A correction to this video: What A Feeling is Austrian, not German! Thanks to those who let me know.
@maggiebee37227 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your work!! NB: What s feeling - is the latest Austrian lezflick by director Kat Rohrer (language being German and Farsi) as it portrays a Northern German hetero doctor who gets struck by Sapphic feelings for a Persian-born Shane-like Beth-looking carpenter. Both women are bound by their minority identities and the film is a great statement for our multi-cultural perspective finally getting mainstream- and queerer. No more Sound of Music or Mozart cliches- what a relief. Thank you, Kat!!!

High Country was *no spoilers* a fantastic show, I absolutely hope there will be another season, because the chemistry between Sara Wiseman & Leah Purcell was 🔥! Sara is dazzling, she continues to just be an absolute legend in terms of taking on queer roles. Leah Purcell was outstanding in the show, too. Hope you enjoy the last couple of episodes as much as I did! Great drama.❤ Thanks you for another great video, lots of great sapphic inspiration! 😁

FYI. In Britain being a gay woman has never been illegal. In the 1920s the government tried adding a clause to the existing gross indecency laws but the House of Lords knocked it back on the grounds it would give ‘feeble minded’ people (ie women) the idea that it could be a good thing! There is a myth that the laws didn’t include women because Queen Victoria didn’t believe relationships between women were possible…but that is just a myth 😊

Thanks to your videos, I finally got around to watching Janet King. So many times I've been disappointed by how things end for sapphics. This occasion was no different, although it may have been due to a fourth season being planned and not eventuating. The good news is, Miss King is perfectly comfortable with her lesbian sexuality, and the crime drama itself is of good quality. I had some time off and binged on all three seasons in as many days. But I did not get the ending I wanted. Alas, this is way too common.

I enjoyed The Fosters so much! There's a spin off called Good Trouble but Stef and Lena are not in it except the odd guest episode here and there (it focuses mainly on Mariana and Callie and a lot of new characters). I wouldn't say it has "mature lesbians" but it does have at least one queer storyline, maybe more I can't remember....it's been awhile since I watched it and I think there's at least one season I didn't watch yet. Good show though. Thanks for the correction on Between Two Women- and also fair that you were disappointed because even though it's a "happy ending" I do wish we at least got one on-screen kiss! I've gotta do some fan fic for this one lol. Thanks so much for this series, I am finding out about so many shows I hadn't heard of!

The Star Trek sapphic storyline between Seven and Raffi felt like queerbaiting. They briefly held hands once, kissed once and when their lives were in mortal danger barely spared a “guess this is it glance” as they planned to charge the line. Not a loving look, not a gentle anything, no kiss, not even the hug instead of kiss thing they do to remove the sexuality of lesbians.. like their “relationship” was used as fodder and to give them a few extra lines maybe but it was not cool to dump it faster than they built it, which they really didn’t at all

Love your videos and summaries. Just as an FYI for High Country, in Australia you can say a person is First Nation rather than native. We also respect people as Aboriginal rather than part Aboriginal. Just an FYI in case you make any more Aussie videos 🤞🏼

Thanks for those pointers, I'll remember that for next time. In Canada we also say First Nations, but I hadn't heard it used anywhere else.

I bought A Girl Thing on DVD years ago. I don't think I watched it more than once, so even though I don't remember it, I was obviously not particularly taken with it. Having said that, I'm not the same person I was back then. Maybe worth a rewatch.

@@Jo-jo4do I just finished watching it. And, um, your initial instinct about it was likely correct. 😂 Don't get me wrong, it was nice seeing beautiful Elle making out with a woman, especially when that woman is Kate Capshaw (Jessica 'Arizona from Grey's anatomy' Capshaw's mom). But it wasn't the greatest show by any stretch & the ending for that couple is for sure disappointing lol

These “matured” gay storylines are SOOOOOOO disappointing. It’s always about older women creeping on younger women or women sleeping with family exes or significant other. It’s sick sh*t. So annoyed it’s hard to find anything catching. A lot is barely relatable. It’s like these shows pushing an agenda “ gay ppl are creeps”. In reality Gay ppl are regular people so display us like that.
