I know that if it was my child I would be able to manage it for sure. It breaks my heart seeing how ill they get with their crashed but who am I and what do I know. Even if I provide them with these type of podcasts to watch. They change nothing as their Dr doesn't approve 😢

Dr Chaffee, more diabetes focused videos, please.
@jetryan62410 сағат бұрын
I absolutely agree we need more videos that address different issues of diabetes from type 1 to type 2. It's absolutely essential as well as steps that can be taken that diabetics might need to take that others might not have to do, just because of the insulin resistance in metabolic syndrome. When we switch to the carnivore diet it has been difficult for the last 4 months even though I've tried and tried to get much off. Thankfully I have now lost 7 lb, but some of that is from cutting out most carbs of any kind if I could but also fasting. And when you go into carnivore you're not told you should fast initially but then again there's no real clear how to do it manual and how to make that change to carnivore manual with specific roadmaps like a week or two weeks or even better yet a whole month full of planned meals plus fasting; for a diabetic period it would really help to have more videos to help us. What a difference that would make!

Even after a couple of months that my wife and I have been on carnivore, my CKD went from 3b to 3a, my blood glucose is lower, eGFR higher, out of pre diabetes, and all of my blood markers returned to normal from way out of whack! My blood pressure pills are dropping off as well as ditching psych meds for PTSD and BiPolar Disorder. Plus of course, lost 30lbs since starting to cut back on carbs three months prior to full carnivore. But my nephrologist refused to treat me when I told her I was on carnivore.. I can't help but think that if I latched onto it much sooner (though I lost with Maxwell Stillman's diet and Atkins as a teen), I would never have developed endometriosis nor had to have my gallbladder removed. I heal much faster than I ever did, have more lean muscle mass and am 60 lb lighter than I was for decades of my life. The only thing it has not made better is my genetic androgenic alopecia, darn it, but I am happy with where I am now and even someone sending me fruitcakes and candy doesn't sway me. Fasting also helps a lot for nerve regeneration by releasing stem cells, NDG and BDNF which are required to grow new nerves and neurons. It goes very well with carnivore and low carb diets - also helping you get over carb addiction, which is the real reason most people are overweight and/or unhealthy! The many benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering dietary carbs: Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune cells in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your immune system. This helps with autoimmune disease, cancers and cytokine storm. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of proteins, pathogens and plaques by macrophages and other immune bodies. This will remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin! Fasting quickly lowers blood pressure levels. Clots and plaques are removed over time due to accelerated phagocytosis. When insulin is high, vit D stays locked in the blood cells but fasting quickly lowers it. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and D in turn increases autophagy. Your brain prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when equally available to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns free fatty acids. Reduces B cells by over half in a single fast, greatly reducing allergic and other autoimmune responses. Fasting and low carb help with POTS, which is driven by high insulin and blood sugar. Fibrosis aka scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart, lungs and clots. Clotting and fibrin are inhibited, stopping any 'unusual' clots. The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body. T cells are crucial in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infection. Tthymus generally stops making them with age but fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus! Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools. Reflexes and short term memory are increased. Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!. Fasting increases telomere length, negating some effects of aging at a cellular level. Fasting increases interferon, which shuts down the ability of viruses to replicate. Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility for some women. Fasting does not reduce testosterone over time. It raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. It also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building. And removes fat, which also increases estrogen in men. Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This recycles damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses. Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mtDNA. Mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention! 24h of fasting reduces leptin levels by half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. Fasting restores NAD+, reduces NADH and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels. Over time fasting normalizes stomach acid levels and during the fast acid levels go down to allow for the healing of ulcers. Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn glucose, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with. Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood, creating new nerve and brain cell growth. This helps a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. Fasting stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer. Glycine and trimethylglycine (TMG) can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits. A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD has about 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and zero net carbs. What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds usually break ketosis due to fillers or directly. Some of them also irritate the stomach. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting! Children, expecting or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors that excrete insulin or certain rare forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all or only with doctor supervision. T1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis and done under doctor supervision. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast with a low carb meal. Dr Chaffee, I am probably more fortunate than most of your viewers; I have no chronic diseases, no diabetes etc. However, I like to be proactive, and I feel a lot better cutting carbs as a lifestyle change. However, no surprise, my LDL goes up to 140, and total cholesterol is about 240 when doing quite strict keto. And I am quite lean with BMI around 20. Now, I checked with a lipidologist and he's well familiar with keto, diet etc, but he's still a bit concerned about the serum cholesterol. I went on statin for a while, but after a while it only brings down LDL a little bit, and it appears its effect tapers off after a while. I think statin also lowers my energy a bit. And I have tried to bring up the carb consumption as well, but nowadays (as I believe due to my leanness) the LDL doesn't go much less than 100 regardless of statin and added carbs The doc is well aware I prefer keto and suggested I do a Coronary CTA (Cleerly) to get the truth (I had already done an ultrasound on carotid artery, and it had turned up no evidence of plaque). I did it, and the result was literally zero plaque anywhere!! The analysis estimated my actual cardiovascular age as < 35 (and I am 50+). The doc is still suggesting me to take the statin....but I am probably not going to do it So I am still a bit concerned about the LDL, but much less to after the CTA. Thanks for all your interesting contents!

