"American Cheese product" is great for melting and what not. Not particularly good but great for nachos. Actual cheese made in America can be very good, comparable to similar cheeses made in Europe. Only soft cheeses are definitely better in Europe because they can be made with unpasteurized milk.

Detroit style pizza is the best. "Detroit-style pizza is a deep-dish rectangular pizza topped with Wisconsin brick cheese and a cooked tomato-based sauce. The dough typically has a hydration level of 70 percent or higher, which creates an open, porous, chewy crust with a crisp exterior. The fresh dough is double-proofed and stretched by hand to the pan corners. When seasoning new steel pans, they usually need to be dry-baked using 10 to 18 ounces of dough per pan. Randazzo says that the crust should be about 1.5 inches thick for true Detroit-style pizza. The cheese is spread to the edges and caramelizes against the high-sided heavyweight rectangular pan, giving the crust a lacy, crispy edge.

My experiences of what's mentioned: 25 - I lived up in the NE part of the country, and when we had fried chicken, a common condiment was honey. So syrup wasn't that much of a stretch for me. 24 - Love Peppermint Patties, but it's in small doses and knowing what I'm about to consume. I can see how it could catch many off-guard. 23 - Corn dogs. I mean, what's not better once deep fried? 22- Not a big fan of Twizzlers or even "real" licorice 21 - Candy corn was awesome up til I was about 10. 20 - Tough one for me. Love the versatility of potatoes, but sweet pot's with marshmallows is just too much for me. 19 - Love root beer. Hires was the choice when I was a kid and then A&W became the thing. Haven't had it in 20+ years, but I'm sure I'd still like it. It's definitely an acquired taste. 18 - Bloomin' Onion, fun concept but really greasy. I'd rather just have a side of well-done onion rings. But that OB sauce is really good. 17 - Not a dessert guy whatsoever. I don't mind a small candy bar while watching a movie at night, but some of this is overkill. 16 - Grits - tried them in North Carolina. I had to get creative to give them any type of flavor with the tools I had at the table. Combination of 30% hot sauce & 70% syrup made them just okay. 15 - Cereal. As a kid I loved the sugar infusion. My sister and I would wake up early on Saturdays to watch cartoons all morning with a bowl in front of us. As I got older, I preferred the less sugary cereals. Still a fairly solid go-to when you have no time to prep anything else. I also don't mind a bowl or two of Raisin Bran or equal for dinner when I really am not motivated to make anything else. 14 - I practically lived on hot pockets on a daily basis. Get home late from work or even if you were out at your local tavern, hot pockets were in insta-cure to small food cravings. I don't care what's in them, they were a staple to my diet at least 2-3 times a week. One of the best frozen foods ever made IMO next to maybe Stauffer's French Bread Pizza. 13 - Grew up with Kraft singles. They were on every sandwich I ever had that mom made me for school up til I was 9. Don't like squirty cheese from a can. Personally, if I ever buy cheese now, it's sliced fresh. The one thing Kraft singles has going for it, maybe the absolute best melty cheese when making a grilled cheese sandwich. 12 - Ice. I work as a restaurant and bar designer. Chewable ice has been requested by more owners of these establishments than anything else. We here in America like to chew ice. So nugget machines now are capable of making ice that's actually chewable. It has a different density than simple cubes or nuggets. It's actually meant to be savored. 11 - Not a fan of fruit or vegetables. I 100% know their positives, but texturally, they are hard for me to chew. I love bananas, grapes, potatoes, corn and such. But I cannot get down things with stems and veins. 10 - Corn Syrup - unfortunately, it's used in too many things. I'd personally like to see it banned though it does make things taste better. I simply find it harmful. 09 - Grew up on white bread. Sure it has sugars in it many others don't, but it was a staple in this country - and pretty much still is, for over 100 years. 08 - Nobody hates ranch dressing. It's highly adaptive and can be used on anything. Salads of course, but also hamburgers, simple sandwiches and even pizza. Super versatile with a distinct flavor. 07 - Sweet Tea is just a bit too sweet for me. If you have a high-sugar palette, you'll likely love it and get hooked. 06 - Bacon bits are great for a cheap option. They're chemically based to reflect the taste (somewhat) of bacon. If you go to a real restaurant and order a salad with bacon bits, they will be 100% real bacon. 05 - I'm not a huge deep-fried fan of foods. But I'm a realist who watches vids and such and sees people loving them. I have to go with, that they're good because the majority is always eating it and seems happy. Not my thing but likely my loss. 04 - I never really liked Twinkies. I get the appeal, but I was always more of a Yodel's guy - or Ho Ho's & Devil Dogs. 03 - Chicago Deep Dish Pizza - it's okay, but just a bit to unfamiliar to me. I prefer NY style and even though I gave deep dish multiple tries, it more or less feels like i'm eating a soufle over a pizza. 02 - Pop Tarts are S-tier. You can eat them raw, cook them to the time the instructions give you, or as I liked to do occasionally, burn them until the insides are absolutely bubbling. One of the greatest inventions ever. Also, the old heavy foil used on each pack from the 70s thru the 80s was so much better than the flimsy foil used today. Concorde Grape. Dutch Apple. Harder to find flavors were awesome when you found them. The only better product to compete with Pop-Tarts may have been Merry-Go-Rounds. A bet less pastry and more flavor. 01 - Biscuits & Gravy - yes sir, may I have another. First had these bad boys on a business trip to Kansas City back in the early 2000s. Sausage gravy is insanely tasty and just made the biscuits that much better. Those are my thoughts off the top of my head based on my own experience. Anybody feel different? I love hearing options.

