Oh I can’t event believe how beautiful this is. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong part of the world, as nothing makes my heart skip a beat like an old English cottage surrounded by wild and beautiful gardens. Thank you for sharing such beauty and inspiration. 🤍

So interesting to grow upon an existing garden foundation where perhaps generations of gardeners have left positive energy as well as plant surprises behind. I Can't imagine better inheritors to carry forth the activities. Best luck.

Mona I love, love, love your garden. I especially enjoy gardens where nature is just tipping over the balance of too neatly controlled to something that welcomes wildlife and pollinators.

I was happy to hear that the ducks get out to play. I could see how much they wanted out when you were by their pen, and I thought that would be sad if they could never get out. Your garden is magic.

They love a rummage through the garden. Sadly the fox likes to eat them too so we have to be very careful. Thanks so much 😊

Really glad to hear your ducks get a chance to be out of the pen in the day, couldn’t bare the thought of them being stuck in 24/7 without stretching their legs and having something different to do 👍What a beautiful garden you have, you’ve done yourself proud in such a relatively short time! X 💖👍

This is my dream garden. I have tried growing a lot of English plants, but it is just too hot here. But I am refusing to give up my roses. Some summers I might lose a rose bush or two. but I just can't live without them.

I love the 'No Mow May' practice - it creates more insects for my Swifts when they arrive in the spring, as the Swifts need all the help they can get. I would love to be able to say my ducks trample the Alliums a little bit, lol - love the ducks. The poly tunnel talk is very interesting and the wild life area with the pond and compost bins is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for showing us your amazing gorgeous garden.

Regarding your leggy lavender....go ahead and reshape by cutting back INTO the woody part creating a nice mounted shape. I was taught for years never to cut into the woody part, but actually YES YOU CAN! I do it and plants do amazing!! I cut mine back in early Spring and within 3 months you'll have tons of regrowth and blooms. If the plant looks horrible now, even at this late date, go ahead and prune...you've got nothing to loose.
@wolfsbane19912 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing this! I have tons of lavender but one of them has gotten so woody because the previous owner didn't cut it back like I always do. I was always told never to cut into the wood, so I was avoiding that.. But will definitely try it!

Your garden is a dream!! I love the flowers on the steps and the plants growing against the wall. Your colour palette is so beautiful! I adore the wildness of the last part! It's almost like you're in a forest. Your knowledge is incredible! As someone who doesn't know much of planting can I ask where you learned things? I would love to learn more but I don't know where to start.

You are such a lucky young woman! You have done such an amazing job in enhancing what has been there for centuries, without modernizing it. I just love the poetic romance of it all. BTW, I have read that you should never plant tomatoes where they have been before. Pick a new spot, or pot them.

There is a metalic tape you can place around borders to keep slugs out, also placing broken glass shards(or other spikey materials) underneath or aroundd pots/area will also prevent them from entering.

Check out Living Traditions Homestead videos. They built what they call a "chicken moat" for their chickens and ducks. You could do something like this, on a smaller scale, along one side of your garden so the ducks can roam more (I see several viewers were worried about the ducks being penned up). Love your garden! We had the privilege of living in England for 3 years and all the wonderful gardens were my favorite part. I loved how we could buy bouquets of flowers for 50 pence from the open markets or alongside the road next to people's gardens. It was a wonderful experience! Thanks for sharing your lovely garden with us.
