That is one awesome leaf blower, works very well. I appreciate the wood videos as we use wood to supplement our heating. I have about 12 acres of forest on my property and can't even keep up with all the downed trees and limbs. Thanks for another great video, cheers.

Hi Mike, Glad to see that the woods didn't get smashed too bad. Now you have a couple of very dangerous widow maker's to deal with. Please be very careful when dealing with them. I would give you a few pointers if you would like. I have worked through hundreds of cords of storm damage timber over the years. Take care and work safe my friend. Your friend Al.

I see why that is your favorite. It is beautiful with all the trees and a blanket of copper leaves on the ground. We have oaks in the pasture and most are still green leaves.There are quite a few oaks that the leaves turn copper and the leaves don't fall off until spring. Some times I wonder if the leaves are going to fall off before the new start coming on.

I wish I had that downed oak tree for firewood!! Have been heating our house for 37 seasons now with wood in sw Minnesota. I’m 66 & not as strong as I once was. Still fun to cut firewood, & now I have a grapple and a new tractor. Sure saves my back. I still get sore after cutting & hauling wood. (Old age).

Yes you will have saw logs. Yes you should get a saw mill. No, you don't need to worry about the length of your videos when you fill them with the work you do around your property. THIS IS GOOD CLEAN ENTERTAINMENT for all ages and we like it. I think way back you showed some of that favorite property, isn't there a little hill top close to the drop over the hill? Maybe this old dawg is dreaming again but the climbing ladder to the deer stand rang a bell?? Really like the video Mike and Melissa, keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.

The few ice storms we get in Alabama does damaged like that big oak everywhere. But our tornado season usually makes us lots of firewood hauls. I have been working on a 26" oak that fell this past spring at a neighbors house. we let it dry a little to help cut down on the weight of it. i ended up cutting some huge branches off then using my jeep and winch pulled the large trunk section off the fence in 2 pieces. Also, i love your property. reminds me a lot of where i grew up here in Alabama.

Great videos, if your looking for video ideas, set up a few tail cameras and show the deer/animal movement and activity around your property. Include a few clip per video or something. Also, would love to see some of your hunting videos around your property. I know that would not keep everyone happy, but variety works for everyone. Keep up the good work Team Morgan, thanks for the entertainment and journey

If you have frequent power outages especially in winter I'd strongly suggest a generator for some backup power, even if its a smaller one just to run your lights, fridge freezer tv and such up to something for the whole house. With the 4 tractors there you might want to look at a pto generator to just use a tractor to run it vs yet another small engine to maintain.

We had an ornamental pear tree in our suburban front yard. 20 years old, it was as tall as our two story house. Our neighbors hated it because it held on to it's leaves all winter long, so no matter how many times you raked up leaves, it would drop more the next day.
@digbyodell29246 жыл бұрын
You had some room in that stack for tighter fitment, maybe 6-8 peices and do you measure your stacks after seasoning or before? There's 3-4 inch difference there also, depending. I get a load exactly like that except more level over to the cab with 1/3 cord.

Not too bad on the length of the vid... Being from Tn. I thoroughly enjoyed the music, sounded like Annie Lennox? Never heard it before, I'd appreciate it you let me know who it was and the name of the song 😆... Ice damage reminds me of our dreadful 1993 ice storm. A Lot of tree damage around here, frontal system was only one night but with the cold air behind it the ice lasted 2 weeks before melting, with the power out for about a week, and heard trees breaking for days. I'll be in wait on seeing how you deal with that big oak on the hillside.👍

Just a suggestion you do these little quizzes every now and then. Why don't you do a quiz to find out how much wood is in that big oak tree that fell down and have people guess how much wood there will be after it's cut and split and stacked. You know like a cord or a cord and a half you get the idea. that would be a good one I think. I think that would be neat to find out. Just something to think about.

So the question is how much does one third of a cord cost where you are Mike? Good video as always, keep them coming. I feel we live in very similar countryside. I live in very rural SW France full of woodland (mainly oak and chestnut) and cattle farming. The area is full of the famous Limousin cows. Here I pay €60 per stere (cubic metre) of 50cm cut chestnut or oak. That would be about €220 per cord or in US $ 250.
@brettdisher69856 жыл бұрын
The totes/cages you use for firewood are made to be stackable, could you make a video and see if cutting that side out compromised the structural integrity too much to stack the cages? Just don't fill them completely full so they rest on the metal part. If it fails it will fail to the cut side so it shouldn't be too dangerous if you stack them from the back side. Thanks it would be greatly appreciated!

@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans So Mike, you do realize that you need to make a follow-up video to that original one. The next one should feature Melissa doing the splitting of equal type and size of wood in the Ranger to see who can split the fastest. I know you may risk some embarrassment here, but it's only fitting to see which Morgan can do the job best.

OOPS forgot to mention about the harvesting the trees. You have the resources to harvest and soon to mill lumber plus a great firewood business with the new owner "Melissa" so selling the timber off would really mess things up for that area. They not only cut the trees down but destroy the young growth or a lot of it while removing the other trees. Tree farming is fine if that's what a person wants but it takes away many other enjoyable tasks and recreation for you and the young-uns to partake in. Just rambling this morning, too much coffee (jitter-juice) ;-)

Mike, do you use Star Tron (enzyme additive) to your small gas engines? A Small engine repair shop owner told me to either use high octane or use Star Tron additive for the 10% Ethenol gas. He said that the Ethenol can gum up the carb when sitting for a length of time. Imagine if the USA ever got hit with an EMP event. It would be a life threatening situation. Yet most of human history has lived without this 'modern convenience'.
@450rmaniac6 жыл бұрын
Silvermana, this is a true statement. Ethanol collects moisture and that is what causes a lot of the problems. Same concept for watercrafts. Do not use any ethanol when water is a common element around. If you are using the gas quickly and it isn’t sitting, there isn’t much to worry about. There is more additives out there to combat the issue, however, Star Tron is a brand that I hear more than others. Stabil will help as well but will not eliminate the issue.