I wish I could feel as good as so many people talk about their canivore journey. I've been eating this way for 3 months and I still have hope tho. The one thing it's done for me is healed my digestive track. I just wish all my back pain would go away. And I have neuropathy in my feet, it drives me nuts, and I'm not diabetic, it's caused from chemo 25 years ago so says my doctor. I also have anxiety bad at times. Anyway maybe I'm doing it all wrong. I eat mostly grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, a2 milk and some cheeze. Hope to feel really good soon.

Are you drinking caffeinated beverages? Some of us are extremely sensitive to caffeine. Is the beef yo7 are eating aged, or mostly ground or minced? Both will contain high amounts of histamine, which can cause problems. Seasonings can be a problem for many. And if you’ve only been doing this way of eating for 3 months, oxylate dumping from your prior way of eating could be giving you symptoms… Start with these ideas, and if you’re SURE they aren’t your current problems, continue to look for answers.
@andyc77475 сағат бұрын
It can take years to reverse a lifetimes poor eating habits. There are no guarantees of course but in time you should improve more and more. Depends on your issues as well. Pain is largely an inflammation issue so less inflammation from eating this way should help a bit at least. Three months is very early so the fact you have improved already is great.

It can be very difficult being on the outside. Most people have been indoctrinated to think fat is bad. After some time of seeing you benefit so much people should start to change their minds. You will set the example for all your friends and family to follow. Getting them to eat this way may be a little more difficult though. I have not been able to get any of my family to change in three years but they do now know that I am right.

👍 1:01:40 : The problem lies much deeper. 80% of Doctors are not used to questioning the existing science. They are conformists by definition. Doctors' self-image is too deeply rooted in their emotions, that all the knowledge they have practiced on up to now must be soundly correct. A doctor's entire self-confidence is based on this. On a higher level of understanding and knowledge. If this knowledge is wrong, self-confidence and self-worth, indeed the whole profession, is in danger of lacking credibility. This is why new findings and better experiences are rejected. The whole of medicine is in crisis now. Because the foundation on which much of the teaching was based is wrong. We currently see conventionally practicing doctors as stupid people. Indeed, stupid. And they don't want to accept it. It's a revolution like in the days of Charles Darwin.

I loved this video, but I do have an objection. As a type one diabetic and a carnivore for 6 years. I feel it could be dangerous to advise to use only basal insulin without taking boluses for meals. . I only take 12 units of insulin a day. Because I keep my basal insulin low so that I can either exercise more or even skip a meal if I want , then I’ll take insulin for protein and fat, to keep my blood sugars in the normal range.

