I always count that there are 16 belt teeth bridging between the 2 slashes in the cam gears, if there isn't then one of the cam gears position is off.

A little unrelated but I’ve been looking for how to on interference cam installs. The only one I’ve seen that may apply, they set the bottom end off TDC so they have room to spin the cams freely. Is this the reccomended technique to do this? Or should you stay TDC and be very careful. I can only imagine how painful damaging valves in your engine would be before even starting it up. Thanks for the content, I’ll be sure to rely on it a lot when I go NAT

I just got me 02 GS 300 and I got a new engine. The old one was blown I can’t seem to get it on timing. The cams lined up on points like you said, but the crank does not turn all the way it’s off by three tooth or three dots. Any suggestion

I have heard of them breaking or going out when they’re original cam gear on a motor that is getting a lot more power

@@miltonmartinez6698 it’s still around 20 years old though. If it’s a daily with no mods and staying like that you’re probably fine. They do leak sometimes as stated in the video but I haven’t heard of them going bad unless you put a lot of power through them. Not sure beyond that. I’m sure the creator has plenty more experience if he sees this his answer would be much more reliable.
