2621 Tamilnadu Exp. - Sewagram till Nagpur (Dec. 2000)

The train covered Sewagram to Nagpur in one hour flat. Along the way, we crossed the 24-coach Grand Trunk Exp., Andaman Exp. with a non-AC First Class coach, and Jaipur-Chennai Exp. with BRC WAM4. As we pulled into Nagpur, we met the Vidarbha Exp. with an Ajni WAM4 in charge. Be sure to relish track sounds throughout the video.

Love seeing all the WAM-4's. Last train I boarded with that locomotive was Kacheguda express in 2008, got a WAM-4 from Chennai to Renigunta, and a smoky WDM-3A from there on. It was the last Engine change I witnessed up close during the 20 minute halt.

Travelling these entire Mumbai-Howra line; across places like Bhusawal-Nagpur-Durg-Raipur-Bilaspur-Raigarh-Jharsuguda-Rourkela-Tata Nagar-Kharagpur; during those days; early 2000's was literally nostalgic. Most of the trains were in mixed livery; combined with both Maroon as well as Blue Coaches, and one Or two Cream-Brown liveried, as well as one Or two CR Blue-White with Red stripe liveried Coaches; where sometimes seen in few trains. I guess the Superfast high priority trains like Gitanjali, where the first ones , which started getting the grand Rajdhani liveried WAP1 loco, whereas the usual mail/express trains were getting the the typical Rajdhani liveried WAM 4 or the Red (bottom) - white (top) with a slight Blue in between liveried WAM 4.

Fantastic video Mani. I had travelled by TN express from Nagpur to New Delhi back in 1978 when I was in school . It was truly a prestigious train back then with its own red and yellow livery , hauled by a single matching WDM-2 . I think it had no halts between Itarsi and New Delhi and I remember it sailing past Gwalior and Agra fuelling a thrill that cannot be rationally explained. The timings too were probably more aggressive . Your video brings back old memories

It was one heck of a train back then. It did have two halts between Itarsi and Delhi - Bhopal and Jhansi. The schedule was definitely more aggressive than the one I traveled in - almost 3.5 hours faster!

@@ManiVijay You are right .. I actually meant no stops between Jhansi and New Delhi .. Gwalior and Agra were skipped, I remember that pretty clearly. Those days the Gitanjali express used to run from Durg to Rourkela non stop. Hard to believe now a days ..

I had a wonderful experience with Tamil Nadu express last year. So aggressive and speedy. More punctual except fog during December. It's a very special train to me. Got more craze in just one up and down travel.
