I’m proud of you brother and thank you for saying so. You have no idea how much that means to me; to know you’ve conquered that and that anything I did helped you do so. 🙏🙏

That’s amazing news to hear! Proud of you! It’s not easy by any stretch and I have no words to adequately say how much that means to me that I could help in anyway so thank you very much for taking the Time to say so, I really appreciate that and huge congrats to you again! I clicked on your 7 days booze free vid and had to see if you’d still remained sober. Super awesome to see that’s the case. You speak a lot of sense dude. Cheers for the vids. I’ve read so much sobriety articles, books, listened to podcasts and it helps transform your perception of booze and remove its glamourous fake image. Life is so much bigger without it.

An excellent KZbin resource for anyone contemplating or journeying the road to recovery from alcohol and other substance use problems. I'm inspired by your passion and wisdom. I facilitate SmartRecovery groups, have still lapsed at times, especially in the past year with COVID, social unrest and death of mom. But now moving forward with positive energy. Thank you, Jay!

The 2 books/lectures you mention I encourage everyone to explore! Gabor Mate and Bessel vander Kolk’s The Body Keeps the Score (on audio). ‘The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety, it’s connection’. Look at the Rat Park study. A strong compassionate male friend said he’d been in therapy 2 years before realizing he was thinking his emotions, not feeling them. That he just learned the language and expressions to fool himself and everyone. That’s esp true for men. Micro traumas in family and society that tell men vulnerability and emotions sans anger, are weak. Ancestral trauma is something I’d like to hear you discuss as well.

Thanks Eddie, I really appreciate that. Hopefully I will be able to stay consistent with talking about these things because I want to help so badly. When you've been in this hell and you start to get out all you want to do is see others get freed as well!

I appreciate you saying so, Lee. That's what I'm aiming for. Not doing anybody any favors by not being as real as I can be about the battle and about life. Thank you for taking a moment to say what you said, that really means a lot to me :)

Brent I really appreciate you taking a moment to say so! I know how many people are struggling in silence because of the bullshit stigmas and ignorance around these things and the best thing I think that I can do is to be open and honest and talk about it and trust that in time, those stigmas will disappear as understanding spreads. Thanks again brother, I really appreciate that!

At times it felt like you were telling my story, albeit from a different view point . I'm just never able to just sit comfortably, never able to just be content and present and often I run away and I drink. Look forward to more content and it's great to see how you've grown from when I see your first few vids. Much love

I know the feeling! Nonstop agitation and/or anxiety to varying degrees all the time. I was so numb to it - especially with booze to shut it off. Have you found anything to help you relieve it? I appreciate your kind words, I want to help as much as I can so people don’t feel so alone. We need connection and relationships more than anything I’ve learned. Keep in touch and all the best to you in this journey! 👊🙏

Jay, this is fantastic and resonates deeply. Thank you for these videos. I’m only on Day 88 and it’s extremely hard. My anxiety is through the roof and every day is a battle to stay strong. Can I ask what the name of the book you talk about is and by whom? Thank you again.

I’m so grateful to be able to have the honor to help! The seemingly inescapable anxiety and agitation is going to be one of your biggest hurdles and you can be free from it. If I can make big progress on that front, so can you!! The book is called The Body Keeps The Score by Dr Bessel Van der Kolk. Keep up the fight! Get to the bottom of what the source of the anxiety and agitation is. It’s most likely unresolved past suffering. It doesn’t have to take years to heal and countless hours and money spent on therapy. Godspeed and strength to you! Keep in touch!

Appreciate this pal. I lost my best.mate to suicide in October. My third friend to it so I know the feeling and have decided to go alcohol free myself. I would love to join you for a chat sometime as I think we would see slot of similarities from different places in the world. 👍🏼

I am very very sorry to hear that brother! That is awful and I know how it is and I wish there were something I could say to take away the pain but I know there isn’t but knowing that other people understand and care, I know means a lot. I’m proud of you for deciding to go alcohol free all things considered. That level of suffering can make it really easy to fall into addictions of all kinds to soothe the pain. Would definitely be open to chatting for sure! Keep in touch!

Not sure you'll see this, but what about confronting the person? In my case, my mom. It'll crush her and the typical 'I guess I was a bad mom' will come out. It might be good to get it off my chest, but it's still my mom. Thoughts?

Check out Dr. Ramani on KZbin she discusses everything around narcissistic relationships and survival, including parental and family relationships. I’m not suggesting this is an absolute but it might be eye-opening if applicable. She helped me understand and name perental behaviors that formed me, and understand the choices I made as an adult.
