I agree. I was born in Arizona but raised in Michigan. I’m absolutely not a lover of the hot weather, much preferring a Michigan winter. But the absolute vastness and silence of some of those remote desert areas, especially at night when the millions of visible stars reach down to the horizon, is definitely something to be experienced.

@@allieren I was born in Yuma Arizona(Yuck), but have lived all over this great country. I'm 61 years old, and now reside in Bisbee Arizona. There's a reason why old farts like me retire in Arizona. Even though Bisbee does get its share of snow, I'm not having to worry about shoveling my way out and falling all over the place. The topography here is so vast in such a small area, and the sun sets are a daily work of art. And to say Bisbee is laid back would be an understatement. Sorry for the novel.

I drove through Arches National Park during the summer, and it was fantastic. What was even more spectacular was the evening thunderstorm as we departed. Driving through the area, with shadowy strange formations in the dark, while jagged thunderbolts tore open the sky and lit up everything was one of the most incredible natural sights I've witnessed.

This was more an underrated places to see. So any better areas Yellowstone Grand Canyon, Death Valley, The Southwest rugged rocks and deserts, can not come close to being appreciated unless you actually see them in person. This video had so many for a reason and it desensitized people to the actual beauty. I always thought Grand Canyon big deal a hole in the ground. When I got there it was dark, the next morning when I awoke I stayed at El Tovar Hotel so close the dinning room view only showed the view no land. I walked out and the old cliché it did take my breath away, Amazing! Its a sin they dont show the Sunrise and even more the sunsets in those areas. Purple orange fire red, turquoise, green all in a layer with a yellowish glow of the sun, probably the most hypnotic things you will ever see. That night I stared at it until the colors vanished, I missed my dinner reservation had to have been staring over an hour easily

I remember the first time I drove Big Sur. I live in Santa Barbara and I was visiting my family in Monterey. I decided to take highway 1 back after taking i5 and 101 north. The day was very foggy, I'm talking 20-30 yard visibility, going around hilly turns. Figured it would be like that most of the drive. Well I come around one more turn past a cliffside and come out looking over that shoreline backed up to those massive cliffs, the sky just opened up and sun poured in. It was like being welcomed to heaven for a moment. People were flying kites and wind surfing. My jaw literally dropped. The most unbelievable view I've had in California, took my breath away.

California and Nevada are huge states and cover more than just "warm" climates. When they said Lake Tahoe hosted the Olympics, they meant the Winter Olympics. Big Sur is more like 60-70 degrees instead of 70-80 since the Pacific Ocean on the West Coast is a lot colder than the Atlantic on the East.

I live in America and am so sad of the amount of traveling I’ve been able to do in my life honestly. Though I honestly am and grew up pretty poor, it’s my dream to be able to see more of my country and honestly the rest of the world before I die tbh, and it makes me sad I haven’t got to see more of the world. I live in Mississippi and never been more East than Florida, north of Tennessee, and west Louisiana. But I’ve always wanted to travel amd especially to some of the deserts like Death Valley (though my fat @$$ gotta be careful and not die). But I agree, I was never a fan of them either, but I wanna go to experience this exact thing. I’m more of a green fields, mountains, not 1000 degrees places lol, but I would love to go to a mountain and experience what you’re talking about. But yeah, I wanna travel and see the rest of the world so badly lol. Ik you didn’t ask/care to hear all this lol, it just what you described has recently been one of the things I wanna be able to go see one day soon tbh and I see videos and pics all the time, but I hear ppl describe it and feel like it’s one of those places you just have to experience in person.

How many murders are they up to so far? Of course, anywhere is fine if you can afford to live in gated communities and avoid the city's gang violence. Most people, just like me when I lived in Illinois, would live outside the city, in my case, around Wheeling. Bob Chinn's Crab House used to be good eating, and the French restaurant down the street called Le Francais. I have not lived there in over 25 years, thank God.

Martha's Vineyard IS an island, just off the southern coast of Massachusetts. It has a very interesting "religious retreat", that was popular in the late 1800's. The "retreat" was only used in the summer and the "homes" were, originally, just canvas tents. Later, the visitors turned those "homes" into wooden buildings. The buildings are now multicolored and look like small, ginger bread houses. The Kennedy's had an estate on the western part of the island. The two, main towns, are on the Eastern side. Expensive to stay there but not outrageous.

The Lake Tahoe area has the City of Reno, NV, with its casinos. Which is nice.
@BTinSF
@BTinSF Жыл бұрын
As their video says, Lake Tahoe is on the border of California and Nevada. This is important because California has a high income tax rate and Nevada has NO state income tax. What this means is that lots of wealthy Californians have homes on the Nevada shore in places like Incline Village where they claim residence and avoid the state tax in California. Also, the town of State Line, Nevada, which is actually next to the border between the 2 states, is the home of multiple casino hotels which are legal in Nevada but not California. This is part of what makes Tahoe so popular because the casinos provide what Daz is seeking--sophisticated evening entertainment, drinking opportunities, gambling and so on to enjoy after a day water skiing in summer or snow skiing in winter.

