I think it's more than that. All of those characters seem to have went down in situations outside of their control, unlike Orobaxi that discovered something. I think we may be looking too deep to pin everything on Celestia or Khaenri'ah, if not straight up entering tinfoil-hat territory. As an example of what I mean: in the previous Lantern Rite, Zhongli changed places at the end several times. Each time revealing to us a bit of lore. In the end he reveals that not every tale that can have a connection to an entity is actually connected at all. But rather can be mere happenstance of various other outside variables. That said; perhaps we should instead focus on what we know for certain and claim certainty of other ideas only after we have undeniable proof. Besides, we are getting alot of narrators to this story lately, and each one with their own point of view and ideals.

I'd disagree slightly about "Zhongli and Venti". Venti was basically saying "You knew I was there but you didn't invite me." and Zhongli replied with a "People are all busy watching the lanterns and strolling around the shops, and they might just go travel somewhere on a whim. It is rather difficult to predict another's whereabouts." Which I think was his was of saying "Yes, I knew you were there, but I didn't know whether you came here to see me or for some other reason, so I thought it better not to do anything."

Another story from this Lantern Rite: Shenhe is not only trained under Cloud Retainer. She also train with Mountain Shaper and possibly other Adeptus too. Mountain Shaper actually feels bad that Shenhe have to eat raw herbs everytime she train with him because he doesn't have any cooking skills and he hope that he could borrow Cloud Retainer's cooking machine so Shenhe can actually have decent food.

Makoto and Guizhong both believed in humans and their endles potential and both met suspiciously similar fates. Both meeting their end at a fate pre-determined by celestia [ie: cataclysm and archon war] It is almost as though something is trying to tell us something. Especially if you take Makoto's connection to Istaroth into account. Also Zhongli’s own words indicate there could be foul play in her passing. [him saying “the same truth would be different if told by different ppl] points to this. Consider, one: Guizhong and Makoto weren’t fighters , [we know this from both Ei and Zhongli explicitly telling us this] so why then did they jump into battle? two: very convenient that both Ei and Zhongli weren’t able to get to either of them until they were already gone. @@_hector__ Well, Istaroth is sealed away on the island of wind and time in Mondstadt (That one Island not visible on the map), you find out about her when doing the worldquest Time and the wind, which I find interessting seeing that Istaroth is the only known shining shade of the primordial one that we know of until now (in terms of name ect.) Also, Venti knows the god of time himself, which might add to a deeper meaning. Seeing that Istaroth was once worshipped as the god of wind and time. Perhaps we learn about that more in the future. I hope we get more lore about her when we go to fontaine.

there's a working theory that Zhongli was forced to kill Guizhong because she suddenly became corrupted - described by a carved stone saying "Black dust and stone clashed" or something of that gravity. plus at the end, it's only Zhongli who's said to be there by her side as she died. corruption seems to be a huge fear of a lot of the gods/adepti in Liyue

You didn't mention that Zhongli said that the same truth would be different if told by different people. I think it's a hint that there's something more happen about Guizhong's death. Especially about Soraya's research where she still questioning about who is able to kill Guizhong in a country ruled by two powerful gods. Zhongli would be the one that truly know what happened to Guizhong as they supposed to spend their last moment together based from Memory of Dust

Mhm! I still thinks it's highly possible she died b/c she knew something she wasn't supposed to/forbidden knowledge? like Orabashi or King Deshert. She could have found something out and decided to sacrifice herself as well in order to protect the others in Liyue. I also find it interesting how they don't specify who killed Guizhong. Since she was one of the gods of the Guili plains, whether or not she was a fighter, who killed her? And alone for that matter. They were all late to getting to her, and I'm not saying that she's not allowed to go out alone but as one of the main gods of that realm, it seems a little suspicious for her to have been alone and far enough away from the others that they wouldn't be able to interfere. (I'm definitely looking too far into how she died but it's still a shower thought that crosses my mind once in awhile. But I still want to know who would have done it)

Because she is very similar to her in appearance and also in the fact that she is also engaged in mechanics, the only thing that they do not have the same is clothes. @@iosis9324 I don't really believe in that theory. I've seen their side by side and yea their hair style is similar but Lumine's/Noelles/and Katheryns are all also in that similar style. We also know that only the top 3 Harbingers of powers to rival the gods, so if Sandrone was Guizhong she shouldn't be so low, and definitely not lower than Scaramouche. Guizhongs mind and mechanical engineering would be more better to compare to Dottore's or Rhinedottir's minds and masteries. Plus, having a mind like Guizhong on the Fatui team should lead to them using many more of her mechanical skills but from what we know of most of the upgrades the Fatui seem to have are provided by the Doctor. It's possible Sandrone handles the weaponry construction but there's no confirmation on that. Overall it wouldn't be the first time characters look similar. But I don't think there's an actual connection of them being the excat same person rather than people with a similar interest(or even possibly that Sandrone looks up to the mechanisms of Guizhong. After all Faruzan is also interested in that kind of tech along with others at the Akademiya). Pantalone/Baizhu and Sandrone/Katheryn have more merit in their similarities and possibilities of them being the same people/being created by said person.

