Oh no doubt, if you live outside of Lisboa it way cheaper. If you subtract the cost of rental property and just look at the rest of the costs, Portugal is very reasonable. The government is doing what it can to mitigate the high costs of renting, because a lot of the locals are being forced out of their homes because of investors buying up properties and raising the rents, Air B&B is also another issue. I can ensure you that quality of life in Czech Republic or Poland is much higher than in Netherlands or Germany, so such a rankings are simply not credible, since they completely dont know central Europe. For example they are saying that some Europeans countries are tech hub, which in many cases is not true, but they didn't mentioned that for example Warsaw or Wrocław are a hudge tech hubs with hundreds of thousands software developer much better paid and better as a developera as well (polish developers are in world top 3 in most rankings). So don't Believe this, western Europe is declining, mainly because they allow unlimited migration from thrid world countries, which is not happening in Poland or Czechia. Hey Mike, I appreciate your input, but I’d like to clarify a few things. While I acknowledge the EIU rankings, they don't specifically cater to expats. My ranking is based on personal experiences and preferences. A different perspective doesn’t invalidate a review; it simply offers another viewpoint. Vienna may be highly rated, but I wouldn't recommend it as a place to live for several reasons: a challenging housing market, long, cold winters, reserved locals making it tough for expats to integrate, occasional unfriendliness in service industries, and a somewhat old-fashioned vibe. Everyone's income and personal situation are different, so costs can feel higher or lower depending on individual circumstances. For example, in a place like Monaco, you can enjoy an outstanding quality of living, but it comes with monthly costs around $8k. The video was more about finding a fair balance between quality of life and costs, with a focus on the former. It wasn’t meant to highlight the most affordable cities to live in. However stay tuned! I'll be making separate videos on the most affordable cities soon, so keep an eye out for those!
@amirhosseinhosseinzadeh76274 ай бұрын
@geoinsider You need to make a video that takes into account local salaries! Sure, Sofia or Bucharest are affordable compared to Oslo or Stockholm, but have you tried living there on a local salary? That's the real test!

Bro I’m from Porto and let me tell you, it is definitely not a low cost city. Depending on the house or apartment (normally a simple t1 without paint in the fucking walls) it usually costs 500 for a citizen, 1000 for migrants or 4000 for citizens and tourists. Also be careful with what you say in the streets, Porto is becoming the most violent city in Portugal.

Thanks for adding to the subject of where to live in Europe as my girlfriend and I are looking for something more longterm, and I always study and watch these kinds of videos to the end! I've already lived in Denmark, Germany, and Poland for a number of years, so I mostly already know the drill of living in Europe, and language is not a big problem for me as I'm a language enthusiast and polyglot. As for "mistakes" that other people have mentioned, they're inevitable, but I didn't think there were all that many in your video. You probably noticed yourself that you had footage from Ukraine when talking about Sofia, Bulgaria (as evidenced by the Ukrainian flag!). Also, I found your pronunciation of "Florence" a little odd, as though you might have never had an Auntie Florence or heard of old-time actress Florence Henderson! And don't tell Polish people that Poland is "Eastern" Europe! That's Russia, and the Poles are not all too fond of the Russians! And for a city that was "left off", how about Istanbul? Our absolute favorite city so far, and on our short list of European cities to live in! 🙂 (And btw, the way you said Krakow is perfectly fine in English, but natively it's just a little different! 🙂)

I am curious what Information you have used for this list. Though I agree that Copenhagen is a very expensive city, it is in the exact same range as most of the top cities on the list. Using the bureaucracy as an argument is surprising - especially putting it lover on the list than an Italian city. Denmark is one, if not the most, digitalized country in Europe, it can for a lot be difficult to grasp at first, there are systems in place to help internationals and once you understand it, it becomes easy. Making friends with the locals can be difficult - but its the same, if not worse for Stockholm and Amsterdam, but especially Copenhagen is such an international city now that there's is always possibily of finding friends. The work/life balance in Denmark is one of the best in Europe. Most international people who have lived around European cities including Amsterdam and Stockholm (which usually is comparable) makes Denmark and Copenhagen their final destination.

Talking about linguistic barriers is so stupid. If you move to another country you should learn local language. English is not the official language worldwide

@@narashivaya Learning a new language is definitely important, but it’s not always that simple. Not everyone has the time, resources, or desire to become proficient in a new language, especially for relatively short stays I’ve already learned Spanish, Italian, and Hungarian, and while living in Vienna for a year, I decided not to learn German because it didn’t fit into my situation It’s essential to recognize that everyone’s circumstances are different, and we should respect their choices
