be loaded to 150 fps faster velocity. Thanks for watching.

Always like yoir videos, Dave 👍 Looks like you should buy and load lots of the Yellow tipped. Near impossivle to beat that group.

Those pulled bullets looked like they might have had some kind of crimp applied they shot good nonetheless. I thought I had some tipped 6mm Varmintking projectiles but they are 6.5 I have some loaded but haven't shot them yet out of my Creedmoor.

Hey Dave! I bought a 243 for my daughter for deer hunting. I am researching bullets for reloading for it, have you used the 90gr sierra tipped game kings for deer with the 243? I haven’t ever used a tipped bullet for deer, usually just a soft point in my 30-06 and have never had to track a deer they always drop right where they are standing. Wondering if these sierras would be a good option for the 243?
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80094 ай бұрын
No I have not as of yet used the 90 grains bullets on deer. I have used the 95gn. Hornady SST and the 95gn. Nosler BT. Best wishes for your daughters deer season.

Those pulled bullets look a different shape than the 90 gamekings u buy for reloading. Those look like they’d have a lower bc and be less jump sensitive. Makes me think Sierra makes bullets for factory loads a little different than they make for handloaders.
@sethboyce98327 ай бұрын
Just by eyeball those pulls look more like they’d be in the .380 - .400 bc range. Not the .490 that Sierra advertises
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80097 ай бұрын
The green "tipped game kings" are identical to the others in terms of ogive, width and length. BC is not measurable by me, I have to take the word of the manufacturer for that.
