The Outlaw 2's ride incredibly smooth for a pure mud tire.

Yes sir, we have found that skinny/wide combo works the best on the trails and in the thick nasty stuff

Yes sir, looks great in person
@ostacruiser

They are a good trail tire, they ride smooth, they are not very good in mud at all due to their close tread spacing. They get balled up with mud fairly quickly and are tough to spin fast enough to keep them cleaned out
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
The Outlaws just work better for us, they have a more flat tread design that helps the tires stay ontop of the Muskeg
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They should fit no probs, may need to throw in some spring spacers for a bit more preload on your shocks
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They ride smooth like stockers, they are on the heavy side and will soak up quite a bit of power
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
The 650Xmr is on the shorter regular chasis, all other xmr's are on the longer max chasis so they can fit a 2up seat easily. If you want to carry a pasenger you will have to buy one of the aftermarket seats that go on the rear rack

Yes the 28"s come either 9.5"(skinny) or 11"(wide) They are both great mud tires, if you have more ruts the Outlaw 2 may do better for you as they have more side lug, the 29.5" Outlaw 1 is imo the best mud tire ever made, it's got the perfect balance of weight and tread design/lug height
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
If you went with the 28" Outlaw 2's I would say go for it, they ride great and you save a bit of weight from the 29.5" Outlaw 2's. We don't do a ton of trail riding with the Outlaws but when we do they work well
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
If you go with the 1's I'd go with 9.5" wide on all 4...they have a nice flat profile and would work well with your machine, the 28" Outlaw 2's are a super aggressive tire and they weigh quite a bit also
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
Totally up to you, both great tires
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Usually a 2" Lift is trouble for stock axles, they can't handle the extra angle a lift puts on them, it's a tough call for sure, you will for sure break less stuff running the 28"s vs. the 31"s, the 31"s are a pretty massive tire
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
What size? The Outlaw 2 is going to be heavier but they far outperform the Terms in most every situation, and badly out perform them in mud. If you are concerned about weight then consider the 28" Outlaw 2's, the 29.5's are heavy
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
In 28" size the 9.5" wide Outlaws are going to weigh less and perform better for you, but the 28" Silverback is also a nice tire, doesn't ride as smooth as they are more rounded like a balloon so you ride on the tips of the center tread, this is also why they tend to dig a bit more
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Would be very close, the 29.5" will give you a touch more GC and the Outlaw 2's will have better sidewall grip for ruts
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
I would consider the 30" Outlaw Radials, best all around tire on the market, 30" Zillas or Mega Mayhems, nice and light and do well everywhere, 29.5" Outlaw 2's best smooth riding mud tire option for a 14" rim
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
I have only ever ran with 1 guy that ran them, he had 27"s on a Sportsman 500 and they did O.K. but they are too narrow of a tire for us up here, if you had a hard bottom to your holes they would work great, but in bottomless stuff they get stuck fairly quickly
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
I think the Outlaw Radials will outlast the Terms, they both would work great for what you have mentioned, if one is a better deal then the other then I would go that route
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
The tread blocks are spaced out a little bit more but other then that they look the same
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
They are more of an all terrain tire, the tread is too closely spaced to paddle you forward in the mud like an Outlaw. The Terms still trail very well as they have a very smooth ride and they climb out of holes good because of their close spaced tread
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
We love our 29.5" Outlaw 1's...best skeg tire ever created
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They are a good all around tire that rides smooth, they do not mud as well and an Outlaw or Silverback though

I ran 29.5" Outlaw 2's with 1" spring spacers, rubbed a little when turning full lock, I didn't do any trimming though
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They are an awesome tire, imo the best all around tire there is, they ride smooth as stock and mud very well, if you aren't in the mud all the time I would run them, if you spend a lot of time in the mud then I would go with regular Outlaws
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Depends on what type of riding you do, the Terms are a better trail/mud tire where the Outlaws do better in the mud, the Terms are a bit lighter
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Outlaw 2's are a very heavy tire, you will have no power left running them, we all run 1000cc Can-ams with 85+hp and we found they killed our power too much. If you are just putting through deep ruts and never really on the throttle that much then they would work great as they have excellent sidewall lugs
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
You can run 27 or 28" Outlaw 1's all day with out clutching, clutch work will help get more power to the ground but not needed
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
The new Outlaw 2's wear like iron, I put almost 600 miles on my 29.5"s Outlaw 2's and they look brand new, the Terms are a bit softer rubber so they wear a bit quicker
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They are a good all around tire that do well everywhere, but they are not a pure mud tire like an Outlaw or silverback
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
They would be perfect for what you want, best all around tire on the market imo
@ostacruiser

for a set of 4 skinny/wide combo the 29.51'a are 10lbs lighter then the 28"2's
@ostacruiser

