How is grounding and bonding managed by the inverter. Does the inverter automatically switch from chassis-ground to shore ground. Also, it would be interesting to see the AC part, as well as an optional Dc-Dc 12-24 boost charger from the alternator Great to see a more affordable system compared to a Victron system

Do I need all the batteries used in this set up to run my 12v or 24v air conditioner? My needs are less than this bus but knowing how much battery capacity I need is the hardest part of all this build. Love your step by step instructions and it makes me believe I can manage this with the help of friends to do this. Cost of builds of electrical systems are going up as high and as fast as buying the van. Looking to purchase the Velit 12v a/c unit that requires 600-670w ( eco mode-250-300w, turbo mode 400-650w), what battery capacity would I need to run this unit as needed. Thank you in advance for any information/expertise you can share.

Brad how many panels for this system and what was the VOC/amps/watts of these panels? Max PV wattage for that inverter is 1400watts which is my goal. I am guessing you had to wire the panels in series/parallel?

By my multiple comments you can probably see electrical systems are out of my depth of knowledge but I would love to set up a 24 v system like in your video. With that being said is there a way I could book time with you for a consultation via zoom since traveling from SW Florida to California would be difficult without my van set to go? In my previous micro van conversion I used a power station and was very happy with that but I just bought a bigger van and I want to add a 12 v air conditioning unit that can’t be supported with my power station. All the moving parts shown has me a little hesitant to start buying pieces and assembling the system. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

@@nomadbrad503 I have a '02 Sprinter so we'll be charging the batteries with the alternator. We might be adding a second alternator to the engine. What are your thoughts on that? @nomadbrad503Ай бұрын
@@tallyman15 there is no reason to buy this inverter charger if you’re going to use an alternator as your charging source. Just buy a stand alone inverter. Alternator charging is limited. The largest alternator charger Victron makes is 50 amps which will produce about 600 watts per hour. You have to do a lot of driving to charge a large battery bank.

You should never use solid wire in any moving vehicle. It doesn't allow the movement of the wire. Stranded is the best way to go in a vehicle.
@nomadbrad5033 ай бұрын
That was my belief….but explain why every rv and travel trailer uses solid core wire for their 120v circuits. And these vehicles are all certified for electrical safety by RVIA? This is the reason I allow solid core wire on 120v circuits. Everything else is stranded
