Saturday, Oct 10, I did my first ever motorcycle track day on my Aprilia RSV4. It was overwhelming the amount of things you have to know in order to be any good at getting around the track efficiently. I learned so much about what I was doing wrong. And this video covered the major one: Body position. This is great info! Thanks, Alberto!!

Your advice really resonating. Great your doing this in English (for us lazy folks). I’m only about 18 months starting on track, I so wish I had the this at the beginning of that journey. Still not too late. One of my best lessons is to run at 80% of ability so you are not overwhelmed and you can focus without sh*#*ing yourself. Also concentrate on one thing at a time. Great vid.

Your step-by-step instructions with the rationale behind them are excellent and helpful! I would like to know more about inside foot/ankle position. Ball of the foot tucked out of the way in by the peg pivot or out on the tip? Ankle open (>90 deg) or bent more to carry my weight? I see pros doing it both ways. Thank you!

The best video so far I have watched regarding riding stills Thx for your generously 1) positive energy 2) how to improve step by step 3) important common mistakes 4) effectively using video and photos to explain complicate matters 5) I spent over €4000 to learned most of them from racing school in a total 4 days lessons but now it is free in a few minutes video. P.S. going to school is a must, but if u watched it before, it will be more cost effective Questions hope u can help me out 🙏🏼 1) right palm position on throttle during right corners ! Will u grip inward first and brake , then transit to grip edge and roll the throttle for exit? I cannot do this transition ! Will u grip outward first and brake ? Then I find the brake is very sensitive and left hand grip outward and left hand grip inward is strange !

How should I practice lowering the bike? My coach told me that I'm too afraid to do that. But I don't know the limits and I don't know how to practice that. @@michaelczolko6093 From what I experienced as a beginner, vision skill is the most important one (having markers for braking, cornering, apex and exit). If you work on vision, you should succeed in understanding right trajectory. Don't go too fast having only these two though, can be dangerous x') Having right trajectory, you can start working more efficiently on your body position and hanging / use of legs for steering etc. You should eventually touch the knee. Your knee will touch the ground way before tyre limitations. So basically if you have good vision / trajectory / body position, you start riding pretty safe. Then you can start working more on braking, cornering and exit speed and approach the limit gradually if you want to I guess, but being able to ride safely is already super good feeling!

@@lakaiskates8064 I been riding for a few years Now on the street but its nothing similar on the track . The basics are for both the same but since this year I am driving trackdays and I already sliding my knees without even knowing . So it goes very well . The most important is that you listen and find someone who will guide you … Forget your time laps , Thats the less important . Learn how to drive with confidant . In the weekends , sit on your bike for 30 min and practice your position on paddock stands ( you will not fall 😉. For me its heaven on Earth Since I ride trackdays but I have my teacher for a whole year so hé can coach me and check my progress . Now that I have good body position, head lower, elbow out, butt off the bike, open body to face the turn and good lean angle. Now, I am having to learn how to turn the bike all over again. Because I am leaning further into a turn, I was having trouble closing turn in the correct line. Everything you said is perfect ! Dont care about lap time, I always start slow build up my speed. Yes learning not to fight the power of the big 1299 V-twin.

You said some good words that people need to burn into their soul that applies to any discipline. Approach anything you want to learn as a blank sheet, and know that you know nothing or you will learn nothing. I'm paraphrasing but you can get the meaning. Great presentation. When someone fights the bike for control it will always win. Video is a good way to see your mistakes and correct what you're doing.

I know how difficult it is to resist the temptation to do better and better lap times. I realize how much more I have to learn and I realize that such pushing does not teach anything. Only way to get better on that is practice at a slow speed and repeat it indefinitely until it becomes our second nature. One thing is great about it. This learning is endless. I would like to explain how to change body position at the begining of the braking. When I have to switch gears down when I want to slow down before entering the corner. And second topic is switching the palm at the throttle when you stoped the braking and you want to push after the apex. You have been talking about this in one of your previous videos. And maybe last one: In what angle is save to have full gas. Do I have to always have full or is good enought to switch gears by the diods at the dashboard? Thank you Albi.... What is the series that you will be racing next year please? :-)

Nice video. I want to add that because it is a sport, it's all about training , you have to built some muscles that takes some time. Especially at legs, that are really destroyed after the end of a day. You can say it's like gym. You can't go and lift 100 kilos at once, even if you are capable.other wise you will just sit your butt at the seat and try to fight with bike. So in my opinion to get as much of satisfaction from this, you need to invest not only at good suspension and carbon wheels but to strengthen the body too is very important. Ps. Ohhh and timer is completly useless for new guys. What's the point of monitoring laps if: -you are 40 seconds slower than the record -your lap times vary 4-5 seconds because of mistakes and because of other riders at track (the newbie group is also very dangerous.. ) So do a favour to yourself whoever is new one and throw that lap timer away

I appreciate your content. Very useful and I highly recommend track riding for anyone who rides street. It helps focus on fundamentals described in this video. Sure there is a world of difference and I would argue more dangerous on street. I.E. bad motorists but if you can practice so that all you learn on track is muscle memory, It can make you a safer more competent rider. Which translates into more enjoyment. Great vid!