Assuming you want to stay with ur 14" rims the 31"s are 172lbs/set and the 28" Law 2's are 166lbs/set. The 180lbs/set for the Outlaw Radials are fairly heavy but still 14lbs lighter then the 194lbs/set for the 29.5" Outlaw 2's. You are only saving 8lbs going to the 31"s and they are a larger tire, that should equal more broken parts, the 28 Law 2's would be your best bet but you will sacrafice some GC with them
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
The Outlaw 2's are a serious tire, much heavier then the 1's. Many of us have switched back form the 2's to the 1's for this reason, that being said you bike will pull them with the proper clutching but they will sap a ton of power away from the 650 motor. I would rather go with the 29.5" Outlaw 1's or the 28" Outlaw 2's, jmo
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
No one they we ride with uses them, but if they work well in your terrain then go for it. Nothing works better for us then the old trusty 29.5 Outlaw 1's where we ride
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
I saved 60 lbs going back to the 29.5" Outlaw 1's, feels like I picked up 15hp. The Outlaw 2's are way too heavy for our style of riding
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 12 жыл бұрын
lol, no skipping allowed...sit through that stuff...lol. 1" here and there can make a huge difference. The larger the voids the better they paddle you through the Muskeg and carp

One word, reliability, our rides take us deep into the bush and making it out is very important, no parking lots to walk to. They are just too big and too nasty for our type of riding, they would destroy a drivetrain with the power of the 1000 Rotax and our Muskeg

So the silver backs are wearing down a little on the xmr. My cousin has the swamplite 28in on his 500 and they can't seem to get stuck. We ride in bogs, they are pretty much bottomless pits of water mixed with deep grass and dirt...And of course this make for the weirdest mud you will ever ride in. It is very heavy stuff. Does anyone use swamplites?
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Executioners are a bit heavy for what you want, the Zillas/mudbugs would be better, 27's are fairly small, you would spend a lot of time winching where we ride

No, not the 28" Outlaw 1's most dealers do not stock them as the tread profile is not near as good as the 27" and 29.5"s, it's very rounded, they ride rough and dig to China in a mud hole. They also wear quickly because they run on the tips of the tread in the middle
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
We have great luck and run 29.5" and larger tires

@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Ya they are a good tire, same as a mudbug, good all around tire
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Throttle will break the majority of axles, all though some tires are way too heavy and don't help at all(29.5" Outlaw 2's, Mambas), if you are not in the mud all the time I would throw on some Zillas, you will have great power and durability because of their light weight. If it were me I would throw on some 29.5" Outlaw 1's
@ostacruiser
@ostacruiser 11 жыл бұрын
Outlaw 2's have great tread but they are pretty heavy, the 28" Outlaw 2's weigh 10lbs more than the 29.5" Outlaws. You would be okay except in thick mud, then your bike will struggle

@Ostacruiser how come you guys stopped using these and only run assassinators basically? I’m in MN and a lot of people run these on renegades and outlanders and they do very similar vs assassinators and ride sooooooooo much smoother on the trail lol. They also have a lot more side bite it seems too.

@@ostacruiser hmm. Yeah we ride the same mud you guys do and I guess I beg to differ. The assassinators dig down and bottom you out immediately vs the 9.5 and 11” outlaws float a little more on top and get you out better it seems. To each their own though I guess.. it seems too many people are getting sponsored by and getting free assassinators so they don’t care how they perform.. they are free Lol…

what would you recommend for me in a 27-28in tire? the 1985 Honda big red 250 and 1987 honda fourtrax 250 i have, have a 5 speed transmission, so i can always shift down if i need more power, they are shaft driven and have a centifical clutch. the trike is what i plan on setting up for mudding. being that they are hondas, i am limited to my modifications and tire sizes. please respond.

would a 27in mud tire be big enough to ride the stuff you do, i have 25in stock tires right now on an old honda quad (soon to have a 250 big red trike), i dont think i can go any bigger than 27 without serious mods, im trying to avoid that? i know a friend of yours by the last name "Woolsey" from P-dale. Hey ostacruiser. Question; Have you had any problems with the outlaw1 as far as trying to repair a puncture? I had a small hole in mine right beside a lug. when the tire shop tried to put a plug into it it tore even further because the tire was like 2mm thin. They tried patching the hole but that didn't work because if left too rough a surface after. Now they put a tube into it. Not really happy with that and the thin wall of the outlaws. Is there another way to repair these kinds of puncture holes without putting a tube into it?

Hey Osta, I'm planning to spend some tax money and I'm looking at new rubber and wheels. I was hell bent on law radials because I do some technical woods riding aside from mud but the more I watch laws tear through deep mud the more I like them and the extended lugs. I know you ride mostly Skeg but I'm sure you've heard opinions, how would the OL2 operate as a part time trail tire? Either set would go on new 14" msa's on 1000 Gade xxc.
This Was A Bad Decision lol
