It's still firewood season and demand is good. I'm hoping to sell some of this standing dead wood in the next few weeks. The tractor is a Massey Ferguson 2607H.

It would have been nice to strike oil, but I'll take the firewood as long as the weather holds. Thanks for watching!

Some people like to go places and spend money on things. I'm completely happy on the Massey in the woods. It's a beautiful, peaceful place!

I'm trying to find ways to make video (and hopefully decent video) while doing the routine work of gathering firewood. It's so repetitive but it's how I spend a lot of my free time. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I have to agree with GardenTractorBoy... the Massey does make a great firewood tractor. I'm sitting here (at work) watching you pull a tree, up a hill, with a box full of weight on the back, and nothing on the front for weight but an empty grapple and a go-pro.... I drove up my hill this weekend, granted the grass was a little wet, with the backhoe on, not towing anything and I lost all ability to steer. Ended up throwing a couple big rocks in the bucket and that did the trick.

She does get light in the front end headed up a steep hill with a full carry-all and a green oak log in tow behind. Steering is gone without some front ballast at that point. I'm interested in seeing how much the RK25 can pull on level ground. That thing seems to be a real beast for the size.

@@outdoorswithlarryrobin I'm 39, knocking on 60. Especially after a long day cutting wood haha. I hope I'm still a walking workhorse at 62... but yes, I try to be responsible financially. I'd love to get a mini excavator, but it won't be in the cards anytime soon if I'm still being responsible haha

Logan, Hello from NorKal. I really dig your vids and wholesome approach to this channel. I have a TYM 254. Its a subkompakt with 3rd funktion. I recently built a SSQA mounted inverted splitter for all those rounds I'm not willing to hurt my bakk lifting by hand. It works great and I saved alot building it myself versus buying one premade. I've recently aquired a hydraulik Mile Marker winch. My next projekt will be konverting that hydraulik motor into a light duty hydraulik earth auger. The splitter was 500$ to build with skavenged parts and some welding. Normally they sell for about 2500$+ The augers start at about 2000$ I'm aiming to invest 500$ or less. But I've had a handful of nay sayers. I figure even if I'm limited to 8" post holes, I'm still doing better than digging by hand. I guess I'll find out. Anyways i watched your grapple build and i really appreciate your energy. I think you would enjoy building an inverted splitter from skratch. As a tool it is just awesome. But you would also get alot of views to go with. Anyways, happy days man. Happy holidays and all that. Salute, from Kommiforniastan. USA ;)

Hail, Comrade! I'm sure it's hard to do a lot of fabrication when your state makes everyone goose-step in formation three times a day, but the socialist marches at least get everyone exercise haha. I appreciate you watching and commenting... will you post video of your build?

Steep hills heavy load are no problems for your big Massey. Were those dead trees mostly Ash? Have a great week Logan 🙋🏼‍♂️🙂👍🏻

I think a few of them were ash, and I dropped at least one (possibly off camera) that I think was maple. A BX could have pulled it all if it was cut a little shorter. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed our video. I have a MF 2606H and would like to space my tires out to a wider setting similar to your 2607H. I have done this many times with other tractors, but the rear tires on this tractor are loaded with liquid ballast which I have never dealt with before. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle tires that weigh over a quarter ton?
@FabbedFun
@FabbedFun Жыл бұрын
I've been considering moving mine out just a few inches farther so I can add some custom wheel weights I got from Ben Kennedy at K&H Tractors. He recommended I NOT try it alone. I think the ballast alone is 741 lbs of Rim Guard, so you're talking probably close to 1000 lbs with wheel and tire together? I may wait until I have a buddy with a loader tractor nearby to help.

Are your rims set to the widest setting? And how often do you use 4wd?
@FabbedFun
@FabbedFun Жыл бұрын
With all the hillside around here, if I'm not in gravel or on pavement, I typically put it in 4wd so I have better braking. I believe my wheels have two settings to go wider. I saw a picture of a 2607H at max width and I think it may have been over 8 feet. I'm right around 83" wide at the sidewall bulge if I remember right. Thanks for watching!