Dr Chaffee i am so impressed, but have no support system that can answer my simple questions , with respect to the Doctors , they lack knowledge;?moreover , illiterate in this area. How can i talk to you directly , i know this is the answer, but no support, makes it impossible to know if some changes are good or bad. Simply , takes weeks to get an appointment, and then the appointment bares no fruit. I don’t know at times if its anger or frustration i feel. Regardless Dr Chaffee , you are helping people, if you can’t find time to get back to me, i understand. But always keep up the great work you are doing , to help humanity. I am 67 years old, from Central Canada.? You are the best, in being articulate , with respect fir everyone, as is Dr Berry. On a different note, Merry Christmas, and the very best in the New Year. Everyone pls listen to Dr Chaffee, an attribute to humanity. Ty Dr Chaffee for all you do.!!!🤜🤛👍✌️

Just watch all the carnivore videos, what else do you need? Eat fatty meat, fish and eggs, salt to taste, drink water when thirsty. Do it strict for a month and the cravings are gone. If your the type of person that needs a community there's plenty out there steak and butter gals, Dr Chaffee's, Dr Berry, Dr Lisa Wiedeman. Their are plenty of lives all these people have, that you can get answers for free. Here's my question to you. Are you human? If you are, the carnivore diet is the optimal way of living. Would you question a lion that only eats zebras, if they're are eating their species appropriate diet?

There is no proof. The studies they use are on people that have a mixed macro diet, Fat, Protein and carbohydrate. We know the issues with carbs in humans, Just study the Randle cycle for that. Our doctors mean well but the issue is with their training. If humans understand nutrition so well to the point where all doctors get the same training then why are so many people suffering?

That's great to hear! Well the reality is that regardless of what you eat, you endocrinologist can just help you with the medication side of things. If you decide to eat a zero carbohydrate carnivore diet you will just get fantastic results and blood sugar control with minimal insulin. So anyone will be able to help you with that, just don't get into a conversation about diet with people that don't know about the research and results that people get with ketogenic diets and diabetes. However, there is a huge list of low carbohydrate doctors all across Australia at www.lowcarb downunder.com.au and they have a database of doctors that you can look up in your area. If you can't find anyone near you, you can probably do telehealth with people in other parts of Australia, including with me at my practice in Perth. I'm not an endocrinologist however, so I can't completely take over that role, but I can certainly help you on the nutrition side of things. Good luck!

Once at the Newark Peace Conference organized by Corey Booker , the Dalai Lama was on stage with a group of other pacifists , including Jody Williams , the woman who got the Nobel Peace Prize for her work on land mines . We were all noticing how enchanted he was with her , especially her anger , she did not wear shoes on the stage , and stood up to talk , ( to rant ) , and the more strong she became , the bigger he smiled . He was so happy to finally have someone with the right attitude about the injustice going on out there ! Listening to this interview , I saw how relieved Dr Chaffee was to finally listen to someone who is a bit pissed off -- and rightly so ! These people doing the damage to the population should stay scared , that is what I think now . Sometimes I wonder if they KNOW that the carnivore path is healthy , and they were keeping it a secret on purpose , to give themselves the predatory advantage . We ALL need to be eating meat , just to increase the grazing and land management , growing the depth of the topsoil , as well as growing the capacity of our BRAINS . This situation is actually ridiculous . Dr Chaffee , you are on my list of superheros , including Allan Savory - among others . Blessings this Christmas to you and your family - Thank YOU for sharing this information and making MY LIFE different than it was before . Jennifer Arnold

Fatty red meat is the best choice, Adding extra fat is usually necessary as we need a lot of fat. Three meals per day is part of the problem, Lots of people on carnivore have one meal per day. It does depend on a persons health issues etc.

Whatever fatty red meat you enjoy the most eat with aaded butter tallow or lard to up the fat if needed. SALT is very important when you first start, use as much as you can. In a month or so you will start feeling amazing.
