Haha great to see someone outside of Norway handling the snow like a boss. 😂

I can’t imagine! How much snow do you see in Norway?

You need to get a snowmobile, atv and a Kohler generator!

You’re not kidding! I have a Generac and hoping it will last a long time but if it ever needs to be replaced Is Kohler better?

HazardSports I have known that they make larger generator for when one loses power for an undetermined length of time. I do not know how much they cost but it may be worth the investment if your area is known to lose power frequently and/or easily in any type of major storms.

Our generator kicks on a few times a year. The only concern with going bigger is having the fuel to run it long term! As it is we can go about 5 days on generator without needing to re-fuel (if we happen to be topped off). The Gen powers most of the house and to power some other things like washer / dryer I think would be a waste of fuel. So I don’t really need bigger but if I ever had to replace it would be a “most reliable” unit of comparable size that I would be looking for! Also, the wood burning stove has bailed us out a few times and we had some wood in and near the house just Incase the gen went down!

HazardSports Looks like your current generator meets your needs. Double check your manual to see if using Stabilizer additive is needed. I think it may be needed during storage/during use as gas may be corrosive and cause issues.

Strangely enough - it runs off of the same propane that supplies our house!

If you are serious about generators look at a military surplus generator. I have had owned a few over the years and currently still have one. WAYYYYYY better than any consumer gas Koehler or genacrack standby generator. Diesel, liquid cooled, under rated and designed to last thousands of hours before a rebuild. When the power goes out and the gas pumps won't work you are covered because it will run on home heating oil and has an auxiliary fuel pump to pump it. Look at my Chanel and check out the one video I have of a 5k Mep802a

Sounds like solid advice! I will definitely check out your video! For this house I will probably leave this setup the way it is! But when we move to our next house I will go with what your suggestion. Are they hard to get and expensive?

HazardSports They are fairly easy to get and you can score one for very cheap. You can get one from a govt auction for insanely cheap for what they are worth but might have to put some work into it to get it 100%. If you are interested hit me up privately and I’ll give you more info