Regarding the white bread, the bread in the US has a higher sugar content compared to Europe and the UK. I remember thinking the bread was on the bland side going to Europe and the UK and a friend of mine from the UK said the bread was too sweet here. I think somewhere in Europe, they classified the bread used at Subway as cake.

Fruit salad is different in the US. Canned fruit or mixed fruit is one thing, (probably what you're thinking of), but fruit salad has whipped cream and marshmallows and all things sweet and icky. I can handle mixed fruit, even canned fruit in syrup once in a while...but I'd rather just eat fresh fruit as they are. Bananas or berries are my favorite. BTW, there are different versions of Ranch dressing. Some have more or less mayo and sour cream mixed.

The U.S. is a melting pot of cultures. What foods don't we have here? For anyone who doesn't like Root beer to each their own. I can still remember making root beer from scratch in my 8th grade science class and it was pure heaven. The closest thing I have had since is Henry Weinhard's Root beer, so good! Rubbish. I get tired of people saying FL not being in the South - FL is huge and culturally speaking two different states. The northern half of FL is very "southern" - as much as coastal GA, AL and MS. Tampa and Orlando are the demarcation points south that are "modern" FL, which is it's own kind of crazy. ...and as far as "sweet tea" is concerned, almost everyone selling it makes it too sweet - way sweeter than I EVER had it growing up in rural GA and AL which use at least HALF the sugar modern recipes call for.

Simple cheat way to make the white gravy for the biscuits. Get a tin of Campbell’s condensed mushroom soup, empty the contents into a pan without adding any milk. In another pan break up some sausage meat and fry it, when cooked add to the mushroom soup, if it’s too thick add a little milk then heat up the “gravy”. Ok it’s not quite the same but it’s not far off.

Twinkies were in just about every schoolkid's lunchbox back in the 1960s and 70s. To me, the sponge cake itself is decent, but the "creme filling" is revolting. They became notorious when the lawyers for Dan White, on trial for the murders of San Francisco mayor George Moscone and supervisor Harvey Milk, successfully argued that their client's addiction to sugary foods like Twinkies had resulted in diminished mental capacity, so that he was only convicted of voluntary manslaughter instead of murder. A "Twinkie defense" became the term for a seemingly outlandish legal insanity defense strategy that somehow pays off.

Pancakes and bacon with maple syrup is the best. We really don’t do much chicken and waffles where I live but it is good. Yep, if you twist the Oreo the “cream” will end up on one side. Yes to corn dogs and Twizlers. The candy corn doesn’t taste as good as it did when I was a kid. I like my sweet potatoes roasted with just butter, salt and pepper. Hold the marshmallows. Root beer floats, mmmm. Bloomin onions are kind of like a giant pull apart onion ring. Yum. Not the biggest fan of grits but if I’m in the south I’ll have them. I don’t eat a lot of cereal anymore. No to hot pockets. Gotta have ice. I avoid high fructose corn syrup. I grew up on squishy white bread. I’ve outgrown it! Ranch is pretty good but it’s not my go to. Usually Caesar or a garlic vinaigrette. Pork rinds are a good low/no card substitute for potato chips. I haven’t had a Twinkie in years. They were a real treat when we were kids. I live near Chicago so yes to deep dish. No to pop tarts. Yes to biscuits and gravy.

I must point out the ridiculous statement that you can't find good biscuits and gravy in the north. Fine cooks live all over and many are themselves southerners who relocated. I've had it from all over. Like anything the quality varies from place to place. It's not a regionally limited item to have with quality.

As an American, I personally hate several things on this list. Mint belongs with toothpaste and gum, not combined with chocolate and other things you ingest. 🤢 Also, Pop-Tarts and Candy Corn are disgusting. 🤢

Fruit salad and white bread aren't American. They are on the list because many Americans put marshmallows in fruit salad and here in the US, we replace the nutrients withs sugar. Try out white bread and you will not believe how sweet it is compared to in Europe.

I'm confused as why Europeans are confused about gravy. They are totally exposed to French cooking and gravy is nothing but a roux.

Grits is made with ground corn so it's something like risotto. Ranch and hot sauce is a good dip. Some bacon bits are real bacon. There's another Brit that Reacts called L3WG who diet consists of coke and McDonald's, and he's skin and bones. Go figure. Jolly loved Chicago Pizza. I think the only Pop Tarts with that Icing design is lemon.
