All great tips, but I agree with you Alan! Tip 3 is hard for me to apply for the same reason. 😃 Thank you so much for the great information you share in these videos. You guys put the fun in It'll Be Fun!

After a long career that took me to 40 countries, I always planned to retire abroad. But then I started my own reselling business at age 60 so now I’m keeping my US rental apartment as a home base while living part-time in another country. Sourcing products to resell from other countries is also a tax-deductible business expense that subsidizes my travel. Being frugal allowed me to lower my living costs so I can enjoy the best of both worlds. And I don’t have to deal with foreign taxes, long-term visas or other hassles!

Just be aware that if you rent for a whole year just to find out if you want to live in that area, it does not come without extra costs. On top of rent, house prices will have risen. In the last couple of years prices have risen by up to 20% per year. You could well kick yourself for waiting a year and watching the prices rise so fast you are priced out of the market. On top of that , exchange rates might adversely affect you too, but that is like crystal ball gazing. Money in the bank will lose value with depreciation. Don’t expect a decent interest rate in a Euro account in Portugal. Waiting a year can be quite risky.

So much info. You guys are great. Well done all. Is there any other reason I'd have to go back to the States? (well I know jury duty unless I settle quickly / properly). Downsize - check - cannot wait!!! Already started, dumpster rental loads (2)!. A budget will be new for me. Scary! I really need to work on such I am 100% sure. ugh Taxes will be a definite hire out. Language, being immersed surely helps and maybe someone teaches it on the side?... Healthcare, I'd think expats would want the standard and private for the best of coverages. I thought I'd never have to cook again lol. Surviving on a meal out once a day. Kidding. But really, I'd rather just have little stuff at home. idk I will have to see how that can work. I would think one would want to experience foods like crazy. Thanks for another enlightening vid! So enjoyable. So exciting. But I tell people and they don't share the same enthusiasm so I should learn to ignore their odd replies. I don't get it. Funny. Neither do many I talk to about a lifestyle change. Crazy.

Olá! You are right most folks don't really understand when you say you are interested in moving Abroad. That is alright and it is also why we have a group of like minded folks. We may all have different money but we are all like minded in creating the adventure. As for other things to go back to the states for... Family, selling a property that's about it. And for the budget we actually lived in 50% less for the last couple years before we left the USA, just to be sure we could and didn't feel deprived.

@@ItllBeFun No I cannot believe you got that message. I typed it twice and twice it did not show up on my end. It just wiped out. Well thanks for getting and replying. I don't have tons of funds, just some saved in bank doing nothing. It's just working has afforded me the luxury perse to have someone mow my grass or clean my house or hire someone to do what need be etc. Things I would not have time for. I just cannot wait to be free!

The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.

Olá! Thanks for being here. We appreciate your support. I think you may be referring to the Golden Visa which allowed property to be purchased. If so, there are still plenty of Golden Visa options. Come join us at www.patreon.com/itllbefun and www.itllbefunretirement.com
