Nice piece of kit. I do enjoy your local chatter. I was just thinking Dave's radio went off frequency but I think it may be running a bit hot. That's just a novice guess as I recall I had a local radio operator that used to get distorted when the radio was used for an extended period of TX communications. It may be off frequency but I do hope Dave can get it figured out.

Hi Andy. Yes i think your right about the heat. Dave's radio sounded like a model from the day so is no doubt older. He was spot on when we all started. I like the little SS9900. I need to sort out the sound on camera for an improvement.

Lol. Fred just got some new Prescription bins today. Now I can actually see shit. Your hands look massive compared to that little rig !! I never realised how small that rig is.. Old age is a challenge.. Lessons I have learned for me Every radio new out of the box is a lottery .I got 2 new Galaxy radios from the U.S. One was not far off the other Being the more expensive Homebase model was a joke shop.. I have invested in decent test equipment. They are now adjusted to service manual spec. Never take it for granted mass produced radios like this will do what it says on the tin.. Lol.. Somebody actually spoke to me last night. I was asking for my 1st radio check. Now on radio in the states almost everybody sounds like their great great great grandpappy fought for the south. Except for me, I sound like Kermit. Anyhoo a guy like this answered back after like my 6th request all snippy "that radio works". Thats the 1st time I spoke on a radio in 20 years. *sniffle*

Thats the idea mate. Its quite hard to get started again. I used to get one word answers from truckers and not always polite. Just keep going and you will find some locals.

I just had a nice chat with a guy on a Galaxy HP95. A local guy only about a mile away. There was a 3rd person I couldn't quite hear on the west coast somewhere. He said he could hear us loud and clear. that might have saved me from giving up on talking. It was quite a rush really.

There you go. Local people are the key. Find out if they meet up on a channel at a certain time daily or weekly. When i started i kept a small note pad and jotted down a few details for local contact. What rig what antenna stuff like that. If you catch them again you can then asks questions.

I was happy to hear him say my radio sounded good. Its been frustrating to get to this point. The A99 is my 4th ant. I wouldn't buy anything the same if I had it to do over. I now have a working entry level station, and it works. ha ha.