Because even the mere thought of some consultant from Wangsheng being Rex Lapis is just unimaginable to most. To people of teyvat, Rex Lapis is the geo archon. Probably she was the closest one to everyone alongside Zhongli himself that's why everyone seems to miss her specially Zhongli who had to learn a lot of stuff to keep liyue safe on her behalf And the fact that madam ping foreshadow that one human will be her equivalent... If might actually refer to ningguang since she is really cunning and gifted ... Not to mention she surpassed cloud retainer mechanical skills by creating the jade chamber... Which lead to the latter finally trying to continue working on a way to improve her design ... So probably the final act of all this will be ningguang or the guizhong equivalent finally unlocking the memory of dust ... Thing that even Zhongli could not do ... Which will reveal a final bittersweet message that will hit right in the feelings for everyone

As usual, your attention to detail always impresses me. Gosh I miss your videos, being buried in work for the last half of '22. I was very surprised at Guizhong's personality reveal, plus the cutscene really bugs me as to who or what defeated her, and why it seemed like (from the cutscene) Zhongli and the rest weren't there together with her during her battle. In the beginning, there were those who thought Zhongli ended her life both as a condition and result of the Archon Wars, and this was partly due to the line in a stone tablet translated by Soraya, ""...and there they fought upon the Guili Plains, where black dust choked the heavens and a thousand rocks splintered..." and the famous line from Archaic Petra, "he would show no mercy, even to friends-turned-foes." After seeing the cutscene, we now know for certain it wasn't the case, as Cloud Retainer narrates, "Guizhong was overpowered by the enemy". Being an optimist that she is - perhaps she volunteered to stay back and protect, while the rest headed off to defeat the raging mobs. Did Guizhong share the same fate I wonder, as that which echoes the same pattern - of how Rostam staying behind to 'hold the fort' eventually led to his death by Durin. And why is she in that position? Almost looks like she was protecting something... but what? The Bell? Or the Memory of Dust (from which her famous last words were stated)? And that which encases her - what does it look like to you? I'll leave that to your imagination. As to the matter of whether Guizhong was 'silenced' for discovering 'forbidden knowledge' - that perhaps we cannot say for certain - she did acquire 'evil and ancient artifacts - Ruin Machines' but isn't that just a pure interest in mechanics? Plus, I'm not sure what sort of 'forbidden knowledge' could one find in that pursuit, and if there were such things, wouldn't Sumeru scholars be silenced as well? Who knows... So who killed Guizhong? The only subtle scent of a trace left that I could find is what's written in the lore of the Primordial Jade Cutter: "When wine vessels are filled with blood, and when tender feelings are ripped asunder by cold ambition and reduced to dust on the wind, Gifts ungiven and bonds unspoken will become sharp blades with which to cleave erstwhile friends." So, who do we know has 'cold ambition' and is a 'former friend'? Also, the phrase 'bonds unspoken' really gets me - Zhongli and Guizhong being best friends (as suggested by Soraya), how they named the settlement they founded together, how MHY is even so poetic with their names having the first and last syllables sounding the same. Did you know there's a rare song in the game called Lover's Oath? It's the one that played when you meet Xiao at Wangshu Inn during the 'Tuned to the World's Sounds' event a long time ago - apparently many people were misled to believe that it was Guizhong's Lullaby - it does have a bittersweet melody. You know what's interesting? The Chinese character for Zhong (钟) in 'Zhongli' means 'bell' or 'time', whereas the 'zhong' (终) in 'Guizhong' means 'end' or 'death'. archon quests seems finnicky tbh, because late travelers can experience it in a pretty much different sequence than early travelers story quests and world quests quests however doesnt seem to have canon timeline at all, because they're all side-content but event stories flows canonically as real life these three timelines have been like this for moments

@@helper_bot I agree. Events like Lantern Rite, GAA, and Windblume/Irodori/Moonchase/etc help set the precedence of current time passed in the game. For example- Those of us who did 1.1's Unreconciled Stars- Scaramouche remembered us in 2.3. Xiao's promise to us in 1.3 to call on his name was revisited in the Moonchase Festival- he only responded to us, and not Paimon. He continues with his promise throughout, such as the Chasm story. When we had the GAA2 event, Venti had already recalled meeting Kazuha at the Irodori festival, and I think Xinyan mentioned the Iridescence Tour- which at that point was only previously mentioned in the Labyrinth event. I wouldn't be surprised if Venti remembered that and really pulled the strings to help make it happen in Liyue after catching wind that someone that hosts it was nearby.

The traveller has been for more than two years and 6 months. This is because: -1 year is from this lantern festival. -1 year is from after you finish the Liyue's archon quest. -6 months are from when you meet Paimon at the beginning of the game. I am sure there are more references, and I think it would be cool to see the entire time the traveler has been in Teyvat until now. Note: Although this lantern rite suggests that the traveller has been 1 year in teyvat because last lantern the trevaller met shenhe and yunjin, I think it might not be very trustfull (if shenhe says the same in a account that didnt played during the last lantern rite, it would not mean that the traveller has been that year in teyvat). Also, would this mean that each traveller can have benn more time in teyvat depending on the events he/she had participated on? And maybe, since in the start cutacene of the game both travellers fall feom the sky as stars at the same time, that could mean that the traveller has also been other 500 years slept. And since the archon quests allways says that the Kaeneiah incident happened 500 years ago, that would mean that since the lost sibling woke up until now (maybe), it hasnt been more than 600 years, or at least, the kaenriah incident.

This lantern rite's event's prerequisite doesn't include raiden's 2nd chapter, therefore you could play this event before abolishing sakoku decree The first time xingqiu met venti during irodori festival, there were no introductions, xingqiu even approached venti and asked about onodera's situation, due to those two, they are already acquainted before irodori festival. 9:59 The mention of a year ago is not consistent with Japanese language (I played JP voice and Eng sub). The JP never use an exact time description, the words said are "from that time" (translated). The English translation probably refers to the Shenhe interlude quest which was released last year's lantern Rite, hence a year. Seeing as JP is often closer to the CN wordings, I do trust it more. But this leads to many translations issues in English where additional context is added without following the source. Like at the end of the dinner, Hu Tao wants to offer us a two for one coupon... Except that was only in English, the JP dub didn't have that line at all.
