25 Gallon Lagoon Reef with Mitras LX7 LED

Man the colors under the LX7 look great, and you've got an awesome tank there! Definitely going with these lights on my next build..GHL quality seems impeccable. Now I just need my P4 to show up soon!

I asked my LFS owner why his torch corals don't have much flow and he said that they don't require it. Everything I've read about Euphyllia's is that constant direct high flow from a pump can damage them. But, all corals differ from species to species, so what do I know? Nice tank by the way!

Yep, your LFS is correct. Although in this case what you are seeing is probably a little bit deceiving. The pump is on the opposite end of the tank and it's in wave (pulse) mode, providing a back and forth motion. So it's not getting blasted with steady direct current. Trust me, if it wasn't happy, the tentacles wouldn't be at full extension like they are now. This is a great way to tell. And even with all this motion, I STILL have junk settling in the nooks and crannies of the rock that I have to blow out. Darnit! lol Also, trying to create a truly mixed reef in a nano tank, where you try to please all coral has been REALLY challenging. Part of the reason my coral have suffered over the past year+ the tank has been running. The SPS need the higher flow, the lps don't tend to like it much, the SPS need the high light, the chalices don't... constant struggles and balancing act. :) Thanks for the comments!

How do you like the skimmer, looks slick. I'm deciding what to go with after my home remodel and a part of me wants to run without a sump and use a hang on back skimmer.

James Morrison its way better than the ghost skimmer I had before. But it ain't no LifeReef like I have on my big tank in my sump. ;)

Might want to turn down the flow on your torch coral.

That torch is lovin life ever since I got him up into a higher flow area. :) Been there for months. But yeah... whodda thought?