Just a legal note - drones are illegal in National Parks and many public lands so be careful. So are selfie sticks. Antelope canyon is STUNNING. There is Upper and Lower canyons. Lower is more accessible, but Upper is less traveled and you can pay for a photography tour and they clear out the canyon several times so you can get photos. Also the place where beams of sunlight shine down through the crevices. The sand does blow in from above though, so bring a windbreaker with hood. I hiked up Sand Dunes some time ago, took about 2 hours to get to the top of the highest dune from the parking lot. When I got back, my shoes AND socks were full of sand. Wear flip flops and sunscreen. I was burnt to a crisp that evening. Lake Tahoe is a mountain lake, at 6264ft elevation, so it gets cold year round. Near Monument Valley along US Route 163 near Mexican Hat Utah is the Forrest Gump Viewpoint where they filmed that scene in the movie. It is marked on Google maps.

Lake Tahoe is on the border between California and Nevada. One can gamble in several large casinos, in the town of South Lake Tahoe, then walk 1 block, into California, and take a ski gondola to the top of the local peak and ski back down into California OR Nevada. Antelope Canyon is the place with the wavy, smooth, colorful walls, where you can hike through its slot canyons. There was a young American who hiked through slot canyons by himself, and as he tried to bypass a large rock blocking his path, the rock shifted and trapped his arm against the wall. He was stuck there for days, until he realized his arm was turning gangrene and he was going to die if he didn't free himself. He deliberately broke his arm using torque, then sawed it off at the elbow with a pocket knife and pliers (he carried a pocket multi-tool). Then he had to repel 65 yards down a sheer wall, and hiked 6 miles, until he ran into a family from the Netherlands who were touring the area. One ran for help while the others gave him food and water. It was quite an ordeal.

Right at the beginning was a clip of tons of hot air balloons. This is, no doubt, part of Albuquerque's annual balloon festival; that NM city is the perfect place to fly them. The Badlands is in the same general area as Mt. Rushmore, the Black Hills, and Custer State Park. Glacier Bay N.P. is a short ferry ride from the capital of Juneau. Another N.P. up there which is equally stunning is Kenai (KEEN-eye) Fjords. Antelope Canyon is one of many jawdropping places on the Najavo Res. Golden Gate Bridge goes to Marin County (pronounced muh-RIN, rather than MARE-in). Across the border in Canada is the twin park of Glacier, namely, Waterton Lakes. The 4 animals shown were a mule deer, a marmot, a herd of Rocky Mtn. bighorns in the distance, and a mtn. goat up close. Like Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley is also on the Navajo Res. Grand Teton is just a few miles south of Yellowstone.

Grew up in and around Savannah (and went to SCAD). It's a town-owned by artists and is very much European-feeling, as it was largely built by some of the original English settlers. It's the only place in the U.S. outside of the northeast that has the pseudo-colonial feeling while you're there - but with much better food. btw: all the big red cliff areas look similar because they are all in the same area of the U.S. and pretty close to one another.

If only SCAD would pay taxes and stop buying up all the real-estate in Savannah driving costs through the roof.

If you enjoy these "aerial" tour types of things there is a series on the "Smithsonian Channel" titled "Aerial America." Each episode is based on one state and it covers the state via planes and drones so you see cities as well as landscapes and such along with some "history" of the state as well.

The Jim Carrey you are referring to is Bruce Almighty and you are correct, he was on a boat getting soaked at Niagara Falls.

I knew when I saw the title that they were going to recycle a lot of the same places you just saw in the 25 Best National Parks. Actually the whole focus of this video seemed off. They mostly showed natural wonders and parks but just randomly tossed in a city (Savannah) and Key West (also a city but a natural beauty as well). A lot of these videos use the same stock footage and thus the same locations, but if there are any that take a deeper dive in more detail there is a LOT more to see of the US than just this. Maybe watch some Strictly Dumpling videos...it's about food, but he usually delves into some of the local culture as well.

The video failed to mention where Sedona is located. It's in near Prescott, Arizona. The red rock hills and mountains are absolutely breath taking!! I live in Arizona and love visiting all the natural beauty the state has to offer!

From GA, Savannah is of Spanish influence. Like much of florida. Go down to the river though and you can walk around with alcohol. Also, Forrest Gump's bust stop is there. Life is like a box of chocolates...

For beautiful major cities, San Francisco and New Orleans were always my favorites. No matter which way you looked, San Francisco just seemed to be posing for a glamour shot. I fear much has changed there since last I roamed the hilly streets. In New Orleans, I cherished any opportunity to lose myself wandering through the French Quarter or the Garden District.

Just one thing to add: when she talks about the Golden Gate Bridge, she says it connects San Francisco and “MARE-in” (Marin) County. It’s actually pronounced “mah-RIN”. Sorry, that just bothered me. Otherwise, come to the southwest. You wouldn’t expect it to be, but It’s absolutely beautiful.

Just a bit of information, the southwest desert is a completely different sight at dusk and dawn. It's like 2 different worlds depending the time of day. I'm from California and hate the desert environment boring boring boring. But I was truly amazed when visiting Sadona AZ for a week, I shot the best photographs I have ever captured. That says a lot living a quqrter mile from the Dana Point Hardor referred to as the most romantic harbor on the west cost, The California gold coast offerers photo opps everywhere you look. So don't dismiss the beauty the the red rock and sandstone formations.
