I'm proud to say that I knew about over half of these events, but I was still surprised by the ones I did not. Here's a strange fact that sounds fake but isn't: Once a ship of the English navy was defeated by a cavalry charge. Here's the story: In August 12, 1806, the English crown was trying to take control over the port of Buenos Aires, a Spanish crown colony at the time, to incorporate it into their own colonies, as a sort of Hong Kong of South America (they never actually intended to take over the whole colony, they just wanted the port and all the commerce it would bring because they could tax it). During the battle to retake Buenos Aires by the Spanish, a young cadet named Miguel de Guemes, who grew up to be a leader of the rebeles against Spain during the South American Wars of independence, was in charge of a cavalry unit. An English frigate, the "Justine" was in a river of Buenos Aires when suddenly the tide changed and the river became nothing but a small stream, getting the ship to get stuck in the mud with no possibility of moving until they waited for the river's tide to change again. Guemes and his cavalry unit saw this, and charged at the ship since their horses now could just gallop up to the ship thanks to the low tide (the mud made it difficult, of course, but still possible). They failed in their first attempt as the crew of the Justine fired their cannons at the approaching cavarly. But after regrouping, Guemes led a second cavalry charge that was successful, he and his men boarded the Justine from their horses and took the entire crew as POWs. And that is how a ship was defeated by a cavalry charge.

Were the first settlers and slaves in the US considered to be American? If citizenship can be defined as your country of birth rather than the country you move to and apply for citizenship, then Cleopatra WAS an Egyptian.
@carlosvillanueva853010 ай бұрын
No slaves weren't counted as citizens until the "two thirds law" because, they weren't considered people, they were considered property. Settlers also were not considered Americans, or else Van Buren wouldn't be the first American President. George Washington is the First President of America, but he isn't the First American President, that would be Martin Van Buren. But I 100% agree with you that if Cleopatra was born in Egypt, she was an Egyptian.

The fact People try to use BCE and CE Instead of BC and AD cuz The latter is offensive due to its connotation for the importance of the birth of Christ is so silly to me. Because they’re still using the birth of Christ as the’ pivotal calendar’ date. They didn’t change anything they just changed calling it “before Christ”. And whether you believe that Christ was the son of God or not you got to admit his birth is a pretty important thing in the history of mankind.. Well I’m antipope Catholic oh so you don’t believe cats carry the soul of the devil so it differentiates. Its hard to be in the hells angels just for the kids toy run fundraisers but not be cool with all the crime and guns and drugs. So picking what group you associate with is telling.

@@civicstar982 the Catholic Church codified the first Bible in 395 AD. The Pope is not the Church but a visible head of the Church. Jesus Christ is the actual head of the Catholic Church. Why do people keep spouting that Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian, you are following linage her "father". But because you have never found her body and done a DNA test, she could be anything, three in ten children born to American fathers aren't theirs genetically. The man was a general and back in the day generals weren't known to lead an army by staying home. We have no proof that he didn't go native when doing the wild thang, which would mean that Cleopatra would have been half Egyptian by birth and therefore Egyptian. Most ancient cultures lineage through the mothers because you can prove the child came out the woman, but you can't prove the child came out of the man until DNA tests became a thing. Science needs to stop saying that they know things they can't possibly know. CSI Egypt isn't know for getting the story right, The Pharoah's daughter showed up with a child of the slaves named Moses and he became a Prince of Egypt because that's just how good the genetic testing was at the time. Daughter of Pharoah said, "This is my son." Everyone else said, "Damn strait he's your son." You didn't hear a whisper from CSI Egypt.

Any poor person (generally teenagers) with a full set of adult teeth. Some dentists wanted to make sure their patient (aka the person getting the tooth) had a tooth that fit their mouth so insisted on having a line of poor people waiting outside, you know... just in case donor one's tooth didn't fit in the patient's mouth
